8x Zoom Lens
The 8x zoom lens on this camera is a Leica DC Vario-Elmar model which has Leica’s trademark image quality and sharpness. It also covers the 28mm (equivalent) wide angle perspective, ideal for group and landscape photos. There is also the option of extending this range to a 10x Intelligent Zoom. This uses Panasonic’s Intelligent Resolution Technology – separating portions of outlines, detailed texture and soft gradation plus data processing pixel-by-pixel. An effective 1.3x extra zoom range is achieved with no loss of resolution. The camera also has Extra Optical Zoom. This simply magnifies the central portion of the image area with no manipulation. It extends the zoom range to 18x at a resolution of 3 Megapixels or under.
Intelligent Auto
The iA mode uses a combination of MEGA O.I.S (image stabiliser)., Intelligent ISO Control, Face Detection AF/AE, AF Tracking, Intelligent Scene Selector and Intelligent Exposure to deliver the perfect photo with no setup needed. The camera recognises what type of scene it is being presented to it and if any faces are present, then keeps your subject sharp and correctly exposed until the moment you press the shutter.
