CLOSEST PRICE I COULD GET TO THIS WAS ABOUT £730 - £750 (john lewis, martin dawes, laskys etc) BUT THAT WAS JUT FOR THE TV

I nearly bought the Viera 37" delivered and with stand via dixons for £769 with free delivery and 4% quidco.

Then I spotted this; it seemed to appear tonight but I may be wrong , but probably right as it is a BANK HOLIDAY SPECIAL.

----- NOT a 37" but the NEW 42" PANASONIC TH42PX70 (60 was the 2006 model)

--- AND IT COMES WITH THE PEDESTAL (even though it appears you dont get it on the product listing when ordering it; the PEDESTAL (£100 usually)is clearly listed as inclusive in the deal).

---- PLUS a £200 PANASONIC - with viera link (?) home cinema system ...

This package also comes with a Panasonic DVD Home Cinema surround sound system, SCPT450EB, with 1000W RMS power output and 1080p up conversion technology that up-converts standard definition (720 x 576 pixels) images from DVD to near Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) Level! - mp3 and radio too

AT £857.95 delivered its a wicked deal with the pedestal and VIERA cinema system- the cheapest I can find the free dvd system PANASONIC SCPT450 is £194 online alone, plus with the nearly £100 panasonic 42" pedestal, and the new Viera TH42PX70 -

THEN £21 offwith the DISC01 CODE AND FREEDEL07 KNOCKING OF MINIMUM £7.95 DELIVERY COSTS
TOOK THE PRICE TOO £827...

PLUS I USED QUID CO LINK - (4% off at about £32 - takes the deal sub £800)

AND AT THE SAME TIME AS ORDERING OPENED A LINK FROM EGG TO DIXONS AND LOGGED IN TO REGISTERED DIXONS ACCOUNT IN A HOPE I MAY GET ANOTHER 5% OFF

5% OFF VIA EGG (if i get lucky thats another £40 off but to good to be true I expect as that would mean a final amount of around £760 give or take a few quid

EvEN IF EGG DONT COUGH UP THATS STILL ALL THIS GEAR FOR £800 BASICALLY DELIVERED - SIMILAR DEAL ON COMET SITE IS 1100 or 1200 with free cinema system.

Where is it listed in the deal ?.....I can't seem to see it :?

I bough one of these a few weeks ago, absolutely cracking set. Not only is it's HD performance fantastic but it's SD performance is also and standard def is going to be around for quite some time yet. Plasma leaves LCD for dead as far as I am concerned. Heat given.
#3
I got this last year for almost double this price! It's the 60 model though, but it was worth it then. so this newer model, at half the price WITH a home cinema system is a steal!

Seems a good deal - voted hot for price only.

However, given the reliability issues surrounding flat panels, I would always have an extended warranty as my #1 priority when buying, hence I would look elsewhere, and/or get a pricematch via John Lewis.

PRICEMATCH VIA JOHN LEWIS IS OKAY BUT IT CANNOT BE MATCHED ON THIS DEAL AS IT IS A COMBINED SPECIAL OFFER - WITH THE HOME CINEMA SYSTEM THROWN IN

HENCE ITS ONLY POSSIBLE TO PRICE MATCH ON THE SET ITSELF - WHICH IS
£849.00 STILL - WHICH SEeMS CRAZY - IF YOU WERE TO MISS IT ON THE WEBSITE AND BUY THE SCREEN AND MISS OUT ON THE EXTRAS FOR THE FULL PRICE

- BUT TAKE ON BOARD THE EXTENDED FREE WARRANTY ISSUE.

ALTHOUGH ITS ACTUALLY CHEAPER ON JOHN LEWIS SITE ANYWAY WITH QUIDCO - BUT AGAIN ONLY FOR THE PLASMA UNIT AND STAND.PLUS ITS TO TEMPTIN TO GET ALL THIS FOR THE PRICE, ESPECIALLY WITH THE CINEMA SYSTEM BEING MADE FOR THE VIERA SPECIFICALY-

However the Panasonic's reliability is now industry recognised as the TH-42PX70 VIERA models have just received the "European HD-ready Plasma TV 2007-2008>" award.

