and.....1080p largely uncessary on a TV this size. It will happily accept a 1080p source and scale down to 720p

The image quality on this 720p Plasma wil put most 1080p LCD's to shame.

You are indeed correct. Learnt something today! I stand corrected

Still not a bad TV but not as good as the PX80 for just a few quid more. Lack of VGA input is a negative point on this model for a start

If I put my computer through a VGA input on the next model up does it just behave like a 1920x 1080 monitor?

I do not have 1920x1080 as an available option on my 8800gt video card at the moment but will it appear if I connect it to this TV via VGA? The highest resolution that I have offered at the moment is 1600x1200 which just happens to be what my monitor is capable of & I guess as my monitor is 4:3 it is not offering me any widescreen options..

No, you need a PZ80 (or higher) for full high definition. This is HD ready, with a resolution of 1024 x 720.
