Saw this at the weekend: Panasonic DMR-BS750bk at my local Curry's for £249.97.

Not bad for a freesat HDR/Bluray recorder.

Manufacturer's Description
HD Everything
Panasonic allows you complete access to the breathtaking world of High Definition and all its possibilities. A world where you can pause, record and rewind all your favourite channels with freesat+. Where you can watch Blu-ray films in stunning HD, and stay connected by streaming content direct from the internet. With Panasonic you can access, manage, store and share all this HD content effortlessly.

Record 2 Channels at Once
Recording and Viewing Freedom with freesat+ Twin Tuner.

With more than 140 digital TV and radio channels to choose from it’s fairly likely that at some point you’ll want to record two programmes broadcast at the same time.

The freesat+ Twin Tuner allows you the freedom to do this and offers a multitude of other viewing and recording options.

You can watch one programme and record another. Record two programmes at once. Watch a Blu-ray disc while recording two other programmes. Watch a recording from HDD while recording two programmes.

freesatfreesat+ EPG
The freesat+ EPG organises channels into easy to use categories with this 8-day on-screen programme guide.

Find what you want at the touch of a button and save all your favourites so they’re easy to find.

Set the timer to record just once and each programme in the series will automatically be recorded. Recorded series’ are easily located as they are automatically archived in the same folder.

Even if the broadcast schedule changes, programmes are correctly and completely recorded.

Full HD Recording and Playback
In DR mode you can record a digital broadcast signal, without the slightest change in quality, directly to your HDD. The precise Full HD picture quality, 5.1ch surround sound, subtitle and audio description, all recorded perfectly and ready to view.

5.1ch Surround Sound Recording and Playback
The Dolby Digital and Dolby Digital Plus surround sound signal embedded in HD broadcasts can also be recorded.

By adding an AV receiver and speaker system, you can enjoy recordings complete with 5.1-channel surround sound.

Subtitle and Audio Description Recording and Playback
The Blu-ray Disc™/High Definition DVD Recorder can record the subtitle and audio description data that is included with some digital broadcasts.

Because these are also recorded digitally, they can be switched on or off during playback.* Only for DR mode.

H.264 Encoder
Panasonic’s original H.264 Encoder responds to the movement in a video image and compresses it so that the recorded image is as clear and vivid as possible.

H.264 conversion recording is particularly convenient if you want to save space on your HDD or want to record a number of programmes onto a Blu-ray Disc™.

PHL Reference Chroma Processor Plus
PHL Reference Chroma Processor Plus is a high quality image processing technology developed to precisely process each pixel of the Blu-ray Disc™ video signal.

It reproduces colour data with twice the accuracy of conventional systems to keep colours faithful and sharp.

High Precision 4:4:4
When viewed on a high end VIERA TV model, which features 4:4:4 signal compatibility, it recreates images with the original film quality to further enhance movie enjoyment.

P4HD (Pixel Precision Progressive Processing for HD)
The Panasonic-unique P4HD technology processes more than 15 billion pixels per second, generating each pixel correctly according to information obtained from up to 60 surrounding pixels, and applies the optimum processing to every pixel in the video data on the disc.

The result is images with exceptional resolution.

1080/24p Playback
This means movie images from a Blu-ray Disc™ are reproduced in their original 24p form, with no need for conversion. Watch movies as though you were at a movie theatre.

Product Description
Blu-ray Disc Recorder with HDD (250GB), Twin HD Satellite Tuner, SD Memory Card Slot and USB Terminal. Because the recorder is equipped with two HD digital tuners, two different TV programmes can be recorded simultaneously. There is no need to worry about missing out on recording a programme when two programmes overlap. In DR mode, the DMR-BS750 can record digital broadcasts in Full-HD picture quality. It can also stream-record and output the 5.1 channel surround sound signals (Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital Plus) contained in HD broadcasts. When connected to a 5.1 channel digital amp, the DMR-BS750 lets users enjoy outstanding surround sound while watching a TV program or playing back a recording. Can't see it on their web site, was it a local only offer (seems like a good price to me)?
#3
Copy and paste the web address above to see the picture I took instore. I can't get used to this new site. Does seem to be instore only.

The replacement model is around £700. This can be found for around £350 from Amazon.
#4
Good to see the prices of Freesat recorders starting to come down, a note for anyone thinking of buying this, you will need to have a twin lnb or greater in order to utilise the twin tuner, as you will need two feeds from your dish.
#5
It's a manager price as it's got 97p on the end so it will be that store only I guess.
#6
Nope. All stores that stock it. If it ends with 97p, it means they have discontinued it across all DSG stores, including PC World.
#7
So the one I purchased from Fosse Park Leicester wasn't a one off, as I thought. There must be others round the country.

