excellent find, we bought one on behalf of a mate a couple of weeks ago - same spec - i.e. no stand for £1030 delivered from Amazon - being as they are a reputable company

Any problems with Dixons, well u can always turn up at their stores!

An excellent tv:thumbsup:

Currys now and they'll probably tell you where to go. Sub-human scum.

Not full (1080p) HD, but still very good for the price, considering its 50" aswell !! And from a reputable company like Dixons. This range of Panasonics are very good picture quality-wise.

personally I'g get John Lewis to price match this at £999 with the stand :)

http://www.empiredirect.co.uk/content/products/details/index~modelcode~PAN-TH50PX70PED~dept~ctv~subdept~PLASMA~brand~panasonic.htm

Less than £100 more with 5 year warranty but this one comes with the table stand worth around £100 anyway

My neighbour bought a TV from Currys website, it broke after 3 days and he took it back to the store, only to be sent home again to wait for the engineers to come, which they did, a few days later, without any parts, and then different ones again a few days later, who had no knowledge of the first, and again no parts, and then finally a few days later they came with the parts and fixed it.

So beware, it may not be a simple swap in store job

Easy tiger, we're only doing what HO tell us to do.

EDIT: just thought about this a little more. Sub-human?! Because I choose to work for a profit-making electrical retail company?! Crikey, pack us on the trains, quick!

You chose to pay a lower price but part of that deal is that you lose stuff like bricks and mortar stores to come to when things go the wrong way, that's the trade off. Our systems in Currys only have limited access to purchases made through Dixons. Dixons' systems however have full access to your purchase details and processing any problems. I apologise profusely for this being the case, hopefully we can cleanse the country of fellow low-paid electrical retail staff like myself.

You can get 3% off with egg as well, taking it down to £850.

Bought the 37" version of this yesterday and I have to say I was amazed at the fantastic picture quality. My friend has a Toshiba 37" full 1080p which I was very tempted to purchase myself but after finally choosing the Panasonic I'm very pleased as it's picture quality is by far better quality. If I had the space & money I would no doubt have purchased this 50" version.

We bought the 42" model of this plasma TV and after 7 months it developed lots of vertical lines down the screen. Dixons sent an engineer round after 10 days who said it needed a new screen (surely just the whole TV then?). Another 11 days later they took it away fro repair and after 28 days it still hadn't been fixed so we had to badger Currys/Dixons for a replacement. Strangely enough no replacement could be located, locally or nationally and we eventually had to opt for a Sony Bravia LCD instead. Interestingly, the 50" model on show in our local store also had loads of vertical lines down the screen - a common fault? Is it just a coincidence that they are so hard to get hold of now?

Currys/Dixons were totally unhelpful and took no responsibility for making decisions or for explaining what was happening to fix our TV. In the end it was the actual shop staff who sorted it all out for us.

i have the 42" plasma and for 12months it was an excellent tv but at the mo its with Panasonic - Purple snake problems , according to the engineer who come out quite a lot of the early plasmas / lcds with the digital tuners in go wrong the new ones seem to be ok - not sure what my point is really the kids have just annoyed me and im bored - Anyway Panasonic C/S were great very helpful

I have 42" version. Its excellent. SD picture is suberb. PS3 is amazing!

Beginning to wish i'd got 50", but budget wouldn't stretch at the time.

This is a great price for a quality TV!

BUY IT NOW! :-D
