does superb HD video
#2
I did order the TZ10 earlier (also dropped in price today), but cancelled it for this as you save £90 altogether with the £15 credit card discount.
#3
Will AVC HD light play on the Ps3 without conversion?
#4
I knew it would drop below £200 at some point, this was my buy price....yet I'm hesitating....
#5
I ummed and ahhed about this Versus the LX3 before Christmas.

Went for the LX3 in the end, as it only cost a bit more then...but if the TZ7 had been this prize, I'd have pounced on it like a hungry dog on a pork chop.

Great camera for the price, voted Hot...and from Amazon, my fave online retailer.
#6
best camera in world, hd movie better than most hd camcorders.
#7
Typical, been wavering about buying this camera for months now, then along came the TZ65 for £149 and was going to get that, then changed my mind again wanting the HD video so ordered TZ7 this morning at £219.99, they must have waited all of 2 minutes before dropping the price. Gave them a call and was told that they would probably automatically update the order to £199.99 on dispatch, and if not they'd refund me the difference :-D

Lets hope the SD card I ordered from mymemory arrives in time for me to have a play this weekend, not sure the inbuilt 40mb will cut it. Anybody know why they design a 10mp camera with HD video capability and then give it enough internal memory to cope with 10 photos and a 3 seconds of video.
#8
Damn, I only just bought the tz65. :-(

Dammit, I bought the TZ65 as well, very tempted to return it and order this...this site!!!

Very good camera, I have paid 290 for it last year. Still the best point and shoot camera around with really good and advanced features. The quality of this camera way way better than what you get from majority of them in same league. Hot Deal.

TZ65 is still a really nice camera though! Only really worth the extra if you are fussed about the HD video (baring in mind that HD video only remains in HD on the memory card, your computer or on an HD disk i.e. a Bluray if you have a recorder for it. If you burned that video to a DVD its no longer HD.)

Very hot deal though. This camera is £100 extra in other places!
#13
great price! probably going to phase it out now as new version has been released. i would buy this straight away if i had any money :(
#14
Really fancy this...Anyone know a good "big and cheap" card that will be suitable for loads of HD video? Thanks
#15
guys i would hang on further... the tz7 is no longer listed on dsg sites yet still in stock instore. expect a ***.97 price drop...
#16
I think it's come down because the TZ10 is coming out, and that will have builtin GPS/Geo Tagging. I'll probably hold out for that personally (though I already have a TZ5 and a ZR1)!
Voted hot anyway
#17
wow i bought this when it was £260!! top camera
#18
Best camera i've ever owned. Worth the money.
#19
Wish I had £200 spare. Amazing camera for the money.

There's no way a top quality camera like this is going to go very much lower. You will still have to pay at least £150.00 for an old TZ5, if you can find one.

This is a superb camera and under £200 is a steal.

Shame I don't need a new camera!;-)
#21
You SHOULD hesitate, as the Canon SX210IS is out. 14x zoom, superior HD, plus many other improvements. Picture quality is also in a different class. Then again, it costs £299, so it should be.
#22
This is one brilliant camera now at a great price.
The HD video is outstanding and the camera is a
doddle to use. I love it. I have a marvellous picture of a
2cm long poison dart frog taken in Costa Rica down a
hole in the ground. Superb. Send me a private message,
I will send you a copy.
Read the review on CNET or REVOO.

This looks compact but not compact enough to carry around in your pocket, so if portability isnt really a matter of concern why not get a real DSLR (many of which now do HD videos)?

Have read comments abt the good pic quality this git but i wonder how that compares to a DSLR?

I know what you are saying (I have a DSLR..but also want to get one of these) but what it comes down to is lenses and again I know you can get some good focal range lenses for DSLR's these days but you will still not get the portability that you would with a compact like this....good price.....soooo tempted.......just gutted I had to get car tax this week :x

I have a dslr and also a panny tz4, rarelly use the dslr now adays, just too big to carry around. A digital slr is grat if you wish to play around with depth of field, apetures etc, but most people want a small camera that takes good images. If i had my time back i would not of purchased a dslr. On a dreary dull day even with a dslr the pictures are poor just the same as a point and shoot.
#26
Can anyone comment on how much better the video is compared to the Sanyo Xacti VPC-CG10 posted on here??
#27
Hot! Nearly went for the tz65 but was determined to wait for this to drop sub £200! I just hate waiting for it now!!!!! I don't think it will drop a lot more seeing as you can already get the TZ10 for £279, and thats only just come out.
#28
I see the red one is still £65 dearer, perhaps if the red one was under the £200 price tag id go for it. The TZ10 is the new version, but after reading a review about GPS always being on, even when the camera is off, i think gimmicks like this arent really needed on cameras at this grade. Its like when a mobile phone was only a phone, look at them now. I like a camera with features, but where does it all end? Im also not a fan of what ive read about panasonic batteries lately, especially at the price for a spare. Hot offer though

It fits in your pocket, no problem at all.
For anyone in doubt out there, just read the
reviews on CNET or REVOO.

I own the Panasonic and what clinched it for me was the ability to zoom in and out when videoing in HD which the other Canon model of the time did not (can't remember the model now but I was a Canon owner of an older camera at the time). Can anyone tell me if the Canon SX201S mentioned above can zoom in and out whilst videoing?

quick question for ya: when you playback the video through the tv, can you hear the noise of the zoom motor?

Anyone know what guarantee you get from Amazon, have seen it for £209 with a three year guarantee, may be worth the extra.

I had a DMC FZ28 and bought the TZ7 for its HD movie capabilities which I find are at least as good as many of the cheaper HD camcorders on the market. I also have a Canon dslr and a selection of lenses which since buying the 2 Panasonics haven't been used much, so much so that I am seriously thinking of selling them

The TZ7 is and very capable camera and produces great results in most conditions. I do find that I miss the ability to go fully manual at times and I also find its good to keep the ISO at 80-100 and not go above that unless absolutely neccessary.

not that hot - cheaper elsewhere (directfoto - with 20% discount code + quidco!)

Yes it will!

Great price by the way OP!

If you want to see examples of the HD video and sound quality from the Lumix TZ7, then check out my YouTube Channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/hobbsy

I paid £290 in April last year
Excellent camera, although the battery life isn't too great.

An official spare Panasonic battery will cost you £32.61
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Panasonic-DMW-BCG-secure-Battery-TZ7/dp/B001RM8BUG

You'll want to pick up a nice class6 16gb SDHC card too, something like this Transcend 16gb card (I have this one):
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Transcend-16GB-SDHC-Class-Memory/dp/B0015AOK1O/

It doesn't come with a case, so budget that in too...

It's by no means a small camera ... you might struggle to fit this in your jeans pocket

I think they've fixed the problem now with the loose mode selection dial (?) .. but my one suffers from this

Not been too impressed with the quality of photos I've taken at concerts, but the HD video is excellent for £200

Based in Guernsey - will UK warranty be valid from them?
