#3
WOW, what a first post - its so hot that its on the verge of sponteneous combustion!!!
#4
Truely a cracking deal.
I paid this for a 50" LG in the January sales !!!
#5
I forget John Lewis price match, but if they did and included five year warranty - well that would be the ultimate ' hotsupernova' deal
#6
good find, i think there is an upgrade model so that probably explains the price drop. still a great price tho.
#7
would John Lewis price match with warranty???

would John Lewis price match with warranty???

only if this company has a shop aswell as being online
#9
ahhhhhhh, bummer.

perhaps thats why JL sells it at the price it does as the free 5 year warranty is perhaps included in the price
#10
a few over at avforums have got JL to pricematch

Also available at http://www.tribaluk.com/panasonic-th50px60cab-plasma-tv-01620704.htm for £1308.28 delivered, but with possible 2.75% from quidco.
#12
I'm looking for the 42" version really but there seems to be a shortage now so a new model might be imminent.

For those with quido this is cheaper from tribaluk.com after quidco (currently at 2.75%) comes to £1272.39 inc post

I just cancelled a 50in plasma.
Think long and hard before ordering something this size.I have kids and thought of them being on this 24'7 really didnt appeal or the size of it taking over my lounge wall.
Not much is in hd yet so picture quality compared to your average 28in isnt fabulous.Quite distorted on some models I looked at in shops.
Unless your lounge is huge I would really opt for something smaller 42in max
#16
If your room is big enough a 50" panel is fine. This model will be getting near the end of its production as the new screens take over, thus it may not get much cheaper before becoming unavailable. I have a 42" screen and wish I had got a 50" now, lol.:)

Maybe I am being dim, but how can it be:

1366x768 pixels

and

1080i resolution

Surely you need 1920 × 1080 for 1080i?

I think it just means it can handle 1080i input.

Is this Panasonic 50' Plasma better picture wise and value than the Samsung 50' Plasma? I was thinking of going with the Samsung 50' Plasma until I saw this deal with stand

Does anyone whether this is a Grey Import?

THe panasonic is a much beter screen than the Samsung in fairness. Panasonic plasmas are the best in the business, yes they have just brought out a new model but bear in mind this screen was £1900 December last year and cheap at that price.

Its a fairpoint about the screen size; average lounge is around 14ft by 12ft. This screen is much too big for that sort of space as is a 42" really.
I had a 42" screen in a an average victorian terraced house lounge and it completely took over the room.

I dont believe so.

It looks like a manufacturer price drop to make way for the new model. I have heard that they are actually selling this screen in Panasonic shops for £1299 with a 3 year warranty, 1 year on site 2 years return to shop.

I have bought one, do bear in mind the sizeits the same depth as the 42" plasma I am going to replace it with but the width is 20cm wider :w00t: I have the space but this is a really, really big set.....

I've had the 42" version of this for a fortnight or so now and am very impressed. The picture even on standard definition connected with SCART cables is as least as good as the CRT it replaced, just much larger. In terms of size, yes it is a big screen, but that is all. In terms of actual space taken up by it, it takes up less room than the 26" CRT I had before - certainly it fits further back into the corner.

Now that I have had it a while it is certainly less obtrusive than the smaller CRT and way more stylish - just like a modern sculpture with the Viera cabinet. Even the screen doesn't seem that big after you have lived with it for a bit. How I managed to see anything on the 26" CRT I don't know. I don't have a huge lounge by any means. I sit about 14 foot away from the screen, but anything above 8 foot or so is fine. Any closer and the quality drops a little, but not as much as I would have expected.

Certainly no complaints from here. A brilliant TV and worth every penny.

Just to throw something into the mix, here is a review of the samsung plasma click here .It is not shabby by any stretch of the imagination,I think where it falls down is on the sound front but that can be easily remedied with a speaker system.Interestingly it won the what hi fi award for best 50"+ tv in the 2006 awards. This is based on many things performance and price for instance.
At £200 quid cheaper than the panasonic it has to be worth some consideration.

I am not saying it is better than the panasonic, they are fab plasmas, customers say it and so does what hi fi mag(though their reviews semed to be based on the 42" and 37")

Just thought it something you should look at:)

The Samsung is too noisey, it sounds like a hairdryer humming constantly.

I would go for the Panasonic without doubt. A bargain for £1300 with 3 year warranty !!

At least make it LOOK like a 50".

Totally agree with every word.

I have this in 42" and it is far less intrusive than my old 28" thing and my room is far from big:thumbsup:

Hi Chuck22,

I have been looking at the Askdirect site for a few days now as I missed the previous great deal of a couple weeks ago. They have the Panasonic TH50PX60CAB 50" supplied with deluxe floor stand for£1290.00 and the Panasonic TH42PX600CAB 2 x HDMI, Freeview + SD Card Slot & PC Input for £1215.00. I confirmed yesterday (20th) that these were now in stock. Unfortunately delivery is £150-£250 for me! I have asked John lewis for a price match on the 42" as I think the larger screen will be too big for the room- obviously the great attraction is the free 5yr warranty from JL. Has anyone else managed to get a PM form JL on this deal - still seems pretty good! Hope this is of some use to someone!

I completely disagree. My lounge is 14x12 and I have the 42" Viera (replaced a 32" CRT Panny). Doesn't look at all out of place and I would happily replace it with a 50" if I had the dosh.

Digital direct sold out this morning apparently, its still on the site but my mate ordered at 11am and has had an email saying they are out of stock and his order has been canceled.

I ordered just after him, havent had the email yet but he got his cancelation at 5.55pm they close at 6pm.

They are probably working down the list....
