The Panasonic FS9 features a 28mm wide-angle 5x optical zoom LUMIX DC VARIO lens and HD movie recording. The 28mm wide-angle lens lets you easily capture large groups of people indoors, or expansive architectural structures and scenes with dynamic width and rich perspective. The 5x optical zoom lens captures beautiful shots of people or landscapes with 12.1-megapixel resolution. The Extra Optical Zoom function uses the centre part of the CCD sensor to extend this 5x zoom ratio to powerful 9.8x zoom at a resolution of 3-megapixel or less.

I have the FZ38 & my son has the TZ8 both made by Panasonic, the are both outstanding on the features and take superb pictures, at this price you can't go wrong

I don't know about this, seems the model is exclusive to Comet so there's no reviews and nowhere else to compare prices.

Are these any good compared to others in this price range? My friend rung me up only today to ask as he was looking at the Samsung from Play at £59.99.. and looking the FS10 of this model it is only £5 more at Play.

Panasonic FS10

Can't find a way to edit my comment on this new version of the site so I'll have to double post. Might be worth checking out the FS10 instead, lowest price £104.99 as it's available at more than one place which means you can get a grasp of its value and it actually has reviews! http://www.trustedreviews.com/digital-cameras/review/2010/02/12/Panasonic-Lumix-DMC-FS10/comments

How does this compare (apart from optical zoom) to the tz7? Anyone have any experience or recomendation?

Was it really that price for such a low spec camera, no wonder they had to drop the price! Looks like another exclusive model number price drop con to me.

Senses
Cam is an old model, Newer one is the FS10.

I can't see any feature difference, check the back of the manual here: http://tda.panasonic-europe-service.com/docs/2z4c33aa23z3z2e0b1z656ez706466z21z18292d1a4f13ad7cf1fe35af9b7bf9bd4527d8f1/tsn2/data/ALL/DMCFS30/OI/834202/vqt2k62.pdf

There is an "Edit" button (second from bottom) but doesn't work for me. Have you reported this to the moderator? If no-one tells it wont be fixed.

5x zoom is good for an ultra compact camera!
If you want more zoom you need more space, ie a bigger camera such as a 'compact' or 'travel camera'

I meant to say that £100 is not a bargain price for this camera. I thinks someone is also selling a new one on ebay for £90 - so really £100 is just about the right price
#14
Absolutely, I agree, this is about the right price and is a good camera - but not that hot

I think some of the comments on here are from people who just don't realise how good Panasonic cameras are. Yes the calimed RRP is ridiculous but a 5x optical Panasonic at this price is a great deal. HOT!

All Panasonic cameras? So because it has the brand Panasonic it must be good without question? No need for anyone to ever review a Panasonic camera then as they are all great without exception.

I remember the Gadget Show test of £100 cameras and the Canon came out top.
