This is my first post so I hope all is OK. This is a superb spec camera for the best price I have found. The delivery is also free. I hope to be getting one for my pending birthday.

The 6.0-megapixel DMCFZ7 has an Optical Image Stabilizer that compensates hand-shake. It also incorporates a 12x optical zoom (equivalent to 36mm to 432mm on a 35mm film camera) LEICA DC lens.

The FZ7 is compact and easy to carry while preserving the same powerful zoom capability and manual controllability of it's larger bulkier counterparts.

12X image stabilized zoom | 2.5" LCD | 22 Scene and shooting modes | Automatic, semi-automatic & manual control | High speed focus mode | ISO 800 and 1600 options | VGA videos | 16:9 video mode

Looks like they have upped the price a little from my initial post. Maybe the more they sell the more the price goes up.

its the fz7 not the fz20 (the fz30 is actually the bigger brother of the fz7) though they are similar cameras i believe the fz7 is more compact (though still large) and was reased in 2006.

Doh....Thats what you get when copy and pasting in Google and not looking at what came up before pasting links....I hope I don't do that again....

On the positive side the fz20 got brilliant reviews aswell...

Nice deal, thanks for posting Pmctech
#11
very good camera, good video mode too, my parents bought this a few months back, shame they didnt wait a bit longer!
#12
I too have this camera and it is fantastic it has upto 16.5x optical zoom when in 3 megapixel mode which is amazing, Highly reccomended!
#13
Well I have the FZ3. (Same to look at but its.....Silver - yuk)

Brilliant camera. Great quality even tho mine is only 3.0Mp (Personally don't think there is any benefit in more MPs but maybe thats me trying to justify a camera that I paid £150.00 for over a year ago.

Doesn't state the memory card size but if getting one treat yourself to a 1 Gig at least. also not sure what the max would be here - I have a feeling that it is limited to 2 Gig.

Far better value than the Kodak range IMHO for the lens only(LEICA), if not the stabilizier (VERY important with 12x zoom).

Great find! Voted!

Excellent first post.

I have the FZ7. Bought it a few months ago for £229 from Amazon. It is a fantastic camera and this is a fantastic deal. Buy it. You wont regret it.
#15
Hey you guys I'm really seriously thinking about buying this camera, I have read lots of reviews and trawled the net various times trying to find a dodgy review of this camera but I cannot find one ...

Seems this Panasonic FZ7 with Leica 35-432mm lens is really the business, and shames a lot of DSLR's that are twice its price....

Problem is I don't really have the money but this damn site keeps coming up with great deals and this one looks to good to pass over...:p

Anyone out there that can give me any negative points...so as to stop me from buying it...:giggle: Hurry up cos i'm gonna get tempted..
#16
Looks nice to me i want one too.
#17
crazylegs,I too want this camera, have been looking for a while and this is a superb price.I was also considering the sony H2 which is similar and slightly better rated review wise, but,it is at least £40 more and as usual with sony the memory cards will be much more expensive!

Trouble is I wanna upgrade my pooter as well, decisions, decisions:whistling:
#18
Just looked at a few reviews of the H2 and its a great camera, but the lens isn't a patch on the Leica lens on this FZ7, the Sony is bulkier aswell...

Still trying to talk myself out of this deal but getting more and more tempted by the hour, I reckon i'd have bought this by the nights end...Only 39 left when I last checked....:giggle:

[*]New LCD is bright, but resolution is lower
[*]Occasional focus hunting at long end of zoom in low light

Thanks for that Vandutch but i'm afraid to say that it didn't work, I left you some rep though to get you out of the grey, you got a green box now....I'm still hankering over this fantastic piece of equipment and don't know how much longer I can hold out...Its that Leica Lens thats doing it...

Just checked and another 5 people have bought this camera as they are down to 34 now since 21:30pm, I bet the buyers are from this site aswell...:)

Aaaaarrrrrggggggghhhhhhhhhhh......Who reckons I should buy it and be done with it...My bank managers gonna kill me...:giggle:
#23
Buy,Buy,Buy....:-D

Then let me know what you think of it:thumbsup:

P.S. for me anyway, the panny felt nicer to hold than the sony,I'm a girlie though so that may have something to do with me hand size lol
it also looked a bit more straightforward to use, everything seems to be in a good place.

Yup I'm in the competition BUT whatever you do don't vote for me coz I have no chance of winning but I am in with the chance of the booby prize:-D

Without a doubt if I had the moola I would have ordered this,I have been watching the price for some months now and this is the best price by far.In black as well, soooo much nicer looking than the silver which is a bit plastic looking. In a few weeks i just hope that they still have it,I will then be in a position to buy....my poor slow pooter may have to wait:-D
#27
Any cheaper than £165? Thinking of getting it price matched tomorrow at Jessops!
#28
I'm sure you'll get a prize Muckypup...:giggle:

And adamck thanks for the pointer to the other thread....Some fantastic pictures you have taken there, they look very vibrant and really clear....

Do you think Jessops will still be honouring that 110% difference deal you talked about on your other thread...As I might be up for that well saves waiting on postage eh...
#29
It seems Jessops will not honour the 110% difference deal they were doing back in october...Oh well...:-(

The reason why this camera is getting cheaper is that Panasonic has just announced its replacement - a 7.2 megapixel model called the FZ8 with various improvements including a higher resolution LCD and viewfinder and the ability to store RAW images.

http://www.panasonic.co.uk/news/pukweb04-dyn-news-onthemove-fz8.html

The first review I have seen says that some aspects of its performance are actually worse than the FZ7, but overall it is a "welcome upgrade" that gets a highly recommnded rating.

http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/panasonicfz8/page17.asp

So, it seems possible that the FZ7 may become even cheaper over the coming weeks/months. Alternatively, you could wait for the new model which is due to arrive next month. I haven't seen a UK price yet, but the US list price of $350 suggests a UK street price of around £250.
#35
I've just bought the FZ7 and 1gb memory card for £170.36, it seemed too good a deal to pass by. Especially compared to the crap I bought for £200+ a couple of years back. I just hope its not too big to stick in my g/fs bag when were on holiday:giggle:

Muchos gracias
#36

If you can find any left... as these FZ7's are going like hot cakes at this price...:-D

Down to 22 now on ebuyer, these will be all gone by tomorrow I bet...was 34 at 3:00am this morning...

Your right though a newer model is to be released in March but this has mixed reviews and seems not much of an improvement over the FZ7, an extra megapixel and the option to save pics to RAW format, Manipulating RAW files though can be very clunky, I'd rather have the lossless TIF files myself easier to manipulate....

Hello Wizzer

Pleased you got one of these...Had you turned up tomorrow instead of today I think you would of missed out on this particular camera...So well done on snapping one of these up..

Just out of curiosity what was the piece of crap that cost you £200+ a couple of years back...:whistling:
#38
HEADS-UP

Only 15 of these left now...Better be quick...
#39
I was going on holiday to the US a couple of years back (which I've just about paid off now, thank god) and needed a camera quick. I didn't do any research and saw an advert in the paper for a Panasonic LC70, £200 + a free baseball cap. 4mp, no image stabilisation, poor zoom , not much better picture quality either to be honest and the size of half a brick:oops:
The FZ7 does however seem much more like it. I've read the reviews in DP Review and I can handle the chromatic aberration (watch the spelling with that one). I want a decent camera to go on holiday with and not miss a thing, for that I'm sure this will do nicely. Mind you I really fancied the Kodak P880 but thats not worth the hassle from Kodak by the sound of it.

Once bitten definitely, twice shy!
