Haven't been studying this market too closely but with a 5 year warranty and for that size/make this looks like a brilliant deal.

Well discovered.

Definitely reduced to £799 although price online still shows £1270. Please phone your nearest JL store and ask to do price match with their branch in Trafford who are 100% selling this to a reduced price of £799.

jl norm do price match on request

i asked for a price match at my local jl and they said you have to fill in a request form saying where you saw it at a lower price then they pass it on to another dept to be checked

she said to me it can take between 3-10 working days

If any Selfridges are selling it for £799 the local JL should change their price instore as part of their price match policy.

Most JL's will keep their price the same as most peopel will not go through the hassle of finding a cheaper price and instigating a pricematch.

So to get at £799 all you need to do is get another JL to match the price that the Manchester JL is selling at, which should be quite quick I would have thought or phone a Selfridges to check price and availabilitya nd tehn get from JL.

Although I thought Selfridges also offer a free 5 year warranty on some TV's so if they do on this TV, no benefit from getting from JL unless you have a JL nearer than a Selfridges.

Cabinet available at £99 for this TV from RGB Direct.

You just need to ask to speak to the Undersales Team. State that Selfridges are selling at £799 and because of this Trafford JL is also selling at that price. May help push through a pricematch quicker as JL in Trafford Centre will already have checked price etc.

Just paid £799 on the phone to Watford branch who did a price match with their branch in Trafford.

Once again price has been reduced to match a price reduction by Selfridges last week.

Please push and request the undersales team to phone Trafford branch to price match.
They did it for me. Delivery date 14th January 2009.

Good luck!!

Please note that this deal has not EXPIRED!!!!!

Wow Thanks just got one for £799 from Trafford - Their price is already adjusted to £799 didn't have to go through the undersales. 5 yrs Warranty & free delivery on 14/1/09

RED HOT DEAL

Well done

Needs to be unexpired

60 sets left by the way; grab em quick.

I can confirm that this isn't expired. I e-mailed my local John Lewis about an hour ago and they have price matched Trafford. Not sure what to do now - I didn't think they would! Decisions, decisions - Keep waiting for a better deal and missing out.......

Just ordered one from trafford JL. THIS IS A STONKING DEAL. Forget the LCD deals about this is a top tv with a five year guarantee - worth £250 alone.

Fantastic first post - well done

This deal is very much alive. There are over 50 of these in the distribution centre at the price of £799. I just bought the LG 50PG7000 from Dixons for a tad below £870 with the discount codes that were available on Xmas day. To be honest I'm a bit disappointed with the pic quality of the LG and am swithering in putting it back. The deal on the Panasonic above is red hot !!:):)

An amazing offer, which I would gladly be jumping all over had I not purchased a 50" Panasonic Plasma last February from JL. It also came with the free 5 yr warranty. I paid £999 for it. The picture quality is amazing, especially when compared to other plasma/lcd tv's that my family have. Rest assured you're buying quality at an amazing price.

Great deal!!!

This isn't in-store only.

Just can't decide whether or not to go ahead. These are dropping in price like a stone & I can't help thinking there will be a better deal around the corner as I'm not desperate.

Can't understand why this isn't hotter. The thread with it priced at £999 is hotter than this. Presumably no-one can be bothered to get the price match
#20
well I ve just followed link and its £1270 - JL will price match if its in stock but this isnt a current deal as such - would be if it was up on thier site for the quoted price
#21
Well its true - I just contacted local JL store and they price matched at £799 and reserved one for me until Monday to give me time to think about it. Not quite sure why I think I want one as I already have a 43" Pioneer, although a couple of years old. Oh what to do!
#22
I have just sent them an email asking to price match so fingers crossed.

Of course it's a deal. It's a matter of a few minutes to e-mail or ring JL. Just because it involves a small amount of work doesn't make it any less valid than if it was on the website in black and white.

Many of the best deals on here aren't always apparent and need some digging out. If they didn't they would be long gone before being posted.

I may not decide to get it, but am still grateful to the OP for the taking the effort to post it.

My Dad rang our local JL store in Sheffield and they would not price match but he got the number for the JL at Trafford and they did with the free delivery and 5 year guarantee.

Totally agree, this is smoking. Can't understand why this isn't on fire yet. Ordered mine, being delivered next week. H+R

Would like to say thanks to the OP for the heads up on this:thumbsup:

Walked into JL in Welwyn, told them I wanted to buy it, but wanted a price match to Manchester Trafford Branch. When the guy asked the price, his mouth nearly hit the floor, lol.

Off he went to phone the trafford branch, came back 5 mins later, no problem sir, 471 quid discount.

Being delivered week on Thursday. Result:thumbsup:

Please can someone tell me the difference between the John Lewis 5 year warranty and the one direct from Panasonic?

I bought this TV last week from Selfridges to be delivered next week but if the warranties are similar I will cancel the Selfridge obne and reorder.
#29
Sensible to order online and then to get the pricematch? There seems to be enough evidence on here to suggest that a price match would be in order. If not cancel? ;-)
#30
hot deal ! but would have to buy a larger house to fit in a 46 incher

From comments on here the Panasonic one is much more comprehensive. Given the choice I'd take it over the JL one. That said, I'd rather have the JL warranty than nothing, like buying from Dixons, for example.

I bought my last Panasonic from JL, but haven't had any problems so can't comment on the service.

I can't see any advantage for you in cancelling the Selfridges one. Didn't that come with the cabinet as well, or have I imagined it? Couldn't find any link to it online when it was available.

I don't think you can do that with JL. You need the pricematch agreed beforehand and it's quite straightforward (if you get the right person!)

No it would be Very Silly to order online at £1270 unless you want to pay £1270 and give yourself lots of hassle! The Pricematch must be done instore and agreed by JL prior to the purchase!

as far as i was aware the Panasonic warranty was only offered to independent chains, where you got a leaflet which they stamped in person then you send this off to Panasonic to get the 5 year warranty.

was Selfridge's on the list ?

I bought my last Panasonic from JL, but haven't had any problems so can't comment on the service.

I bought a 37" Samsung from John Lewis about 18 months ago and it needed to have the panel replaced in November. One phone call to the store and they aranged for someone to come and collect it for repair. I was offered a loan TV of a 42" Samsung but I had to collect it. Took just over 2 weeks for the repair and I kept the loan TV for another couple of weeks. All in all great service, which is why I am going to buy this from JL.

Thanks to the OP for posting this.

Brilliant deal. Got one ordered from John Lewis Nottingham.

Looks like we're shifting plasmas round the house again!

H+R added, thanks OP. Smoking hot deal.

Ok - dense question here but what is the difference between the 2 tvs here - the 46 inch and the 42 inch? Is it just the size or is there a difference in quality? Thanks
