Good if you can find one, I got the last new boxed one from my local store. Should be plenty of ex display models about though.

If your local store has no stock get them to "seach area" on the system. One item usually means display, more than that and they should have a new one. Product code is 359237

I phone up currys and they said they don't stock the hdc-sd100 hd. I also gave them the product code and they said it didnt exist on their system? Was it definitely currys yeh? they have the '200' version available but at a whopping £749.99. I'm pining to get one for Uni and this price is really excellent for what it is. What store did you pick urs up from?

its definately currys as we have just bought one off the shelf at the arnold in nottingham store (last one) absolute bargain, we are really chuffed with this as its our first camcorder and we had a £300 budget and that has left us with enough to get a good sized sd card.

Just bought one at Halifax this was one that someone had bought off the net and returned to a local store the box had been opened but nothing inside had so brand new as far as i can see. When i rang the huddersfield store yesterday they checked yorkshire and none came up at Halifax so worth a check on local stores even if it isn't showing on there system.I was told yesterday that there were 2 at Hull and one at Beverley.

hmm... the dreaded £.97.... not good
#6
i have a £70 voucher i will part with for £50 if anyone is getting one of these
#7
thanks Jonsen

I managed to get the ex-display model from the shop in Lewes. They also had a couple of other ex-display models inc. SD9 with HD. I phoned up one curry's using the code and they were able to check what was where locally. Excellent

I'm pleased with the size and quality of the camera for the price. Agree with the reviews that the cinema mode colours are just too intense.... but so far very pleased.

Just called Currys, they had one in stock, just about to pay, and the bloke came back and said his collegue was taking cash over the counter for it while I was on the phone :x There is one in Kidderminster and Cheltenham though for those anywhere near there.

#14

Thank you so much:). I drove to Romford A12 and none there. Then I went to Chadwell Heath where a very kind Kuldip (?? manager) went into the computer and located one for me in Basildon. After whizzing around for half an hour, I bought one. It is so nice to have someone going in the computer and locate it for you and then phoned up and asked for the item to be set aside for me. My son is very, very happy!:p and Christmas has come early for him at least!:santa:

T*H*A*N*K*S*!!!!!:whistling:

got one of these a while ago, and I can safe its fantastic for the price.

I got the last one in Crayford yesterday. They did have one at the Lakeside Retail Park (off M25) on Saturday morning.

I do want to know if it is worth paying £80 for a 5 year repair gtee from Currys though that includes accidental damage. As a policy which includes this and no excess, sounds fair.

Also the battery I got given was the VW VBG070 but not sure if this is correct. It is only 725mAh and the one in the manual is over 1000 - I feel short changed but am I?

I GOT A SWAP - READ MY POSTING BELOW. MANUALCLEARLY SAYS 130 battery is the one supplied ...
#18
Got the last one in Cheltenham - thanks to the guy who pointed out there was one. At this price it seems like a ludicrous bargain.

H+R added. Thanks very much

For those wanting a better picture the Canon HF100 is around 379.97 at some Currys stores. I had looked at this but it needs its only Canon mic if you go external, it doesnt have a viewfinder, and I couldnt see why I would want to spend an extra £100 - but expect prices to fall ...

I bought this one today. Absolute bargian. As new condition. Comes with box and all brand new unopened accessories. Spoke to Manager and got £15 off and free £3.49 insurance which cover everything except theft. I also bought Samsung High Defition 8GB Internal Memory camcorder for £210 (RRP £600) as well. They gave me £15 off again and free brandnew Original Samsung camcorder Bag kit(including extra battery). I am very happy.

I would like to thank Jonsen. Well spotted. I hope you will post more bargain deals on HUKD in the future.

Glad I could help :)

Fantastic camera, had a good go with mine at the weekend.

Should still be a few available.

@ The guy who is going to flog them on eBay for a profit - Good luck with 10% final value fees, I was going to do the same til I realised how much the fees have changed, not worth the effort now IMO.

Yes you are, it should be the larger battery. Must have been swapped by mistake when it was on display, take it back and get them to change it!

My local Currys is saving me this .... but they are asking £280! How did you get it for £240? I think we should be told! Cheers! Bruce

Well iv'e just been back down to Currys and had a right go at two managers down there mine has the smaller battery in it.A 70 minute battery in a £600 camera when it came out is a joke i'm really peed off.Anyway they won't budge they say thats what came with the box nothing they can do except refund me,Which is no good as they don't have another. They rang Panasonic and i spoke to the guy on the phone who said the uk got 70 minute ones in most of theres.Probably because were stupid enough to put up with it in the uk.Anyway not much i can do they won't swap and will only give a refund mine might be going back later in the week.

Thats rubbish. States in the manual they should come with the 130 battery. Have you tried other Currys in the local area? Send me a message if you get stuck

I just picked up the last camcorder in Currys Caerphilly. There were none in the Cardiff stores.

For anyone in Wales looking for one, customer services said that they have one left in stock in each of the following stores - Newport, Cwmbran, and Camarthen. Hope that helps someone!

Thank you for posting this deal!

Who else got the smaller battery and did they get it changed.

Good afternoon,

just reserved mine at a Currys store, Whooo!!! can not wait to pick it up. Its an ex display model, would'nt give any extra discount over phone so its £279.... still a real steal..

