For the extra 20 quid I think I'd rather have the newer model.....
This BD35 is being posted as £130......

In fact, their cheapest Bluray player is an LG and even then it's £89.95.

So perhaps you or LOUGHBORO GUY would you like to enlighten us all with more of your wisdom and give us the link to this Sony Bluray Player for under 80 quid from Richer Sounds that you seem to think exists?
Thank you for posting it. I see from TrustedReviews that it has Optical Out which was one of my main 'wants'. I've got a PS3 set up as our Bluray player but I'd rather bring it out of the lounge so the kids can play on it and I can watch TV in peace. As you're probably aware, the PS3 has Optical Out and I use this to connect to my Surround Sound system (Just a Samsung jobby but nice all the same). Would you happen to know how the firmware can be updated on this player JP? Do Sony supply firmware updates on a disk for this model?
Thanks again and in advance of your reply.
Repped ya.
I had not long come back from doing the worst thing I have ever done in my life.
Perhaps I was a bit harsh ( to be honest though, I'm surprised I didn't really go overboard ) on you.
I myself am looming for a blu ray player and hardly know anything about them.
Trying to pick my brains on these at the moment would be futile.
Perhaps I would have better knowledge in a few months time but I suspect you want to get one now and not wait.
I only have one blu ray disk at the moment that I got for free so I'm not in a mad rush to get a player just yet.
I can wait 'til they come down further in price and for the next generation to come out also.
Sorry I can't help you and sorry for jumping so far down your throat.
:-D:-D Sorry JP, couldn't resist. I PM'd you yesterday as well.
I'm not in a mad dash to get one. I want to make sure I'm not going to regret replacing the PS3 with something less 'able' without 'upgradability'. If you have a HiDef TV and you're not putting HiDef through it you're missing an eye feast! HiDef on my Panny is outstanding. I watch the recent 'Life' series in HiDef and the images are simply stunning. Before having a HiDef TV I would have said its all the same but it really is like a whole new viewing experience.
Keep me posted if you find anything decent will you JP and I'll do the same.
And chill!!! :-D
Blas.
