It seems to me Leicester Fosse Park is the home of HDUK bargains?
#2
Good find, pity I just bought a soundbar!
#3
Thats a great deal.

I have the big daddy to this system the SC-BT205 same base unit just with Tall Boy Speakers.

This is an amazing deal the main unit is fantastic. Blu Ray play back is also immense. Gadget Show recently gave this system 4/5 and gave it best in class.

If you are looking for an all in one solution find one.
#5
any chance anyone's got a sku code for this as pc world help line claim they don't sell the product?

cheers

Great price. Older model, hence why their probably making room for the newer ones. Doesn't have any HDMI inputs which would help when you have SkyHD, Xbox360, PS3 and a WD media player (which would have become redundunt had this supported H.264 mkv files). Don't really need the Blueray player, but would go nicely with my 46" Viera.

Decisions, decisions!!!
Cann't make my mind up between this,
the THX-Certified Logitech Z-5500 from ebuyer or
the Onkyo seperates from BestBuy and RicherSounds that were recently posted on here!

Can the OP confirm how many he saw at the Fosse Park store plz?

I've just been on the phone to PC World help line and the guy found it under product code 739249 but said only one in stock being the display model and that no store has more than one.

Also noticed RicherSounds have the SC-PT480 also for £199 which is listed as a new model on the Panasonic website

http://www.panasonic.co.uk/html/en_GB/410953/module/general/compare/productsCategory.html

Apart from the PT480 being just a DVD player but with ARC support....

Darnit... should just close my eyes and pick one!

This is an awesome system. I got the one from Currys in Aintree for the same price. Blu-ray is amazing on my Tosh 46" 1080p Lcd and the sound from the system is awesome and really easy to set up. Its got 2 optical in ports so if your tv has optical out as mine has its dead easy to connect all your other stuff via hdmi to the tv and then through put the sound via optical. What Hifi gave it 5/5 when it was priced at £400. Best bargain I have every bought!! SUPER HOT BARGAIN!

I have the z5500s and although they sound great they don't do True HD sound. Their highest quality is DTS. I can't get them to play the TrueHD that comes from my PS3, and if I bought an AV receiver that could, I would have to replace (most of) the Logitech speakers. So for future expandability I would go for the Onkyo solution. The z5500s are great value for money but they are a bit of a dead end.

Just remember that being a Panasonic system it will ONLY decode DTS from the internal BluRay player. So NO DTS from any externally attached devices.

I could not see any boxes on display, just the unit. May have some out the back or the person on the phone may be correct. You may even be able to get this for cheaper as the 97p shows they want to get rid of stock so if it is ex-display and the sign doesn't show it don't be afraid to haggle.

Blu ray or DVD, surely there is no choice to make!!

Thanks Uridium!
So, no DTS via the 2 optical audio inputs then?
Do you know if it will support DTS from attached USB drives or DivX or MPEG4 dvd's? or is it strictly just Blueray discs?

adamrwood
Blu ray or DVD, surely there is no choice to make!!

If that was the only difference between the 2 then it would be obviously the Bluray.
As I mentioned earlier, I already have a PS3 which I'm more than happily using as a Blueray player, plus most of my HD content is stored on an drive connected to a WD media player. So, it's really just the audio features that are of concern to me, plus the 'viera link'.
#17
Steaming hot if you can get hold of one.

Have to disagree...
DTS from my Xbox360 and SkyHD works just fine 8)

I have had this incredibly amazing system for about 5 months now. It is truly outstanding. Stunning picture quality and crystal clear sound. At this price it's a true bargain. If you can find one, don't hesitate, just buy it.

Just to save confusion, there is no difference between the system here and the one you mention. The 'tallboy' speakers are simply extended stands with the same sound output.

Great price for an exceptional system.

Wow! That is worth it for the speakers alone, and would still be a bargain!
