This is a bargain I need to get rid of my 32" hannspree so i can buy this
#2
Be careful with this.

The page says 'panel only' so looks like it does NOT the pedestal to stand it on (which is sold as a seperate item). If you are planning on wall mounting then its fine otherwise you will need to buy the pedestal seperately at up to £100.

and 30 p+p.

At dixons the panel + stand is 699.99 (use code found elsewhere on here to reduce that by 20) with free delivery
#3
Yup - this is panel only as stated a couple of times in my post. I think they also offer free delivery on this item.

Empire Direct is also stocking the PED version of this item for £699.99, but it seems with the £20 discount code, the Dixons deal is better (that's if you don't want to wall mount)
#4
Not wanting to really bum up my own deal, but at Argos, as noted in this thread, you get the stand and a 3 year warranty if ordered before January 18th for £699.99 plus £4.95 delivery.
#5
I got one of these about a month ago at £749 from Richer Sounds with a free 5 year warranty (that was a bargain then, amazing how fast prices for these big panels are coming down!). I cannot recommend highly enough. Everybody who has seen it has commented on the stunning picture. Big bonus is that it also looks v.cool turned off!

If you can get one of these for less than 700 quid then do it. You won't regret it, trust me.

People voting this cold is absurd.

I really can't see how anyone would vote this TV at £629.99 cold! It really is an amazing TV - I challenge these cold voters to find something better (or perhaps they just need something better to do than to spend their time voting cold for no real reason and spoiling the website for the real bargain hunters)...
#8
People are voting cold as it is that price if you collect and another £30 to have it delivered. Also 7-10 days is a long wait and a lot of people have bad experiences with Empire. No point voting it hot if the retailler does not deliver on it.

There are a number of reasons that plasmas get voted cold here - one being that many people (for some reason) prefer LCDs.

Secondly, although I didn't vote either way, I reckon the Argos deal (£699.99) with stand (which retail at £100) and free 3 year warranty is better.

"At a grand it really is one heck of a bargain, and as such remains easy to recommend." Home Cinema Choice, October 2007 issue

There are numerous similar reviews for this panel. It is a superb piece of kit and at £630 represents excellent value for money, a real "Hot UK Deal". By all means post a warning comment if you think the dealer concerned is poor & feel free to recommend alternatives but don't vote cold just because the deal doesn't specifically meet your needs.

Incidentally for £29.99 you can increase the warranty to 3 years by taking out Empire Direct EDextra membership. This still undercuts the Argos deal assuming that you intend to wall mount

So...630+ delivery £30 + membership £30 = £690 - then add the price for your wallmount - doesn't really beat the argos deal, does it?

Incidentally, I didn't vote either way for this deal.

It's certainly a fantastic TV.

I got one from Richer Sounds, having been dicked around on an order for the 37" version from Empire Direct who had promised pre-Christmas delivery... While Argos aren't exactly one of my favourite shops either, £5 delivery is a lot nicer than £30, and considering a lot of people would prefer the pedistal, I'd probably go for them if I was ordering again today.

To be fair, I actually bought mine from John Lewis who price matched ED. I picked up from store (so didn't pay delivery), and also got the free 5 year JL warranty which was the icing on the cake.

As for the LCD vs Plasma argument, I have 3 big screen HD ready TV's all running 720P - a 50" Sagem DLP rear projector (lounge), a Panny PX70 plasma (bedroom) and a 32" Hyundai LCD (kitchen). In my opinion, the Panny and the DLP are very similar in picture quality (possibly with the plasma winning with better blacks), with the LCD being noticeably worse - particularly with fast moving motion despite a 8ms refresh rate. I know there are better quality LCD's out now, but even still, I do find the picture a little fake whereas the plasma looks more real. I'm no expert on the technical details, but merely reporting on what my eyes see.

In respect to wall mounts, I know a good company which can deliver either a tilting or fixed mount for less than £30 and the quality is amazing. If anyone is interested, see:

Fixed Wall Mount (£25 inc del)

Tilt Wall Mount (£29 inc del)
http://www.quatropi.com/p-20-vesa-wall-mount-tilt-bracket-lcd-plasma-32-62.aspx

I bought both (tilt for PX70, fixed for 32" in kitchen) and had no issues - all fittings are provided.

Hope this helps someone...

I've been looking at t.v prices online, humming and hawing about which T.v. I should get. But i must say that I find a website called sound and vision difficult to beat. There prices are very competitive.

Check them out and give me your opionions before I take the plunge and buy my Panasonic TH-37PX70B-WAL with them.

Can find the one with pedestal from digitaldirect.co.uk for £625 with postage of £70 which is the same company as sound and vision who are £695 inc free postage both companies at the same Bolton address. If I print it off the £625 details and go into John Lewis in Glasgow what are my chances of them matching the price??
#17
I rang John Lewis up to get through to TV department for a price match, switchboard said they'd take my order and take the details of the price match at Empire rather than put me through as they could do it. This was the 29th. They said they have a department that looks into the price matching and they are closed weekends but on Monday will chase it up and write back to you within five days to confirm if they do it or not.

I'm getting bored with waiting and just thinking should I drive the 30 miles to my local store and show them a print off? Love to know if they'd do it there and then. No reason why they cant ring them there and then, I'd do it if I was on commision.

I have heard of store managers being proactive and calling the PM in there and then, but I think they usually send it to their undersales department...

Worth a try though...good luck.
