How is this not going through the roof, less that 600 for a g20 with tcb or quidco
#3
Just bought 3, then I discovered that there were already 9 TVs in my house, so I recycled them :/
#4
£30.17 off with quidco (5%) would bring it down to £573.40
#5
SOLD!

It says reservation not possible so you have to order online with free delivery.

So tempted I have the 42" Panasonic Plasma, maybe time for an upgrade.
#12
The same T.V is £549.99 on Amazon.

Good for him, was it the PK350? I am sure this might be a tad better for the cash, but could be wrong

I could resist no longer! :) Will replace my beloved P50PX70...

'Just' £573 net after Quidco is amazing for this set!

Cheers OP

To the posters who mention LG, IMHO there would be no comparison!
#15
wow what a great deal, great find op, the panny G20 is a truly awesome kit, at this price its a steal. The bread knife wont agree to buying this.
#16
Well just bought, some are saying about buzzing noise, we will see..
But for 600.00 ... wow
Also with my bank card I get 1 years extra warranty on all electrical items
#17
It's @ £649 @ PCWorld - if John Lewis have any it is worth a price match....for the 5 year warranty - do it via online enquiry form on website - though OOS today

In previous years your comment would probably be correct. However when it comes to the 2010 sets theres very little to choose between the G20 and the PK590. Picture quality is pretty even and LG owners seem to have less problems on the whole with their sets. AVF is your friend!

Well, all I can say is that the last LG 50" full HD plasma I saw [don't know what the model was] had the worst picture I have ever seen on any plasma! It belonged to a carpet fitter friend of mine and when he saw mine in action whilst on a job, his jaw almost hit the floor! He couldn't believe how much better mine was.

I thought he must have been exagerating when he asked me to call and check his out - unbelievably bad even after I tried tweaking it!

Personally won't touch LG [remember Lucky Goldstar?] with a bargepole - there are now 7 Panasonic plasmas in our family household over the past 5 years or so, and we've never had a problem with any of them. PQ is the best IMHO.

If you mean this tv then it's not the same model

I am not liking the price of these coming down :-( not when i paid over £200 more 3 months ago !
#25
I paid 699 3 weeks ago from JL - they price matched PCW. Its a cracking TV, cheap at 699 so at this price its a steal. They are discontinued models but there isn't much difference between this and the new 2011 non 3d plasmas from panasonic (not from what i can see), which are about £300 more.

I was considering a PK590 at one point when this panny was over £850 and glad I waited. The screen is much better - hardly any reflection, and it has a great viewing angle which the LG didn't.
#26
Oh yeah, I stand corrected, slightly different model number. Anyone know the major differences between the P50G20B and P50S20B?

wouldn't buy without 5 yr warranty so chose the 46 from richers at 599

Can these things handle SDTV since there only a handful of HD channels. Also is it worth it with only 1 year warranty?

Panasonic Plasmas historically offer the best SD picture

At a glance the G20 has the following features compared to the S20:
- Freesat HD built in
- Vreal Pro5: better performance on fast moving sencenes
- Infinite Black 5.000.000:1(Native)
- THX Mode
- Better Screen coating with less reflection

The other one seems to have freeview hd. Don't know anything about either telly but for £50 less and freview hd (much better for people without a satalite dish) that seems to be a very good alternative.

I believe the s20 has a completely different, inferior, panel
#35
Panasonic plasmas > LG plasmas

Great price, heat added.

Dont think its an easy as a choice as you would say, if you read the reviews on AV forums (who really know their stuff) their are pros and cons to each set

Let us know what you decide. Wondering if I should go with the LG aswell...

I looked at the sexy LG, Sony and Samsung sets - very chic, very sleek. But everywhere I turned for THE TRUTH told me that the panny plasmas, despite nitpicky niggles and pedestrian styling, still drive a massive steamroller over every other TV in existence (since pioneer left the scene).

I also knew a 5 yr gtee was a MUST, and a good one to boot - no-quibble, no-hassle.
