not so good if you want to connect something else ie a games console as it has no optical input. apart from that its alot of gear for £100. have some heat
#4
Nice find!
#5
No optical in, so I can't use it with my 360 nor PS3 for blurays :(.

I just ordered this bad boy
http://www.laskys.com/home_cinema_and_audio/home_cinema/all_in_one_home_cinema/samsung_ht_tz212r_xeu.html

£147.99 there and near £200 in pc world, comet etc

perfect for anyone who wants to connect xbox/ps3 by optical and you can also watch divx from usb
#7
no divx as far as i can see. a must in my case
#8
330W Also. I bought a 500w LG system the other week and i find, although its excellent, its not that loud. I cant imagine 330w would be even half decent

True, no UK version of Pana s-sound systems have DivX support! stupid or what!!

I voted hot as it's a good price for that home theatre dvd package, however I think the Sony DAV-DZ260 is a better option and only a little more expensive (- Amazon have it for £117.99 delivered, though out of stock currently otherwise there's Comet for £129.99 collect-in-store) . You get an optical and coaxial digital input for use with other surround sources and hdmi output as well as rgb scart - no divx though.

Gotta disagree about that "330 watts total power output (RMS) The higher the output, the better a system will sound." comment - typical marketing guff and way too simplistic.

There's also the issue of trying to compare outputs between different manufacturers as there's no indication they're going to use the same measurement methods anyway.

i didnt say that bigger is better. all i said was that i have a 500w system and i find it could be a little louder when surround sound is being used

I'm glad I don't live next door to you! ;-)

the spec list is long .. but comes from the school of flamin obvious!

"Remote control included Enables you to operate your equipment from a remote handset"

"1 disc DVD/CD changer Systems that hold more than one DVD or CD can play music or movies continuously - ideal for parties."

What a load of toss!

Not having a go at the deal .. just the marketing ploys people use nowadays.

There's a much more too it than that! Power is more to do with how loud it can go before distortion sets in. It will likely also be limited in volume by the manufacturer to avoid speaker damage (mine goes up to 11 ;-)). The speakers impact it as well, for example are yours 6 or 8 Ohms.

Also, be aware of the difference between RMS and PMPO.

cracking deal

Why did you think it was aimed at you? Just to make things clear it was in reference to what the OP posted (copied from the product item on Laskys website). It implied that higher total RMS power on any system is automatically better sounding which is just plain wrong. :)

I am well aware of all the technical arguments, but I DO know what you mean... I have a Panasonic Home Cinema system that is FAR more powerful than this, with 2x55/2x55/160/220 W output (all RMS) ie. 600W total, yet it has always been positively "restrained" compared with the old Aiwa 80W RMS per channel stereo amp that was performing the same function of playing sound from DVD and TV etc. beforehand!
Incredible how quiet DVDs are too compared with playing CDs on the same machine, and other imputs.

Noticeable that newer models at a similar market level to mine are even more high spec, so that is perhaps just as well.
