Amazing price for what is one of the best camcorders around, the SD700 is better and has 5.1 surround sound recording but its another £170.

Only issue with this camcorder is that due to its 50 fps many devices e.g. bluray players can't read the recordings. But if your equipment can cope (e.g. have a home server and put the recordings on it, plug the camcorder into the TV direct, etc.) then its the camcorder to get.

Tempted to get it myself, although its £150 more than I have budgeted for.

Yes you are correct about the 1080p 50fps and the difficulty with burning discs, but this camera will also record at 1080p 25fps and at 1080i and its default setting is 1080i, I borrowed one to try before buying this and for the price there is nothing to touch it, for around £150 less I would go for the sd60 model, mainly for the optical image stabiliser that panasonic use, £319 on Amazon

the 1080p50 is supported by the Panasonic 3D blu-ray players aswell.

Very tempting.

Trying to resist because I'll also have to upgrade my computer to be able to edit HD and also get a new TV that can do full HD.

Excellent find....I use a price comparison site called 'Skinflint' and there it is, top of the tree, best price anywhere.