Took a while to narrow one down, I'd phoned a few stores to find one...

Brooklands in Weybridge, surrey have none, but gave me details for others around

He said it showed some available at:

Gatwick,

Eastborne-superstore, Currys, - (Phoned up they have one but no battery or charger, maybe you could haggle down the price and buy them separately online.)

Peckham,

New cross gate,

and Thurrock.

plus the place where I've reserved mine.... :-)

Been looking for the right HD camera for about 3 weeks now, doing a tonne of research, was tempted to go for a HDV tape version, the Canon Hv30 as it is supposedly one of the best cams available for under a grand....and its still easier to edit footage off a HDV tape then with AVCHD....but I'm sure my computer will manage....

But this price is too good to miss...

So many thanks to the original poster....you've saved me around £350....
assuming the camera is still there when I go to pick it up.

Cheers.

I got my smaller battery changed.

I took a copy of the page which showed that the 130 is the one supplied with the machine.

I also showed the assistant the battery life page. I explained I was concerned about ruining the camera as the 70 was not mentioned in the book. They then checked Partmaster - which was great as the prices are such a rip off, they said it was nearly half the price of the camera. They were then keen not to give a £100 discount - I mentioned other older cameras would have the 130 battery and asked them to check. Well blow me if they didn't have another identical camera in with the battery so it was a simple swap.

The batteries seem to go missing as they are on the shelf, and the assistant will probably pick up one sitting around, so follow the advice above and you should be laughing.

ALSO GO ONLINE FOR WHICH OTHER CAMERAS HAVE THE 130 BATTERY - they can raid that box and swap over!!

Tried to get them to take one out of a new box but they wouldn't they did look at all the opened boxes ,but they were all the same.Iv'e had an email back from Panasonic basically saying take it back get a refund i'm well annoyed.

I have been playing around with the camcorder and have found that when filming in low light conditions there is a vertical line on the far left hand side of the picture. Could anyone else who has this camcorder see if they get the same effect when filming dark objects or poorly lit scenes? I just want to know if it is a fault with my camcorder or just normal.

Thanks to anyone who can help.

I have uploaded a screen capture showing the effect. For the record, it looks worse when in motion.

Have you got the arrow on the right side of the picture there,The lines on the right hand side isn't it.If the line isn't in the viewfinder or lcd when you film it shouldn't be there,

It is not normal my friend. Something wrong with sensor or LCD screen.

Currys agreed that something was wrong. It seems to be a problem with the sensor - in bright conditions there is no problem but as soon as the light is low or record dark objects, the problem returns.

I went to newport today to exchange the camcorder but the one they had was covered in scratches so I kept the one I had. I can still get a refund if I want. Do you think I can get Panasonic to repair the camera under warranty?

It would be wise to send the camcorder off to Panasonic. There is absolutely no point getting refund from currys as you can't get this camcorder for this price anymore. Panasonic will repair and return it back to you free of charge because the warranty starts from the date of purchase. Call 0161 3084092 and you shoud be able to log the fault. Don't worry. They will fix it.

I agree with fullmoon you'll be lucky to find another,Might be worth taking out the extended gaurantee,For those like me who ended up with the small battery,I'm still giving Panasonic customer care big hassle with emails every day till i can get past the robots that work there,However iv'e bought a replacement VW-VBG260 Battery off ebay, iv'e emailed a few of the people who already bought this and unlike most other replacement batterys this one works with the original charger and shows battery level on lcd,One guy using it on a new panasonic says he gets 3 hours 55minutes,Looks very promising and is only £30 i'll let everyone know when it gets here.should take around a week from hong kong.

When you do get the battery if you could post a link up it would be much appreciated. I have not seen one previously that works with the original charger and shows battery life remaining.

Cheers :)

Just a little bit more info. According to currys t & c, the extended warranty can be bought within 1 year from the date of purchase. It will cost £3.49 per month for this camcorder and can be cancellled anytime. BUT manager have a right not to sell the extended warranty after a fault was identified. So the chance of getting the extended warranty is 50/50. So if I were you, I will simply use Panasoinc Warranty to get the camcorder repaired free of charge. Problem solved.

Well thanks to Monsieur Jonsen.. I got one too .. sadly tho it was from the Newark Store. I asked the guy on the phone to reserve the last on e for me. I knew it was opened but he assured me all complete. I get there. Missing instrcutions and software pack. What an outfit. How can you lose that?. "Customers sometimes get loaned them" ... and why no 'feature sticker\ on the LCD screen .. why has it been removed? "to do with copyright sir|" Are these people for real?. Bottom line is the Manager made Malcolm Tucker from The Thick Of It ...look positively amenable and easy going. He would have none of it and said no furhter discounts .. he could print off the manual from the site and that went for the software. I reluctantly agreed cos it is agood price. But I regret it now. I have contacted Panasonic to see if they can supply and lodged a full written formal complaint to Currys re the attitude of those attending as it were. No wonder theyre having financial difficulties. I got ANOTHER opened but perfect one from Sheffield, Heeley. What a nice bunch in comparison. So - the Newark lot reckon you have no rights of return .. cos its Sold As Seen ... bolleaux! What an experience, readers!
