This is a crazy price for a fantastic camera, I imagine because it's about to be replaced by the GH2. Nearest price for body only I can find is £449.99 at Park Cameras.

The camera is great as standard. However, if you get lucky and get a pre-June 2010 model, you can "hack" this with modified firmware to get HD video bitrates of 40mbps+. The quality needs to be seen to be believed - many feel it matches and possibly surpasses the £1600+ Canon 5D MKII for HD video. If HD video is high up on your list, the hacked GH1 also beats the Canon 7D or 550D. Please research before you flame me for that comment! I know there will be lots of Canon lovers on here...

I received a hackable GH1 on the 10th October from Currys.co.uk, so there are still lots out there in the wild. It might be worth a phonecall to Harrison, they should be able to tell you what they have. Like I said though, this is still a fantastic price for a standard GH1, hackable or not.

EDIT: They also have the GH1 + 14-140mm kit lens in at £739 which, again, is a great price.

Don't worry about Harrison, they're one of the good guys. Independant, family run business:

Also just noticed they have the GH1 + 14-140mm kit lens bundle for £739 which is also a great price. The 14-140mm lens is a stunner.

It's Micro Four Thirds, which now has a nice range of lenses from Panasonic and Olympus. Of course there are plenty of adapters out there for other mounts, just pickup a Pentax > M43 adapter and away you go. I use all my old Nikon primes on my GH1 with an adapter, works flawlessly.

Ha! Maybe that's because they put items up for sale that they don't even have yet and might not even get. What idiots. Tempted to report jgmgood to eBay tbh....

Just tried again and works fine, just be patient, the site is just going a bit slow at the mo.

So annoying when people expire likes this, how do you unexpire?
#16
Kiwikeen, site is slow. But just try again, it should allow you to add to basket.
#17
By the way this is not a live stock site unless they have 50000 off them on their shelves.
#18
Anyone know of a good cheap lens for this camera?
#19
Finally got it sorted, this deal is listed in their facebook page also, so it's not a misprice. I just hope they are actually only selling units they have in stock, only time will tell I guess.

Thanks for posting :)

What's cheapest lens you could use on this > ? ( and then the cheapest + decent) thanks

Pentax > M43 adapter and away you go. I use all my old Nikon primes on my GH1 with an adapter, works flawlessly.

I have Olympus Four thirds lens. will the above adapter work ok with the Olympus lens?
Any help would be great

Thanks

Hmmm..., wont be cheap. You need a Panasonic micro 4/3 lens with IS since the body doesn't have any image stabilisation build-in. Olympus micro 4/3 lenses dont have IS because they have it in the body. You can use any micro 4/3 lens if you dont want IS, or many other lenses with adapter (adapters will not autofocus, though).

Sold out now anyway. Maybe count yourself lucky that you didnt rash into this deal. It's not a good starter deal.

Highly unlikely they will have 100s of these in stock so just be wary people - until you get that all important dispatch e-mail you do not have one yet!

Somebody unexpire this, just 20 seconds ago:

Thank you for your order

Your order will be processed shortly. Your order reference number is 22XXX.
#32
If this isn't a misprice, I'll be very surprised. Good luck getting them to honour it.

It's the headline offer on their homepage:

http://www.harrisoncameras.co.uk/

And they've posted it to their Facebook page:

http://www.facebook.com/posted.php?id=111246728922159#!/pages/Harrison-Cameras/111246728922159

I don't think anyone is going to need any "luck" getting them to honour it.
#34
thing is you really need the dedicated movie lens that is usually sold with the gh1 to make full use of this cameras movie features. dunno how much they sell for separately ~ £400 maybe.

super hot though.
#35
Why would it be a misprice its advertised on the homepage at tteh same price.
#36
Oh yeah, HHHOOOT!!!!

not a misprice this was posted on twitter over 20 hours ago also posted on facebook and there website. tempted to order but buying a lens would up the price to around the canon 550d price tag. thats why am unsure to buy or not. there is also a code which takes £1 off. use code QUID

what shall i do people ? canon 550d or GH1.

Thanks for the info, I use a Nikon, will primes only work or will my Sigma lenses work? Say my 10-20?

Phenomenal deal IMO, heat added. Should be well over 500 degrees by now.

The only thing I would add to all the advice above about using another manufacturer's lens with an adaptor, is that one of the big advantages of this camera is its compact size compared to 'standard' DSLRs and if you are going to slap a big (standard size) lens and adaptor on the front, you might as well go for something else, as it rather defeats the cameras main USP (unique selling point).
#40
Im sure if I put my 70-200 2.8 on the end of this it would end in tears anyway, just nice to know I can use a 50mm prime for example that I already own as its not a huge lens. Also, seems other lenses wont AF from what Ive just read so also remember that.
