Good price for a good TV don't think theres any 42" better for this money and you can get it same day :). Instore only nationwide, but NOT an 'opening offer!!!' :P

As many people didn't like my Comet LED deal last time so thought I'd even it up by posting a good plasma deal! :)

Make it an even better deal if you can get JL to pricematch to get the 5 year guarantee

50" available from RicherSounds for £599

Got one from John Lewis a few weeks ago. This has quite a reflective screen and no PC input, but otherwise it is the same as the X10, which is around £100 more expensive. (No idea how the above poster can get for £530 - it would be nice if they'd have said....)

If you've got the extra dosh, get the X10 - if not, get this. It's a great tv and a great price.

dixons £589 code 5 tv brings it down to £560 then up to £30 of amazon vouchers from site offer could be as low as £530

Hi Guys

We are looking for a new TV 42"-46" went in Curry's to browse and try to glean info, the inference was that Plasma uses more electric than LCD, but is better colours as LCD doesn't do black easily, and that there was now LED which was new and better and they felt it would be replacing Plasma soon.

Is this too simple a comparison, would any techie like to put it into simplicity for me.
Thanks DG

LED backlit LCD's still aren't perfect, the review I saw for those new Samsungs on AVForums tore into the auto-dimming

I bet they have like 1 x £30 voucher to give away and the rest will be £5 or under, thats normally how these things work.

TBH if I was buying this I'd take the 5 year cover for whatever it costs but only on the basis they discount a bit (can get £20-£30) off this way, making sure they take the discount off the telly, then cancel the cover within 30 or 45 (its something like that) days to get a full refund but keep the discount.

Its a little bit cheeky :whistling: but it works

Decent deal although not as hot as the one from John Lewis with free 5 year guarantee. All this talk about reflections is overhyped, i compared this television to all the other plasmas in the store and they all reflected light to a certain degree (i assume it was a plasma thing due to a glass front). Sure the others might reflect slightly less (debatable) but the difference for me was almost neglible and for 100 pounds cheaper then the x version better value for money. Infact in a bizarre way the reflection gives the television a brighter and sharper picture.

well yes?! Hence you're better off trying to get JL to price match this if you live near one, but a lot of their stores seem to be out of stock.

I got a JL pricematch a few weeks ago. They had none in store but were able to check the regional depot and offered me the choice of store pick-up or free delivery.

Give them a bell. Fantastic service.
