This is my first post so go easy!

I have just bought the Panasonic HDC-SD9 Camcorder from Amazon.co.uk and when you buy from them, they throw in a free 8GB Memory worth £41.09, which is handy because the camcorder itself doesn't come with a card. Amazon are one of the cheapest places to get this camcorder at the moment as well. It was the best camcorder in the TIPA 2008 awards too!

Just bear in mind, the discount is only applied right at the end of the transaction.
#2
bear in mind you can get these cards for under a tenner now though so not really saving £41.09 on the memory card.

Direct link added to post

yes the memory card being free is good but i can guarantee you its not worth £41.09 ...

especially when on the same page they advertise a 8gb class 6 memory card for £9.69 i think it was! and then stating people brought that with it!
#5
Fair enough, they may be over-exaggerating the value of the card, but they are already one of the cheapest sellers of the camcorder plus you get a free card as well, so can't be all bad!

393.38 delivered at dixons, possible £15 quidco cashback making it a little cheaper, buy a 16gb memory card maybe from mymemory

This camera was given a good rating here; http://www.reghardware.co.uk/2008/10/08/roundup_camcorder/page4.html

Key features: 3 CCDs, HD resolution of 1080i

The price appears to be about the best available (using pricerunner comparison).

Shame they use cheap tricks to con you into thinking you are getting a bargain.

£382.95 with a free 4gb card here
#9
Good deal though if you want one. I would pay the extra for the bigger card as I think 4gb will just prove annoying if you use the better quality settings.
#10
tbh id get 16gbs prices arent bad.

we got one of these a week ago, it is truly aamazing quality on our 42 inch plasma, well worth the money imo!!

How are owners with these or HDD camcorders storing their material? With a tape I have always kept the tapes as source material - & never had one fail to play - but you obviously can't do that with a HDD & I wonder if people do it with flash memory (ie use the card only once). Given that home burn DVD's have a very uncertain life I am wondering how people are keeping those memories that MUST be safe? Or are you just keeping your fingers crossed with a home burn DVD?
#13
I may be wrong, but I think you can't store high definition footage on a regular DVD (at least to be able to play it in a regular DVD player). That's what's putting me off getting a HD camcorder.
#14
I guess, you'd just need a DVD player that was HD compatible? Giving 4.7Gb of HD content? That seems possible, but in reality I'm sure its not the case.

It's actually 1080p.

I think a Bluray recorder and player. Until they become more mainstream and affordable I guess you could just play it via the camera like in the olden days but I'd prefer a less improvised solution.
