Every image is richly expressive from bright scenes, such as scorching desert landscapes, to dark cave scenes. Contrast is enhanced by the new Real Black Drive system (a pre-discharge control system) and a higher base luminance from improvements made to the panel production process. The high contrast creates deep, robust blacks and reproduces scenes with a delicate balance of light and shadow.

You can enjoy beautiful cinematic reproduction of movie images. The images that are recorded onto movie film at 24 frames per second (fps) are reproduced at two times that speed by 24p Playback. This achieves film-like reproduction than with the 2:3 processing method.

Smooth gradation lends natural expression to images such as sunsets. VIERA brings you the wide colour range of the x.v.Colour standard and the natural colours made possible by the Deep Colour (HDMI V.1.3) standard through its compliance with the newest video standards. This allows one to enjoy natural images with rich expression.

In addition to brilliant picture quality, VIERA models offer the easy operation made possible by VIERA Link and the SD card slot. VIERA Link lets you operate other connected Panasonic AV components using only the VIERA TV's remote control unit. The majority of the VIERA line-up is equipped with a slot for large-capacity SDHC cards. You can view a slideshow of your photos on VIERA's big beautiful screen just by simply remove the SD memory card from your digital still camera, and slip it in to the slot.

:thumbsup:Voted hot, I'm currently awaiting John Lewis to see if they can price match it so can take advantage of the warranty they provide.

They don't pricematch online stores...your best bet is to use Sound & Vision (...an online store that has a shop in Bolton) where this model is currently being sold for £648 delivered.

£648 with 5 years warranty would be a great deal for this telly.

jl priced matched sound &vision for me well £654 with 5 yr warranty yesterday they took a day to call me back.

Would people please stop finding this TV for cheaper than what I paid for it!

Yeah, great TV, well worth the money. Not the most stylish of designs, but in a dark room watching a movie you won't notice the subtle lack of any curves apart from below the TV. Comes with decent enough stand that you can rely on. Nice array on inputs. Excellent picture quality.

I can not agree more.:)

JL Solihull wouldn't pricematch S&V when they had it at £649 but offered my it for £655 so for £6 I was happy with the 5 yr guarantee. Mine arrives on Saturday :)

Definitely worth giving JL a call. The Dixon's price is excellent but I'd rather pay the extra £14-15 for the guarantee. Voted hot all the same as this is a superb price

Ive seen this tv and you dont even have to change the settings for a decent picture. However if you tweak the settings and have had 150 hours+ viewing the picture becomes fantastic
#9
this tv is just dropping in price by the week , lets see if it will break the £600 soon , then i`ll get one.

I understand there are more technical places to talk about this, but are modern plasmas a no-go for gaming?

I paid £679 for my 37px80 only a couple of months ago! Good price...

Grrrrrrrr! I've just bought this TV from Dixons, half hour ago, but without discount! Voted hot.

I have had mine about 4 weeks now, John Lewis price matched Sound and Vision at £659 so got the 5 year warranty.

Supurb TV, SD picture quality once setup at home is way better than I saw in any shop and HD on Virgin V+ and streamed from xBox 360 is simply stunning.

Got this connected to a Blu-Ray player in a shop, and connected to a Samsung 1080P LCD at the same time. The only way to see any extra detail on the LCD was to sit approx 1 foot away and really study the picture. After that there was no way I was going to pay extra for a 1080P set.

Xbox gaming is excellent too, no problems at all.

The overall picture quality I find way better than the LCD's I have int he house, a much more natural looking picture and no pixelation around moving objects like on the LCD's (even top end ones when comparing in shops)

When I set out to buy a new TV I assumed it would be an LCD, mighty glad I changed my mind.

Why not cancel and re-order? Or invoke your distance selling rights? Might be some hassle with the latter though...:?

Today JL priced matched sound and vision for TH42PZ8OB .£857 Ordering tommorow.
On their site the price is £829 today but it change's daily but with a five year warranty costing between £250-£350 and the fact that JL service dept is second to none i am more than happy.

It's worth mentioning the price drop when you call JL tomorrow to buy. Sound & Vision dropped there price by nearly £20 in a week when I ordered a couple of weeks ago and JL knocked another £15 off the pricematch

I thought Panny were giving away 5 year warranty's at the moment? Has that offer finished, or is it justr from certain retailers?
#20
Ok, looks like Dixons aren't signed up for this, but may be worth price matching at one that is though - think Sevenoaks hifi pricematch

Anyone buying this TV and any other plasma, please change the settings and run it in for a couple of hundred hours to avoid any chance of image retention (screen burn).
Look at AVForums.com for guidance. I found some excellent threads there and followed the advice after I bought my Pioneer. Have had it 2 years and no sign of any image retention.
The only problem that I have is that my Pioneer cost amost 4 times as much as the Panny does now :x

Voted HOT!

