Hopefully a sign of things to come... I said (in hope) all year it'll be sub £500 by the end of January 2011 and it looks like I was right!!! (yay!).

Instore only on this occasion... (& a bit too far for me to travel)... but hopefully a sign of things to come!!...

Happy Xmas!!...

P.S. I wont post the spec (unless asked)... I am sure those who want but havent bought it already will know the spec off by heart by now!

Looks a great deal, but in store only.

Looks a great deal, but in store only.

Yes, it is a shame it is instore only as I live a long, long distance away!, but for anyone in the area it is an unbelievable deal considering there's a 5 year (Panasonic) warranty included!... Its £679.95 at John Lewis at the moment... so possibly worth a day out and a bit of extra mileage on the motor with all things considered?

Hopefully others will soon follow their lead and also break the £500 barrier!

How many can they afford to sell at that price? One?...
#6
If you have a John Lewis closer to you, then get them to pricematch Weymouth Hi-Fi.

John Lewis still do their "never knowingly undersold" price match, which matches the price of any high street store, and when matched will be honoured in any store in the UK.

Full color detail, no flicker, and no screen burn-in,pixels per square inch on an LCD display is typically higher, plasma TV will consume around a third more power than LCD.
Overall a cheaper LCD than a plasma, no brainer

#17

How'd you get it down to £345? Asda don't pay out on Quidco for electricals.
#22
I have a 46G15B (so slightly bigger but older) and it's a stunning TV set. To get the 42 for under £500 is an absolute steal. However, I got mine with the 5 year warranty thrown is and I'd always want that for piece of mind.
#24
i take it they're in weymouth only?
#25
great price but I'm aiming 55" for my next TV & -130watts so it'll be an LED backlit LCD TV for me :D

Hot, Hot, Hot : Can collect at this price - and I remember a great Thai restaurant in Weymouth just behind the east end of the promenade (if they're still there).

This is the response I got back from John Lewis to my price match enquiry:

Dear xxxx,

In order to apply a price reduction on a purchase, the criteria in our pricing policy must be met. I regret that after review, the request you have submitted does not match all or parts of this policy.

Weymouth Hifi only offer a 5 year warranty to customers who can purchase the television in store. We can only price match with competitors who offer the same services to both their online shoppers as well as customers who visit them.

Therefore, on this occasion I cannot match price. If you wish to view more information about Never Knowingly Undersold and our pricing policy you can do so on our website.

I am sorry that I have not been able to reduce the price on this occasion. If I can be of any further assistance please do not hesitate to contact me.

Yours sincerely,

xxx xxxx

Yea I got the same email too... what a rubbish excuse! lol

I'm going to try and make a fuss about it, but I doubt it will be fruitful!

Would this tv be better than the Sony Bravia 40EX403U LCD one?
