Panasonic TX-P42G10B 42-inch Widescreen Full HD 1080p Plasma TV with Freesat only £548.97 instore in Currys. Spotted in my local Currys (East Kilbride) today at this amazing price. I'm guessing this will be very limited clearance stock so with some luck you may find one. I have this very model and its an excellent bit of kit.

you dont happen to have the product/stock code do you?

heat added by the way, good deal

Heat from me. This is the same panel as the new Panasonic TX-P42S20B, which will cost you an extra £150ish (Although it does add FreeviewHD support).

I think its better, dont think the S20 is a Neo PDP, which the G10 is

I've got the larger 46" G10 and I love it! I originally got a samsung 50" plasma from a Bennetts deal on here but I was never really happy with it. So I sold that to my brother and lost a few inches but gained a much better tv. Picture and build quality are fantastic!

Freeview HD for £150 extra? Sky HD do a free box and installation at 9.75 a month, so It will be at least August 2011 before Freeview HD is worth it

The S20 is a NeoPDP panel, the S10 wasn't.

The S20 uses the same panel as the G10.

How does the non--HD channels look on it, e.g. BBC1, ", ITE, C4, C5, etc?

I have heard that non-hd TV channels do not look right on a full-1080p telly.

Thanks.

Great tv for the price , has anyone compared freeset HD to sky HD. on the same tv, Id like to know your thoughts ty

I think the S20 uses a G13 Panel which the G10 didn't have - but the S20 series does in effect take over/replace the G10.:-D

I think thats where the strength actually lies with this TV

SD looks pretty good, far better with my friend's £1000 LG LED backlit

My bad, I thought it had the G12 panel :) I just remember over at AVForums one of the Panasonic reps in a video said that the S20 uses the same panel as last year's G10.

The S20 is even better than I thought then!

To my eye Sky HD looks better than FreeSat HD
#19
So can you have connected to the TV your Sky box as well? Or does Freesat need the cables???
#20
Superb tv, and a cracking time to pick it up for a bargain. I picked mine up before the vat increase from m & s with the 5 yr g/tee, but for the money you cant argue. The freesat is fab for the hd footy (if in scotland, some might suggest using an english postal code to get the itv hd...not I though  ) and with the 3 hdmi ports its a flexible piece of kit. Stand is nice and substantial, and pivots for a bit of flexibility with regard to viewing angles. Add the game mode, which with its input lag of 5ms is ideal for any online console gamers, and this is a deal and a half. Mucho recommendo :) H & R for OP

got one for that price 2 months ago in Currys. Thought it was only me so lucky...

great find

This is going to be store specific and the one you have found is likely to be the only one.

However ....

I have the TX-P46G15 in my living room and it's an amazing TV but a G10 for for < £550 is a great deal, if you can find one.

S20 is at least as good, if not better. Depends which panel it has, after some of the above comments I'm not so sure now, but I remember reading a few things on AVForums about them being the same panel as the G10 with FreeviewHD and updated processing. But regardless, the concensus seems to be it has at least the same panel as the G10 or better, but at this price you can't go wrong with a G10.

What's the TOP screen?
Why do you need to give it time?

That's a lot of TV for the money! Good post. Heat added.

Think they meant "top" as in "best". As it's a plasma you need to run it in for 200 hours on reduced brightness/contrast before you get the best picture, also helps to reduce image retention.

This is the S10 though, which I think has an earlier model panel (still a good one though, as most Pannys are).

S10 is the same generation as the G10 but is nowhere near as good, it was the budget end of Panasonic's range whereas the G10 was mid-range and the V10's were the top end in the consumer line. These have since been superseded by the S20, G20, V20 and VT20 (3D).
#34
Anyone find one of these in stock?
#35
Cracking deal would go for this if I had the money.
