The Panasonic VIERA TXP37X10B 37 HD Ready Plasma TV incorporates a range of fantastic technologies to deliver superb quality images and advanced networking capabilities.

For viewing action movies and fast moving sports, the VIERA TXP37X10 features a trio of advanced technologies to enhance the experience. With 100HZ Double Scan, a 0.001 Response time and Panasonics Intelligent Frame Creation, picture reproduction of moving images are smooth and flicker free.

The picture produced from the VIERA TXP37X10B HD Ready Plasma displays colours as close to nature as possible and its Real Black Drive system raises the base illumination to reproduce the fine balance of light and dark with stunning results.

Excellent price for this TV, it's only been released in the last few weeks, and others are pricing at £599-£699.

Yes it's HD ready not full HD but at 37" you won't notice. Yes it's plasma, they're better!!!! :)

For an extra £40 or so you can get it from Digital Direct that also comes with a 3 year warranty (rather than the standard 1 year you get from Dixons).

Sound and Vision Manchester also have it with a 3yr warranty for £569 BUT this means you can get it from John Lewis with their 5yr warranty (and normally excellent customer service) for the same price!

If you don't know about John Lewis' undersales policy check out this website where people regulalry discuss 'price matching' at John Lewis. Basically, if it's on sale at any shop (not internet) in the UK they will sell it to you at the same price AND give you a free 5yr warranty. Some people think it's a bit of hassle but I found the MK branch of JL to be most helpful.

I think 100,000 hours. That's a long long time.

Correct:

"The plasma display panel used in the 2008 Viera Plasma Television range is rated for up to 100,000 hrs. (This measurement is based on the time taken for the brightness of the panel to reduce to half of its maximum level. The time taken to reach this level may vary depending on the image content and the environment where the television is used)."

...and that's last year's model....

An average 5 hours viewing per day equates to about 55 years!

I got the 42" version of this TV last week from John Lewis and it has an AMAZING standard definition picture! Don't know whether it's because of the low resolution or that it's a plasma (rather than LCD) or a combination of both but my Sky+ SD box looks great. There's no digital artefacts (like "smearing" or "blocking" for example) and even SD football looks good.

I had a 40" 1080p Samsung LCD TV before I returned it and for standard definition the difference is like night and day! For example on the LCD faces would appear as a pixelised mess whereas on here it's nice and smooth. In fact the picture as a whole just looks more natural. And the viewing angles are SO much better than the LCD. Even HD images looks just as good despite this being a 720p TV and only when you're sitting RIGHT UP to the screen can you see the pixel structure more easily than a 1080p TV - but no one would sit that close! Hell, even the sound is better than you'd expect.

1080p is mostly marketing hype. Unless you have a large enough screen / sit really close you're gonna struggle to notice a difference. And don't even get me started on the people who say plasmas are "out of date" technology...

Just in case anyone was buying on the basis of the post above that guarantee is for commercial displays only - not Consumer!!!

Therefore this model is not covered for 3 years with Panasonic

Sorry my mistake,
Although this does seem a bit harsh on us consumers!!
