Is this the best Plasma deal available? I have been lurking for a while and am looking to buy the best money can buy for under £2k, this screen has won lots of awards and I could not find any TV as good for the same price. I am going to try and get John Lewis to price match so I get the 5yr warranty and intend to match this with the Sony RHTG1000 stand which is just £799 from cheapelectricals.co.uk - again could not find cheaper and for under £2k this looks like a great system to me. First post so hope this is ok.

I would get the new model 70 (unless you don't like black) as it doesn't seem to suffer the dreaded purple snake issue. You cannot get JL to price match an internet site so I think you will struggle anyway to get the free 5 year warranty.

Have a look on AVForums for much more info. I just took one example of a supplier of the 70 from there...

The PX600B doesn't suffer snake syndrome. I suspect the speakers in the PX70 won't be as good as the PX600B, and it probably won't have the memory card slot or PIP functionality.

There was a great preorder deal however on the PX70 (can't find it) so i'd be more inclined to go for that model regardless.
Just as the PX600B was an enhanced PX60, surely there is an enhanced PX70 model on the horizon?

Where did you get that info from? It is not true. See here...

http://www.avforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=449268&highlight=purple

It is reported more frequently in the 60 because more people have them. The 600 and 60 have the same panel and processing.

True that sound will be better on the 600 than the 70. It does surprise me that people spend £1K on a TV but don't have an AV system though.

thanks for all the replies if I wait for the 700 model does anyone have any idea of the likely price/pre order deals or should I go with this one? - I take it when this model is replaced it will be cheaper to buy but can it get much less??

I thought JL price matched online bummer :-(

You should find all the info you need on www.avforums.com. I have not kept up to date with the 70/700 situation as I am still trying to sort out my snakes on my 60. Maybe just go and buy a Pioneer 427!

i'd recommend the reverse.

the pio's are much more prone to image retention than the pannys

I'll sit on the fence! Both have a remarkable picture but for me the sexy looks of the Pio's & better dark imaging detail edge my preference this way.

Both sets tho' have their downfalls.

I own two of these Panasonic Plasmas, this exact configuration of screen and stand. Thought long and hard before buying this model, I can honestly say six months on it was the right choice I made.

I bought PX600, when it had market value around £2000 and i choose this over PX60 as it can deliver better sound / better finish.

I do have £4000 worth AV gear at home, but i don't want my little daughter & wife to swich on my av equipments for round the clock TV viewing :)

Yes pioneer looks sexy, but caring is an headache. Screen burn / image retention, in particular!
