it is a good tv, but it is about 2 and a half years old. it was replaced with the PX80B last year and then the X10 model this year.
#5

can't find any reviews, however, I dont think you can go wrong with panasonic.

A customer review. No professional reviews about for some reason.

I used to repair Panasonic (amongst other makes) plasma TV's for a living and as far as I'm concerned they are one of the best for value and reliability.
Even though it's an older model I always think 37's give a cracking picture.

From memory these were great TVs. I think after these there were cutbacks. Look at the quality of the stand on the PX70.... solid and swivelable. The following PX80 has a fixed stand (cheap in comparison).

I have the PX60 and I still think the picture is really good (except I suffer from the odd purple snake which was solved in the PX70).

Yours is cureable too. You need a new control PCB (DG Board if I remember) with the latest software in it.

I had a new board fitted and it improved things - but not completely. The snakes are still noticeable on some scenes. I will have a look into it though to see if they fully cured it - it's under Panasonic's own 5 year warranty but they always claimed it wasn't a fault!!!

What is this purple snake? Ive got a PX60. Still has a superb picture..... and not a snake in site!

If you haven't noticed them then either a) you haven't got them or b) you have them and they have gone undetected.

Please do not go looking for them because once you do they are bleedin annoying. Some people claim they appear after months/years of snake free use.... and then they strike. If you haven't seen them don't worry - stay lucky!

Where are the 1080 Boo Boys? Twelve hours on the board and not one "But it isn't 1080p, it must be useless" comment:)

For the non-tech people out there (i.e. ME) I just need to buy a TV to watch, no gaming, may buy a Blue Ray and may get FreeSat - do I need 1080 or is this perfectly acceptable.

A simple answer for a simple person would be greatly appreciated.

Unless you sit 6 feet away from the screen, the human eye is not powerful enough to see the difference between 1080 lines and 768 lines on a 37" screen.

This TV is likely to be better at displaying normal TV via DVB or Freesat or DVD than most 1080p screens and certainly any 1080p screen at this price point. I have the PX80 model and the picture quality is excellent. If you are watching a BluRay and if you go and sit 4 feet away from the TV, you may notice some missing details and a bit more pixelisation. However, if you move back to your seat, you should notice a superior picture because what this TV lacks in resolution, it more than compensate in more important picture quality contributors like contrast ratio and colour accuracy.

Well that was a stunningly good answer and pitched right a my (low) level. I'll put my hand in pocket and get it bought. Thank you very much.

Just about to buy and it's gone out of stock

Thank you very much for the info on HD Yant

This is a fantastic television at a fantastc price, I have ha the 42" version of this for the last 12 months as a replacement for a Toshiba that went belly up. The pictureand sound quality are far superior to any of my friend equivelent TVs, some of which were far more expensive.

The reason you may not be able to find a review is the "BA" on the end of the part number just simply miss out the A.

ALL in ALL an absolute steal for this price!!!!!!!!
#29
Like 'Eurofighter' stated, this is a fantastic tv, i've got one and when it came out it topped all the awards. At this unbelieveable price its a no brainer!

cracking tele.... but has been superseeded.

but for the price it'll still knock the socks of anything in this price range

standard def throught built in freeview is brill.

I also own this television & have to say it is one of the best purchases I have ever made. It is far superior to the LCD televisions that many of my friends purchased in terms of picture quality when watching normal tv. Have owned it for 21 months & never had a problem, i love my tele! :)
#32
I paid just over £700 for this a couple of years ago, a fantastic telly & still going strong, can't recommend this highly enough, especially for SD content.
#33
whats the power consumption like?

out of stock and cannot be ordered
#36
I just managed to convince the mrs :(
#37
OUT OF STOCK :( shame I really need a new telly, my last one broke and ended up giving it away on Gumtree only to find a few days later I could have fixed it for about £50!
#38
they have sold out again so will prob be back soon

Nice set but tvs do go wrong and if a plasma panel fails out of guarantee its only fit for the skip. This is an old set but a good set but where are they getting them from? Why would these not have been sold already?

I'd recommend considering a set from Richer Sounds. A five year guarantee is only 10% of the retail price. Great deal. Buy a 32" set for £250 and you can have a five year guarantee for £25!

As far as I know you get the same deal on clearance products so definitely worth considering them if you are local to a RS shop. Please note I have no connection with Richer Sounds just seems like a good deal.

I had Panasonic 42" PX60 and it suffered from purple snakes on its analogue inputs, scart, s-video, composite and component. It was awful at times. The PX70 reduced purple snakes but didn't cure it completely I think. The PX80 range seems to be purple snake free.

One of my friends has this tv and it has an excellent picture - forget the stats, the contrast and blacks it produces make the image far superior to any similarly priced LCD screens
