Looks like it's called the FX75 in the States and FX70 in Europe (to stop grey imports I guess):
http://www.dpreview.com/news/1006/10060102panasonicfx70.asp

Assuming that's correct there's a review here:
http://www.steves-digicams.com/camera-reviews/panasonic/lumix-dmc-fx75/panasonic-lumix-dmc-fx75-review.html

If you want to skip straight to the review conclusion page:
http://www.steves-digicams.com/camera-reviews/panasonic/lumix-dmc-fx75/steves-conclusion-81.html

From that conclusion page:
"Bottom Line - Panasonic's Lumix FX75 is a stylish and powerful compact digicam. Featuring a 14-Megapixel imaging sensor, 5x optical zoom lens, Power O.I.S., 720p HD video capture with dedicated video recording button and a 3.0-inch Touch LCD screen, you will be hard pressed to find a camera with more fun and useful features. These features are supported by its robust performance and good image quality. With a MSRP of US $299.95, this is an excellent choice for anyone looking for a touchscreen digicam. "

Hmm, doesn't seem so bad to me - there is a similar Samsung one around at the mo for about half the price but this has slightly better spec at 14MP - plus Lumix are pretty good from my experience. I don't think it desreves cold so have a little heat.

It's annoying when people vote cold without saying where you can get a better deal! There's not many reasonably priced cameras with lenses this wide and it's a Leica made lens, so it should be sharp.

It's not as good as a DSLR for quality, of course, but nowhere near as expensive as a DSLR either!

I agree - it's helpful to everyone if you explain why you vote cold. There is a similar post on here for a Samsung which is tempting but it's such a minefield buying cameras as they date so very quickly meaning the latest model can be reduced heavily after 6 months or so.

That's why I posted the independent review. It's not always easy to find one, but it helps quite a lot to get some expert opinion. The Steve's Digicams and DPReview sites are very useful and seem to be reasonably consistent about how they review cameras, so I do find their opinions reasonably trustworthy.

It's still tricky though because a good opinion given 2 years ago wouldn't necessarily rate such a high rating of the same camera today.

This is great camera for a great price.

This is not to be confused with the cheap sub £100 model. This is a point and shoot with a good lens it and F2.2 with zoom that works on video and AVC support. when you buy a camera the lens is a very important component. Panasonic have a very good reputation in this space along with Canon.

The lens is also ultra wide angle. Comprising 7 elements in 6 groups, including 3 aspherical lenses with 5 aspherical surfaces. This all reduces distortion / chromatic aberration.

Anyway this all means sharper pictures. This is a good illustration of having a brighter lens! http://www.nikonians.org/html/resources/guides/understanding_dof/index.html

This was £199 on launch Sept 2010 so this is a very good price for a great point and shoot.

About the model PANASONIC Lumix DMC-FX70 I thouhgt at first it might be a Dixons only (or DSG only) model made for them these tend to be later models with better specs (e,g, bigger screens) than the stock model however is the model for the EU.

Oh as with all Panasonic cameras be careful with firmware updates. They tend to do nothing that stop third party batteries from working!!

As stated above, the panasonics along with canons are the best point and shoot cameras and at this price it's a good deal.

i would rather get the older fx60 model at slightly cheaper price as I am not a touch screen fan
