A good price, a few cameras popping up and tempting me!

This one's a bit old though (2005) and I can't find a review, anyone else?

Thanks

You can get a later model for the same price at ebuyer with google checkout

http://www.hotukdeals.com/forums/showthread.php?t=62879

and I think the later one comes with greater magnification and a remote.

I bought GS35 model last week which is similar to the one on Bargain Crazy...

Edit - sorry GS27 doesn't come with remote....

If you do go for the GS17 I think you may have to buy a usb cable to connect your camera to your computer or buy a firewire cable if you don't have one.

Thanks for the feedback darkovo and gari189 :)

We've got the GS27, very happy with it but as previous poster says, you will need a firewire card and cable if you want to connect it to PC (which we've just done - bought the DV Dazzle Editor as recommended by someone on here).

A cheaper option is to buy a firewire card from Ebuyer
http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/78455

for £8.18. Comes with short firewire cable and Ulead Video Studio ver 8 on the CD

Alternatively you can buy a special usb cable to link it to the camera but I thought firewire might be more reliable....

From what I can see this camcorder doesn't have firewire, therefore the only way of transferring footage that I can think off would be via a TV card in PC that has the required inputs. I have a AverTV card in my PC that has an s-video port that I have used to connect my old 8mm camcorder.

The other Panasonic model that was mentioned (from ebuyer) does have a firewire port. If you also have that port on your PC, then this is the best way to connect. If your PC does have a firewire port, I think you can add one fairly cheaply.

iLink is another name for Firewire

Sony originally used iLink to get around paying Apple for the use of their Firewire trademark.

As with everything on Bargaincrazy, even the "reduced" price (£189) is cloud cuckoo. £130 is nothing better than fair price for this camera.

if anyone is looking for a decent case for this I can recommend the Lowepro 120
http://www.7dayshop.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=777_1&products_id=100409

I have a similar model gs35 and it fits nice and snugly, good quality case and some pockets for tapes, leads, spare batteries......