The European ISA judging panel stated that "for movie enthusiasts, plasma displays are still the most cinematic performers. For the perfect illustration of this point, look no further than Panasonic's TH-42PV70 plasma display. It delivers almost perfect picture quality, and appearsfreefrom common fault and most impressive of all, is the highly affordable price. "

I've been waiting for a deal to come up on this TV. Nearly just went straight ahead and ordered it as i want a dvd/speaker package at same time. However a quick check on AVforums reveals there is a lack of inputs on the included dvd system and for anyone with sky+/hd you won't be able to get 5.1 surround from your sky box through the speakers with the dvd sytem. If anyone thinks otherwise please let me know.

Back to waiting for price to drop.:whistling:

Think i'l also stick to original plan to get amp and seperate speakers at same time, even though will cost more!

TV reviews are fantastic by the way, and voted hot as this is a HOT DEAL!

If you got the money go for it! You will not be disapointed :-D

I would recommend the TV I got the PX6042 and just bought from a family member the 37PX70 it's a stunning set, but only go for this (package) if you were not going to buy a speaker setup.

If you were gonna buy this Tv and also a speaker set i highley recommend a seperate package (amp, speakers, sub) as then in a few years you can add better bits to it without it costing you more and you have a hell of alot more freedom.

I did this a few years back and so glad i have, have upgraded the amp on mine and the speakers are next. With this speaker setup you are limted what you can do.

So does the pedestal stand definately come with this deal?
#10
DAMN i need a job quick --- though when i buy my plasma im getting 50inch miniumum and must be 1080p so i will wait and save up
#11
In the Product Specification is states

"Stand Included" .... "NO"

so i don't think the stand does come with it :?

I paid MORE than double for the PX60! :x Still happy with my purchase though.

yeh same, I bought the 60 fomr Currys just before the world cup! I just "almost double" so I didn't sound as much of a mug :-D

Either way I paid £1600 and it was worth it then, so this deal is a no brainer for someone looking for a new tv
#13
Im kicking myself for ordering one the day before....gonna ring them tomorrow to cancel, and re-order.

Also the KEL10 code will knock another tenner off.
#14
Was really tempted with this however, the lack of 'true' 1080p swayed my mind to wait out - possibly for an equable Sony or Samsung (such as the LE40M86BD model) - nevertheless, a good price, just need it to hook up to a HD feed and son's XBox 360 to ensure best real display:roll:

When you buy it, the ped stand is an itemised item on the receipt.

Fortunately I have been able to cancel my order from Thursday and place a new order today. Although they state the product is free, its worth noting the price has gone up since last week....although only by about 30 quid.

Less of the 'shouting' young man!:whistling:

Just another cautionary note, one of the Philips Cineos panels won the same award you mention, and subsequently went on to develop a host of unrepairable faults.

Thank you for posting & letting us know that the stand is included.

Can any one with this panel tell me how much the pedestal stand adds to the height?

Panasonic say that the panel is 680mm without the stand.
#18
Moob, I see what your sayng but Philips problem was with their lack of inexperience to the use of their newly developed clear lcd backlighting technology. Hence I dont really feel its a relevant reason to doubt what is without question now the most successfully sold and reliable piece of kit. The 70 version is based purely on the 60 which has proven itself to be the most highly awarded plasma in relation to cost and reliability against peformace. And as this version within this deal is only a facelift really by Panasonic on the multi award wining and reviewed THPX60 with a few mods as oppose to the introduction of new technology which was the reason for Philips' problems , and it was the LCD units that suffered (for Philips for ref) this should have no bearing on the reliability or in essence this plasma screens build quality on 2 year proven design, production and already used platform;

and this being still A SUPERB DEAL,

I went through the same thought processes myself..But,,, The max output res of your sky HD is 1080i which is probably going to be 95% of your viewing if not more your only or source will be the occasional HD/DVD you buy for the xbox, for this price and the picture quialty in standard def aswell as high def this is a steal...

