Without wanting to re-open the 'is it worth it over the TZ7 / TZ8' debate, the TZ10 has dropped another £15 at Amazon to £239.99 delivered. If you're after this particular camera it's now cheaper than ever!

This is the cheapest I've seen this amazing camera - I wonder if Jessops will price match so I can be playing with this today? Heated and repped, cheers!

decent price but with the canon s90 down on amazon then take out £30 cashback works out great if you dont need the 12x zoom from panasonic and hd video.

I ordered this a couple of days ago at £254, so quick email to amazon about the new lower price and hey preseto refund of the difference. That's good customer service :)

Most people think the gps on this is just a gimmick, but I'm going travelling for a few months and it would be great to load the photos on flickr or google to show family where I was when the photos were taken. Hopefully battery life won't be too bad, but I'm going to buy a cheapo from amazon or ebay. Something like this: http://www.amazon.co.uk/iBox-PANASONIC-DMW-BCG10E-Compatible-Panasonic/dp/B002BIPUDG/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1274820055&sr=8-5

Did they eliminate that annoying noise when stabilization and AF are operating while recording video in this model?
I found TZ7 quite annoying, although still have it.

Please see the clip describing that problem on my TZ7, and please confirm if TZ10 suffers from the same issue.

think my tz65 does that. sounds like the mic's picking up an internal sound of a motor. very annoying once you know its there.

got a three year cover with mine so, will just wait a couple of years until it 'breaks' then get a TZ12 or whatever the latest one will be!
#10
voted hot - because it's a great price for this item - but i think that the tz7 represents better value for money, without seriously compromising any necessary features.

Oh - what's the cheapest anyone can find a genuine panasonic battery for this?
#11
There was a firmware update for the Tz7 that was supposed to reduce motor noise when zooming. Can't say i really notice it on my new Tz7 when using video.

Having had this camera for a few weeks now, I must admit its great for photos as a point and shoot, however if you want this for movies, just a point there is an annoying hiss (sound) when recording in any mode it makes no difference if your'e zooming in or out the hiss is always there. There are a few films on YouTube where you can hear this hiss.

Voted hot as this is a great price

Does anyone know the TZ10's video performance low light indoor? How does this compare to the Panasonic FZ35 / FZ38 for video quality?

Really wanting to buy a good camera with good video capability as don't want to carry around 2 of everything, batteries, charger etc for holidays. Debating whether to bite now or wait.

I know now is a good time to buy a PC as all the major new platform and chipset is out. What about for cameras and camcorders? I know tech always moves forward but does anyone know whether there is any big tech improvement rumoured to be coming along soon?

From the first review on amazon...

.....
Fantastic bit of kit

UPDATE

You do get a slight clicking sound when you are zooming on video mode, and you can clearly hear it in playback.
When playing back the HD AVCHD movie clip on a large TV screen, you do get slight blocking, but still very good.
When you order a new battery, (which you will) make sure the model number of the battery ends with the letter E, IF NOT IT WILL NOT WORK.

Fantastic price. I am so tempted. I noticed the price has been creeping down from £279 down to £255 the other now.

Would be interested to know if that compatible battery works with this camera.

If you don't need a camera, don't buy a camera.

They are totally different.

I am still undecided whether to get the TZ10 or the Samsung WB650 as both are very similar but as the Samsung is slightly cheaper and still feature rich i'm just not sure. If anyone has the WB650 i would be keen to hear some feedback. Steve

why not check places where u may find a fx40 with HD recording going half the price nearly on auction site! MR Ocean Blue1 hope it helps!

I have the same dilemma myself Steve. I hear great things about the TZ10 but I think the WB650 is a better camera. I am specifically interested in the GPS function and one thing that I noticed was that I think you need to enter into a menu to turn GPS on or off with the TZ10 (Ithink they expect you to leave it on all the time so you have a 'lock') whereas the WB650 has a button on the top of the case.
That said, from the reviews I've read people don't have great things to say about the GPS on either of them.
Amazon has recently dropped the price on the WB650 as well.

Didn't know about the WB650 camera, but after reading the Amazon review, the GPS side of things don't look too good. Whereas the Lumix GPS appears to work extremely well from the reviews I've read. This is the main reason for me upgrading my camera so I can GPS tag them like I do on my phone. The Sony HX5 looks good, but I think I still prefer the TZ10

Those of you who are thinking of buying this, should check out the Sony HX5V camera, after looking at all the reviews it comes out on top I think. Plus it has a few cool extra modes on it to sweeten the deal. Plus the HD Movie mode is amazing, I tried the Nikon P100 and it was no where near as good as the sony.

Good deal tho hot!

I was recently looking for an excellent low-light camera and had it down to the Sony HX5 and the TZ10 but was pointed towards the FUJI F80 instead. Around £50 cheaper and picture results just as good. Bought it a few weeks ago and have not been disappointed, excellent HD videos and pictures in low-light conditions and no distorted sound at all on the videos I recorded at a concert. Highly recommended and worth a look!

doh missed it - looks like price has gone up again!!

Here is a nice review I found for the tz10. Switch it to 720p and you should see whether or not you like the quality the camera produces: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TWzYZGltyxY

Also, on the cameralabs website, the written review compares this to the tz7 and also the sony hx5 (the other camera I was looking at). At the end of the day, if you don't want gps, the tz7 is hard to beat. There are better low light performers (the fujifilm f70exr I believe) and the sony hx5 can do 1080i hd recording vs the tz10's 720p, along with adding altitude and direction gps data into photo's.

But, for me, a reputable brand like panasonic with quality lens, superzoom and hd recording for £240 notes is good. The price will surely come down further, but will do on all electronics if you wait.

Have you tried the Samsung yourself then in order to slate it? The WB650 is highly rated on specialist camera sites and has a 15x optical zoom plus some very good features. Hence why I am not sure whether to get the Samsung or the Panasonic. In fact some reviews actually give a better rating to the Samsung.

Glad i'm not the only one stuck between these 2 cameras. With the WB650 I also like the mapping idea with the GPS where it will show a visual map. Having read a lot of reviews the Samsung seems to be highly rated for it's price. ...but i'm still undecided hah.

Do you have direct experience of both cameras?? I have used neither although I have seen both and both look equally well made. Having read the reviews and looking at the specs I can only see the Sammy leading the way. Yes I am sure the TZ10 is a great camera and I ahven't ruled it out so I'm interested to know why you'd rule out the Sammy.

Kudos for the pointer to a great review. Repped.
