There's a new model HDC-SD5 (£544 at Amazon) out, but this one gets great reviews and has larger ccd's (1/4 inch) which I understand gives better clarity and low light resolution. QVC seems a bit embarrassing (found it on the net - not the Tv!) but it's the best price by £20, and registering only took 3 minutes.

First post - thought it was time to give something back to all you fantastic OP's. Hope it helps someone. Please forgive any errors!

PS Item number is 557846

It works have to search at the seach not the middle of the page.
Not sure why the link isn't working. This link is the one I used for the page and works for me:

The AVCHD compression has got lots more support now, and looks as though it could become the de-facto standard. It says limited stock so I bought one straight away, as apparently they've got a good 30 day money back scheme where they collect the item themselves. Unusual for me as I often have to research for days! I like the fact that a Gb Sd card is included too.

Now just have to find a way to plat my mini DV tapes after I lost my previous camcorder. Any suggestions?
Don't forget 5% Quidco, saving another £20 !
This was out of stock for a while but it's now back in stock.
This is a great deal and a great HD camcorder but I prefer to stick with my MiniDV SD camcorder because its waay easier to edit and archive SD, low light performance is much better and no compression to worry about...

If I were buying into HD I would be placing an order right now though!!