Great find heat and rep added...

I think we're talking at cross purposes here.

I wasn't making any comparison to lcd/plasma, merely the fact that the set got an award is no guarantee of fault-free performance.

I know this is a good set, I'd like one, but have read of a few issues being brought up on this thread at avforums, which made me search for extended warranty.

Bottom line for me, is that if I'm spending the best part of a grand on something electrical or otherwise, I want piece of mind for a lot longer than a year.

Just to clarify, I'm not arguing this isn't a good price for the set, or a good deal, I'd just rather get a decent warranty.

dont get this one not the PX60

??? :?
#23
so this set isn't actually 1080p??

been trying to find out off other sites but seems they wanna hide this info

was going to buy the the 37 inch myself but as soon as i seen this deal ordered it straight away. the px70 seems to get some of the best reviews. GREAT SPOT

Shame the stand isnt included.
#26
The pedestal stand is included, it's itemised on the confirmation e-mail.
Been toying with buying this TV for weeks, with the discounts, home cinema etc this is a superb TV and deal.
I've registered here to say thanks to the "spotter".

I've been toying with the idea of buying the a 1080p TV for some time, the Samsung LE40M87BD my 1st choice. the only thing holding me back is that since I'll be mostly watching sports I'd want as close to a "judder free" TV as possible i.e. maybe a 100hz LCD or a Plasma. The other thing was most of the HD sources im going use are not 1080p (Sky HD, xbox 360 etc) so should i really pay the premium for something i may never really use?

I think im going get this deal, because its probably the best Plasma in its class/price range, it natively resamples 1080p sources and what's tipped it for me is the dvd-homecinema system thrown in, worth at least £200, seems like a great deal. Thanks to the OP.

Let me know if you get the pedestal as well as I still doubt you will despite what the email receipt might say.

Anyone know where I can get cheap extended warranty for this bad boy?
#30
I have just ordered one of these. My Order confirmation (shown on screen before e-mail arrival) states the following items are for delivery:

1 Panasonic TH42PX70 42" HD....Plasma TV

1 Panasonic TYST42D1W Panasonic Pedestal stand

1 Panasonic SCPT450EB Home theatre system

Total cost £818.74 (pre any quidco and possibly egg card cash backs)

You can check this out for yourself (as I did) with a dummy order and on the way through you will see that the pedestal stand is definitely included!

Thanks for posting this - for the Doubting Thomas's out there! :giggle:
I only wanted to be sure as it definitely states stand is NOT included and the model number is just PX70 rather than PX70PED. Great price for this bundle. Just hoping my new capitalone card arrives before the deal ends (4% cashback).

I'd also like a good deal on TV insurance if anyone finds one as best i could find was a fiver a month so £240 for extra 4 years :-(

No!!!!!!

Went to my local Dixons to have a final look (the deal is £1099 in store btw), and im now trying to order it and getting the dreaded
"Apologies, the product that you have selected is currently unavailable."

Why why why!!!
#37
Well i called up Dixons web sales to see if they had stock or could allocate it from somewhere else. It seems in the Greater London area the home cinema system is out of stock and thats whats holding back the deal!!

I can also confirm that the Plasma does indeed come with a pedistal stand.

Like Guv said, you've gotta strike while the irons hot on deals like this, took me about 2 days to talk myself in going for it and now im gutted.

Oh well i guess i saved myself £800 odd to spend another day :P
#38
they were out of stock late monday night. I've just ordered one at quarter past midnight (technically tuesday). I'm guessing they auto release certain amounts of stock daily?

Many thanks to OP (heat/rep given)