I have the older PX70 and picture quality is superb better than ANY LCD and probably better than anything under £1000.

Modern Plasmas are fine for gaming.

richer sounds have this for £650, they used to have the 5 yr guarantee.

Myself and my father in law got JL Liverpool to pricematch Sound and Vision (Bolton) and then got JL to deliver to Glasgow from their Scottish warehouse. Bought it when the price was £680 but got £30 back last week with their price promise thingy and have the 5year guarantee thrown in.

With the panasonic 5 yr guarantee you have to purchase it instore from probably an independent retailer so you probably won't get near this price unless you go to Sound and Vision instore.

It is a seriously impressive telly though and I challenge anyone to be disappointed in it if they buy it.

Is John Lewis a good place to buy then? good customer service, delivery etc etc.???

John Lewis, in my experience, have been excellent all round

I bought this TV about about a few weeks ago. I got JL in Nottingham to price match Sound and Vision in Bolton after getting the info from this site. They e-mailed me back after a few days later to say they would price match the £654 price i quoted. It arrived last Friday and the picture is brilliant. - far better than i expected it to be. If you are looking for a new TV this is a bargain especially if you can get it from JL.
#29
I'm still umming and ahhing over this as I don't reeeeeeally need it...but I want it!

Remember all you guys who bought it with a PM with soundandvision...you can still claim back any further pricedrop up to 30 days after purchase so keep checking http://www.soundandvisiononline.com/moreinfo/index.asp?product_id=15376 for any changes... ...this saved my mate a further £63 a week ago!

could try getting your local currys to pricematch dixons for the free 5 year warranty, did a search on google and apparently there is an option on currys tills to pricematch dixons but is up to store manager discretion, now would be a very good time to try, as they will be trying to meet their monthly target

Erm...not true. I used to have a panny plasma and now have a sony bravia lcd and the plasma wiped the floor with the lcd. I only changed due to space contraints and had to downgrade from a 42" to a 32", but plasmas all the way for SD/HD and gaming IMHO.

LCD's just aren't quite up to the task yet. Motion blurring is still a real issue. I would buy this panny over any equivalent priced LCD without a second thought.

Very true. LCD's just can't match Plasmas in a number of areas including deep Blacks, natural colours, motion handling, SD, in fact the only thing an LCD is more suitable for is if you intend using it as a computer screen for very long periods.

Honestly this Plasma a bargain.

Hi,

Got my pricematch letter from JL Bluewater yesterday, they've matched the 37" version of the same to £599.

Took my dad to pick up the 37px80 from John Lewis yesterday seemed a good buy at £549, then went to Home Bargains for the £2.99 HDMI cable!

Dont get me wrong, i seen this telly in currys ( was turned on/connected this time!) and i was very impressed ( although not with their £899 price tag) so much to like about this set, even inspected the back of it ( dont ask) and very satisfied with connections and layout- im fussy in case you havnt guessed

But screen retention still seems to be a worry even on newer plasma's like the New LG range ( avforums have a lot of posts about it) and as i will have an abox 360 and ps3 connected up and will have various cousins as well as myself and son playing it , this is a serious worry esp as this issue is excluded from any warranty, but this set has been steadily falling in price esp from dixons, i wouldnt be surprised to see it at £600 mark soon exc any discounts, only problem is..as ever you wait too long it will be out of stock permanently and you will have missed the boat and a bargain to boot.

If anyone is interested in a slightly larger screen, I got a samsung 50" plasma PS50Q97HDX from crampton and moore for £800 delivered with 3 year warranty.

Craftyrufus - I've been trying without much success so far to get JL to price match as they have a different policy in Scotland where the store has to be within an 8 mile radius so have tried further afield but whilst most so far would price match on the cost of the television, delivery becomes a problem as they only deliver "locally" to that particular store. Noticed that you managed to get JL Liverpool to deliver to Glasgow. Did you have a similar experience and were JL Liverpool a bit more co-operative?

Do you have a name at the Liverpool branch that you dealt with to help me out as I would like to get my hands on one of these televisions along with the 5 year John Lewis warranty but up until now, this is proving difficult.

Regards