Anyway, brilliant price for a unit that does almost everything.

(Edit) Sorry, should just say that was the last one in stock. Don't want to waste anyone's time.

I got one yesterday and was about posting this here but you were faster, brixton south london, from display but with all acessories, there is promotion if you buy it before 31st of July:

you can claim 3 free gift copy of Fantastic Mr Fox, Minority Report and Avatar Blu-ray movies and for sure purchase in currys is covered as well

great deal if you can find it

I have got the Panasonic DMR-BS750EBK (not sure if any different with the 'E') but it is a brilliant bit of kit. Had a dish fitted for the FreeSat (three cables, two for the recorder and one for the FreeSat in the TV). I paid over £400 for my unit, got to be hot at this price!

Yes, I have a Pana TV with a FreeSat feed as well (and Freeview as well by aerial feed).
Got a love for Pana i'm afraid!
#13
Cheers, stkrup and piglet!

Don't forget about blu-ray starting pack found on play.com
http://media.play.com/ContentDocs/Panasonic%20Blu-Ray.pdf

according to term and condition it doesn't seem why it should not be honoured with currys deal, definetely worth a shot!
#15
Bizarre that Panasonic seem to be running two simultaneous promotions on the unit!
#16
its a bit unclear from the description, is this freesat HD or just freesat?
#17
Freesat HD.
#18
@'cheepstuffrules!'

Awesome album.
#19
Can't beleive I paid more than this 12 years ago for a Sony VCR just coz it had 3 scarts!

97p just means clearance, basically its an old model, end of line that currys want rid of. Will be nationwide, but stock is usually quite limited on clearence items.
#21
Just rang my local Currys and they checked the whole country,None showing anywhere they said.
#22
Shame - £250 for a dual tuner Freesat HD PVR, with inbuild Bluray player AND recorder?
Superb deal, with Sky ditched it'd pay for itself in a year with all kinds extra.

If you ring the customer service line, they can only see stores with 3+ in stock. I checked at Isleworth yesterday and Wimbledon and Guildford still had one a piece. These were the two nearest stores to me.
#24
Phoned Currys just now ..........apparently only showing stock of one in the country at Aberdeen ....if that is any use to anyone also quoting £279 ..........
#25
Edit, I gave up trying to reply to a quote as the drugs required to make the quote thing work are doing my head in!
#26
Tried Sheffield and Rotherham - No joy. In fact one of the sales assistants said if they`d had any at that price the staff would have bought them anyway !
#27
Got one about half an hour ago from Torquay, thank-you. Customer services showed none but the Guy in Exeter store found one on his system. Quick question, what would we need to get to make this surround sound, man in Currys said it would be complicated?

Your old dude !! very old :P :P :p

Tried 3 stores and no joy but I did find out that they are also selling the 850 (500GB) for £399...But again, none in stock in my area...Also found out that these are now clearance as Panasonic have released the updated versions, which are retaling at double the price...Heat added!

Forgot to say...It appears that the main difference with the new versions is that they include FreeSat HD...This would indicate that this version is actually only FreeSat+ rather than HD...

Please Guys, as you obviously understand this stuff, are there any home cinema speakers that don't cost the earth that will connect up to this and be compatible with the blurays?
#34
Can you get Channel 4 HD & record it with this recorder.
#35
Morning,

There is 1 display model left at PC World in Telford - but I can't get over there to pick it up, so I thought I'd let people know it was there.

Hope this is of use to someone else, it's a shame I can't get over to fetch it!

Many thanks for posting this great deal!!!!

Picked one up from Staples corner yesterday but the remote was missing so they knocked off another £50!, so it cost me £199. Ordered new remote today from Panasonic for £20 including P&P.

I'll have to join the brigade of "new site moaners" as I've tried posting in the mobile version of the site with sweet FA joy. Hopefully this will work as I'm sick of tapping in the same message for nowt!

Here goes...

At the risk of looking thick ad a brick, could I use one of these with an old sky dish? It still works. Just not subbed for a while.

Absolutely - Freesat and Sky are both on Astra 2D, so your old dish is already aligned. You just need to plug in the coax type cable from the Sky box to the Panasonic box and it should work. But remember if you don't already have Sky+ box then you will need another cable from your dish to support the twin tuner.
#39
Nice one Stammerman.

I'm not overly worried about the twin tuner just yet but will almost certainly in the near future. A bit of reseArch will be the order of the day first though... And maybe a session of hypnosis if ladders are involved! Heheh!!!
#40
So who got one and what do you think. I might take the plunge if I can find stock.

Also, can you record onto hdd or bdr from external source?
