Looks a good deal, good first post. Well done and welcome to HUKD.
seems pretty good to me!
if this is true i`m bagging one , i had a hdc-sd5 that i got cheap ( £200 with no battery ) but sent it back to amazon for a refund as i couldnt find one anywhere

just looking at previous QVC deals and majority of them are mega cold for some reason

5% quidco maybe as well
5% Quidco?

274.44 - 5% = 260.72 + 5.95 (P&P) = 266.77

I think that's right...struggling with my mental arithmetic this afternoon...
got to checkout and then though do i really need it hmmm need to do some quick homework first , am off to avforums

Review for it for interested people, looks really good to me, just wish I had the money for it right now :(
i`m gonna take a chance and get this its def worth a punt , spare batts are a ****** though and pricey as i found with my SD5
good deal heat added but waiting for blu-ray to come down as its better
Oh boy, I have this, it's awesome. I've used it in Egypt, Morocco and Greece. Battery life is very good, the quality of the video is fantastic. The ONLY gripe is the video editing... if you want to edit the video, you need a VERY powerful PC, even for running the software.
I paid £480 last May so this is a good deal for a durable video cam.
Excellent price for an excellent camcorder. I paid £100 more just 1 month ago albeit with a £50 rebate from Panasonic.

What? Better than what?
What? Better than what?

i saw a blu-ray camcorder expensive but waiting for it to come down unless this is blu-ray:thumbsup:
This looks like a very good deal. I might just have to buy this
Not sure what blu-ray has to do with this...blu-ray is a delivery platform for content not a camera standard.
I bought this 3weeks ago from Costco at £298.99 inc VAT. I'm contemplating whether to return this to Costco and take advantage of a further £25ish saving. . . . although I did get an extra years guarantee with Costco, as they give 2year guarantee!
I want it but just know it will be cheaper in the coming months!
I was holding out for the Canon HF100 but at half the price this is a superb deal.
awesome deal
just ordered one before they go and i lose out again

TO be clear it depends what your criteria for 'better' is - I chose the SD9 last year because at the time it was the smallest lightest quality full HD camcorder available - and yes despite it being full HD does not mean it's hte best - that depends upon all sorts of aspects such as quality of the lens, the compression ratio etc etc - just saying somehting is blu-ray or full HD in isolation does not say any hting about the quality of hte image you'll end up with.

Simply for my criteria on 10 months of use I have been very happy with this camcorder and if anyone wants to pm me I am happy to take any questions or queries from anyone thinking of buying one.
How much footage will the memory card hold?
It has 4 video quality settings, and 2 photo quality settings..... 4Gb hold about 30mins on 1080p highest quality, and I think the lowest quality holds about 2hrs worth..... just enough for the standard battery which has a life of 2hours!

Said on a video i saw 7mins on highest quality per 1gb. I suppose knocking it down to 720p would get you more footage.

Full hd is full hd, Blue ray is just the media used for storage.

depends upon quality (bit rate to card etc) - but I get about 60 mins at full HD to an 8GB card, and you can get 16GB card for around £16 (go for class 4 or 6) from for around £16-20 . I use a transcender 16GB from play for almost a year with no problems.
I've been eying one of these up this week for a purchase next month but at this price I when straight to the QVC site (via Quidco) and placed an order!

I think these are end of life now as a new model is due but its a stonking camera, loads of good reviews though most say that it can struggle in low light. Check out the review at

I looked into the length of recording for the Canon HF100 and found the following for an 8gb card (so 30mins on full rez 4gb card is about right!)

lp mode-5mbps=3hrs
sp mode-7mbps=2hrs20min.
fxp mode-17mbps=1hr

The price was £332 but that's when the Panasonic £50 cashback offer was on.....which would have been £282.

30 mins at the highest quality. To be honest i wouldn't even bother with the lower quality settings as that would defeat the object of what u want in the first place! I have the HS9 (QVC TSV). Only difference being an in-built 60gb hard drive. I paid 399 just before xmas. I've hardly used the hard drive at all. I just got a Class 6 Transcend 16gb SDHC card from 7dayshop for under 20 quid delivered. That holds 2hrs of best quality footage. As far as picture quality, indoors in low light isn't so good, not really bad but this camera does need light. Outside in bright daylight the recordings are phenomenal. And this price is amazing for an amazing bit of kit. Just waiting for a half decent video editing software that can cope.
chances of getting £50 cashback as wel on this ?

The £50 cashback was only on fo a short period of time - a promotional offer that most of the manufacturers were doing. It's expired now though.

No. Cashback has been restricted to just the Lumix G1 product now.
