Brilliant TV and great price, voted hot

Great price for one of the best TV's around atm!

Some people need to accept (once & for all) that NOT all TV buyers want full HD!

Just like I dont need r a 8MP camera or 16GB storage on my mobile!

Accept that not everyone needs, wants cares for Blu-Ray or Sky HD or V+
#13
the quality on this tv is outstanding

pity its not full hd lol

not everyone gives a monkeys about full HD. I most certainly dont. My 40" Sammy ive had for about 12 months is only 720P but to my eye and everyone else whose seen it, it looks awesome with my 360 and HDWMV movies!
#17
Yeh, not full hd so will go with one that has every bell & whistle & read what the stickers say on the demo tellies that are set up brilliantly in places like comet etc with all settings at dynamic or max this n max that...
I have sky HD & an xbox 360 going through my PX80B & it is just awesome. We sit approx 8 -9 ft min away from the tv & the detail is simply stunning. A mate has a full 1080p 42" LCD & the picture on mine when we got the HD set had him thinking of ways to get his back to the store to swap it.
Great spot & brilliant price - I wish I was on commission for Panasonic as everyone who sees the picture on it starts considering a purchase...Heat & Rep added, nice one:thumbsup:

If it's as good or better than my PX70 42" then it's a bargain, they aren't 1080p but compare them side by side with similar priced products without know the resolution and chances are you'll still pick this over average quality 1080p displays. Resolution means sod all if the overall quality is bad.

If you don't have a money for a decent 1080p then you can't go wrong with these, I'm very happy with my PX70. Go compare screens in the flesh if you're unsure :)

Hot Deal!

Which only support 1080i/720p anyway ;-)

Which I shall be ordering...rep coming your way

lets put it this way to all who assumes full hd looks WAY better than hd ready:
put them side by side and play a hd video.
I assure you that they will look the same.
I believe 1080i/p only becomes relavant when we talk 50 inches.
#22
A superior specification doesn't always equate to superior performance.

At this price, there's no better 42'' TV if you just want a set for Freeview and SD DVD.

The PX80 with it's 768 vertical lines produces better freeview picture quality than most 1080 line TVs.

Most of us don't want, don't need and will not benefit by having a 1080 sets.

Remember Freeview [720] is High Definition!
#23
Yeh, noticed that, on normal sky the picture is actually worse than when the sets own built in freeview tuner & we live in a c**p reception area too.

Great TV I bought one for £639 with 5 year warranty a few months ago and I am more than happy with it. Looks amazing with the PS3 too!
banned#25
Ive got the 37" equivelant and I paid £549 approx 4 months ago and that was the best price I could find at the time. The picture is amazing and even if you were to stand a full HD or a HD ready next to each other you will not see any noticeable difference. Go for it!

Great TV but my screen went down after 21 months and out of its 1 yr warranty period! Apparantly, although not prone to it, I am not the only person to have a problem. Shame as it is a fabulous picture and a gorgeous set!
#27
last year I paid £1100 for a 37 inches version (but same spec)....so Is this a bargain? Oh yes.:-)

Really, I wasn't aware this screen had been out as long as that?
#29
Fantastic television, and a fantastic price. Shame about the lack of warranty.
Would John Lewis pricematch? (Not that I will be buying either way, as unfortunately I'm broke - just asking in theory and to help others... ;-) )
#30
Most of the morons on here would prefer a 42" 1080p Vistron. Thats their loss. Voted hot.

Stunning bargain really when you consider it launched at £799. I paid £730 for mine back in May which was a good price at the time.

Shortly afterwards due to a pricematching war between John Lewis, Sound & Vision and Richer Sounds they tumbled to around £600

If you still watch standard definition TV you will not find a better quality picture bar old CRT's and a £1500 Pioneer Kuro.

I'm thinking of getting the new Humax Freesat PVR after xmas, will this link up well with this tv?

Definitely, the picture would be superb from the HD channels, go for it!

Also PX80 is fanless. Many 1080p sets need extra cooling and fans can fill with dust and become noisy in time. I personally believe that a 5 year guarantee is essential though. Its just not worth the risk considering the panel itself is the most likely part to fail and is hugely expensive.

My bad read the spec wrong....I'll get me coat

I can recommend this TV. The picture looks far better than any LCD tv I have seen, 1080P or otherwise!
I brought mine at JL for the 5 year guarantee, cost a lot more than this at £639, but I would pay the same tommorrow :)

Good post, sir!

No problem, I was one of what the geeks like to call "the early adopters" & paid, wait for it...£750.00!! (without the 5 yr warranty when it first came out) & was just concerned that this panel may have reliability isssues but that seems now to not be the case...phew!!

Paid 630 for this only last month and its superb
