Resolution 1920 x 1080. Contrast ratio 30000: 1. SD memory card slot. 3 HDMI sockets. 2 SCART sockets. 100Hz. Fastext. VIERA link for easy operation. PC input. EPG. 24P input. V-audio (bass boost). Wall mountable (bracket not supplied). Supplied with pedestal stand only. H 28.9, w 42.4, d 12.9ins.

Panasonic TH42PZ80B panasonic Vierra plasma 42" HD Ready Plasma TV (1920 x 1080) 30000:1 dynamic contrast ratio.

Every image is richly expressive from bright scenes, such as scorching desert landscapes, to dark cave scenes. Contrast is enhanced by the new Real Black Drive system (a pre-discharge control system) and a higher base luminance from improvements made during panel production process. The high contrast creates deep, robust blacks and reproduces scenes with a delicate balance of light and shadow.

You can enjoy beautiful cinematic reproduction of movie images. The images that are recorded onto movie film at 24 frames per second (fps) are reproduced at two times that speed by 24p Playback. This achieves film-like reproduction than with the 2:3 processing method.

5,120 Equivalent Steps of Gradation lends natural expression to images such as sunsets. VIERA´s large colour space covers 110% of the HDTV colour standard. This wide gamut has been achieved by an advanced panel structure and a newly developed filter, which produce richer, more vivid colouring.

In addition to brilliant picture quality, VIERA models offer the easy operation made possible by VIERA Link and the SD card slot. VIERA Link lets you operate other connected Panasonic AV components using only the VIERA TV´s remote control unit. The majority of the VIERA line-up is equipped with a slot for large-capacity SDHC cards. You can view a slideshow of your photos on VIERA´s big beautiful screen just by simply remove the SD memory card from your digital still camera, and slip it in to the slot.

You could always get EmpireDirect to price match them

I'm interested in ordering this but I am worried about using this code as I have read about Littlewoods taking the discounted amount from your card at a later date if they find that they haven't issued the discount code to you.
Ebuyer and Amazon also have some good deals on Panasonic 42" plasma's but I have never used either of them for something this big, can anybody offer any advice

Thanks in advance.

I've never had a problem with Ebuyer (bought about half of the components of my main PC from them), and Amazon is pretty decent at returns (that is Amazon itself). This is an excellent TV, but I think folks might be right to worry about the code for Littlewoods.

I wouldn't touch any of the Shop Direct Group with a barge pole... Bunch of crooks. No offence, but anyone that does so is a fool as there are countless stories of people be done over by them...

I'd pay the extra for the TH42PZ81B. Much better TV.

 Just to thank SilentSource for the heads up on this deal from Littlewoods -- further reduced by £47 by 8% Cashback thru topcashback.co.uk -- £622.58 delivered. Delivery in just 4 days. I had been monitoring the pricing of this particular Plasma for some months and this is the best deal that I have seen to date

As with previous correspondents, I too was somewhat cautious with Littlewoods & their Vouchers / Customer Service/ delivery etc. But pleasantly surprised -- delivery (£4.95) was quicker than anticipated, Voucher accepted and charged correctly, Customer Service prompt and efficient; you can track the progress of the Order easily online. Delivery company phoned in advance 2 days before delivery to confirm time slot. All fine -- and an excellent set too!

Pay by RBS Credit Card (RoyaltiesGold etc) and you get a 3 year Warranty too - in fact on any mainly electrical item.

So... great TV and thanks to Littlewoods and Silent Source !!

That is very cheap, how did you manage that? Price match? Display model?
BTW to those saying the pz81/ pz85 is a lot better- sorry but your kind of wrong.:whistling:
They have added processing modes which HD connoiseurs say are better turned off as they result in a less accurate colour representation. Other 'extras' are better sound (no use if you use a surround system LIKE YOU SHOULD with a £800+ TV), an inbuilt Freesat box (which does NOT record like a PVR so you WILL end up buying a seperate twin tuner with hard disk when they're out mark my words...), and slightly different appearance (ie trim etc)

So, IMO, even if you can afford to go for the pz81, dont. Either go for the 42Pz80, or use the extra cash to go up a size, or get some nice speakers, or amp. Or, if you really want to improve on the pz80's pq, go for the PZ800.

Anyway thats just my opinion, but based on a looot of sofa research. Always a good idea to demo these things but make sure you dont pay too much attention to the sales reps. BTW yes I do have the 42pz80 and its excellent.
