Ok , Not everyones cup of tea, But I think the going rate for these is about £500 so £394 with sat dish install is pretty neat...

This is a TSV Todays Special Value, so defunct after midnight tonight, but if you are in the market for a Blu-ray recorder/hard drive freeview and freesatHD recorder, I think this is a bargain....

I havent spotted the dish cost if they provide, or wether you can provide your own, but still, I think I was quoted £120 from Panasonic...

Dont kill me lol, I know I know QVC.... but in my defence I only caught the snipit on terrestrial :P

Looking at the site shows they do freesat installation inc. dish and twin feed for £99. If this is all included then that looks like a pretty good deal to me although not having researched these recently I can't be sure.

The apparent Blu-Ray Dual Layer writer is what sets this apart at the moment, can be nice to have the ability to record to media that can hold up to 50GB.
#9
Installation is included so this is indeed a bargain and the reviews are generally strong. Hot for me thanks.

Not sure why the cold votes - no-one's jumped in with a better deal on this.
#10
This is an awesome deal. Argos selling 250gb version for £399 and does not include installation. £499 for 500gb version again without installation. I already have a 250gb version and just bought TSV too. Yes it does have HDMI output. Fantastic unit and includes all the Panasonic DVD recorder GUI which is one of the best going. Nice find op, heat added and thanks!
#11
people you forgot quidco taking it to a £ 375.06 THEN IF CODE FOR £5 OFF WORKS
TO A £ 370.o6 hot

As this includes free installation (including dish) and is the 500GB version it is a very good deal for those without Freeview HD coverage. One reason for the good prices on these units is the new model arrives at the end of June (DMR-BS780) so they need to clear the shelves. Also now the new Freeview HD model is out (DMR-BW780) I am sure they will sell less of the Freesat models.
#13
Thanks ordered mine
#14
Hot...........I would love to ditch Sky, but I have their broadband/phone services.

Free install is not needed if you already got a dish with a dual LNB already up.

But the free dish, LNB and installation is what makes this such a good deal! You may as well get them to put the dish up (or at least install a quad LNB) and run the cables to another room!

is installation pack must be added seperately or it will come with this recorder?
#18
I was gonna post this deal but was beaten to it & i have ordered this myself, I usually shop at pixmania and bought a panasonic HD tv for £819 while argos was sellin the same tv for £1500 so some good deals to be had at pixmania but this panasonic sells at pixmania for £649.99 so the pana at qvc is awesome deal!
#19
ohh tempting on advanced orders

I've been after this for a long time. I've been watching the price of the 250gb and have been close to buying it recently but decided to wait to see what happens with the new HD Freeview model.

Well, having now read reviews of the new HD Freeview model it doesn't sound like any massive leap forward, so have decided to take the plunge and have just ordered this 500gb version.

Anyone know if the panny promotion of 3 free blu rays applies to purchases from QVC?
#21
'scuse my ignorance....

it say's that an ethernet connection gives access to youtube/internet stuff.

would it be possible to use an existing wireless network rather than another cable connection?

thanks

Good question, i'm not sure but i dont think this device is wi-fi enabled. Anyone know for sure?

WoW

Looks Awesome.

Well if you compare it to the longest standing Freesat HD recorder offering:

Humax Foxsat-HDR with 320GB drive = c£230 (this offer has larger 500GB, ie over 50% more capacity and it SOON gets used up with HD recording ) Though the Humax can record 2 programmes and play back another at the same time, whereas the Panasonic details don't seem to say that - recommend you resolve that before buying!

Installation of a twin feed (quad usually) + satellite dish costs around c£100 = £330 (but can DIY for around £40, I did)

A Blu-ray player of any type = very cheapest £80+ = £410 (this offer has Blu-ray RECORDER !!!!)

So as long as you need a satellite dish put up for you, and don't have a Blu-ray player = bargain assuming it can record two programmes simulataneously (remember that Quidco or other £back though!)

If you would use the Blu-ray recorder function too = MAJOR bargain.

PS: The Trusted Review at
http://www.trustedreviews.com/home-cinema/review/2009/05/17/Panasonic-DMR-BS850-Freesat-Blu-ray---HDD-Recorder/p1
says twin recording, giving it excellent ratings at its original (bonkers) £950 tag!

Where does it specifically mention that installation includes a dish & LNB, could it not just involve plugging the lead from an existing dish into the rear of ths unit and tuning in the Freesat channels?

I would guess the real stumbling block is the expected 21/6 delivery - ie missed 2 of England's Group C fixtures for instance!

#27
Real shame this isn't wireless too, then it would be almost all in one! Good still though!
#28
Just rang QVC:
Delivery from 23 June then you have to book engineer..so no gurantee it will be set up before end of June.
Difficult to return without being charged for installation
No wi-Fi
You cannot record ITV HD onto disc.
Blue ray recordind takes hours & unit will not allow you do anything else in the meantime

Great unit with too much technology for it to be flawless so expect to be frustrated by too much expectation.
Better to wait as bit as this will surely be less than £300 by Xmas or go for the Humax 1TB

This is still pretty vague - without dish, LNB & cable installation being expressly included, I can't personally go for this deal, as these items would surely add another £100 to the total cost.
#30
I just caught last 10 mins of the 3pm showing, presenter stated it includes the dish and install by Euro aerials.
#31
Good god this is a good deal, Comet had this unit without anything else ex display for £652!
#32
cold here.. the sky engineers deal was much better...
£300 for a year of sky viewing inc HD Box & installation... after a year you can knock the sub on the head & still receive everything this can
#33
QVC also on quidco so possibly another 5% off the price
#34
I'll not be buying this as I have the majority of my Sky HD subscription left, but this is definitely a good deal.

Would be great for the World Cup.

That's because they try to offload all rhe stuff that's on the way out.

But you wont be able to record anything without a subscription, so all you have is a HD receiver.

What else could that possibly mean? they plug it into an existing dish but dont suplly you with one?! dont think so!
#39
Quidco has tracked as £19.74.

Anyone any idea if the Panasonic promotion of 3 three blu rays (Avatar, Fantastic Mr Fox, Minority Report) applies to QVC purchases?
#40
will this have a 3D update or is it inc already?
