Great camera! Great price!

Also available from John Lewis at the same price.

Bear in mind there is no internal memory, so you have to factor in the cost of a high capacity (probably 32GB) high performance (class 10?) SD card, which will cost quite a bit.

I also suspect you could get similar (or possibly better) video performance from a Nikon D3100 SLR at a similar price, with vastly better still photos. In a recent PC Pro review, they said the video performance out of a Canon 550D was significantly better than the Panasonic HDC-TM700 reviewed in the same issue (Big brother of the SD600).

excellent camcorder I got mine from John Lewis (2yr warranty) it will use a good class 4 card which is the one supplied by panasonic but class 6 and 10 are cheap enough, it is also small enough to slip into a pocket and the power OIS is fantastic for video on the move, and takes fantastic low light video. A great camera for holidays, filming the kids, and even a bit of serious stuff. Far more fun and cheaper than a SLR that needs to film from a tripod and is nearly £200 more

I'd wait and see if Panasonic extend their redemption offer another month (they did from end of August to end September, so might again) - 5 year warranty and 32gb SD card both free:

I checked the redemption route before buying from john lewis. the problem I had was that according to the panasonic website you need to use one of thier official dealers and the cheapest I could find was £549 at currys, and I just didn't want to wait for a redemtion cheque or a card in the mail within (as told by currys) two months, the 5yr warranty is great but I settled for the 2yrs with john lewis and the camera for £449 and 32gb class 6 cards are £42 on amazon now ( However if you can get currys to pricematch john lewis and get 10% or 32gb+5yrs warranty thats a deal )

Currys won't price match John Lewis, the camcorder is a different colour. (_;)

But according to the panasonic website, John Lewis is included in the offer. They appear when I search for local stores included.

If it isn't too late, might be worth you trying to get the warranty and memory card, or 10% cashback from Panasonic.
