The Comet site is down for maintenance at the moment so I can't post a direct link. As this only includes standard manufacturer's warranty, it's not as good a deal as last week's £629 with warranty at JL, but the cheapest I've seen yet. Quidco 3% too.

Great TV with Freesat, wireless functions etc. I have 2 Panasonic Plasmas are they are the best. Fantastic value for money, buyers can't go wrong.
#6
But will Jonh Lewis price drop now? With 5yr warranty this would be super hot!
#7
And will JL price match and give the warranty?

I would think not.

From http://www.johnlewis.com/Help/Help.aspx?HelpId=9#pricing
If you see or buy a product online and find it cheaper with a high street competitor (whether or not they also sell online), as long as their service conditions are comparable, then we’ll match that price for you or refund the difference. Comparable service conditions include factors such as:

delivery charges and timescales
guarantees provided free or at a charge
fitting or installation services, including accreditation of fitters, scope of workmanship, materials used and timescales

Agreed...just checked their site too....but I'm regularly checking JL website this weekend!

OMG!

Prices are dropping.

COMET's were doing this for £629 from original price of £699 last weekend and I very nearly bought then!
Might it come down again next weekend??????
Dare I wait for christmas???? Want one for second lounge.....i'm being greedy i know.

I know for sure my local Panasonic dealer will match this and offer the 5yr waranty as he did with a 46" S20 i bought today for £599.

Worth haggling with Panny dealers by showing them these prices I say.

Really? Wow. Nicely done.
Who was the other retailer you went in to match against? Was it an in store price? I only ask as most dealers won't price match online only deals (like this one).
#13
£570 for this is awesome,if only it came with the 5 year warranty!
#14
I ordered it in the end. Used the code that expires at midnight tonight to get it for £570, and then £17.10 Quidco tracked, so £553 in total.

Price matched Amazon and Dixons.
In any case this is available for reserve&collect i think so shouldn't be an issue.
Did i mention he threw in a quality panasonic HDMI lead and decent wall bracket for £30 instead of £110. I think it was the luck of the draw i had with the actual store manager i had so he knew his limits.

Going again tomorrow to see if he can beat or match this deal inclusive of Quidco discount too.

Thanks.
I did ask, we made a local dealers website and host it so we know them a little. Gave him a call and he basically said there was no way he could touch this price.
I've bought it from Comet with Quidco (which tracked already). Woot!

Some has mentioned that Panasonic may sell warranties separately for around £90...I'll have to investigate.
#20
OP you need to put price down to £569 as that's the price with the code.
#21
£569.99 with voucher code 3005

Hi

I followed the link provided earlier by 'fishfinger' which takes you to Panasonic site, describing the terms of the 5 yr warranty deal. They state you must have a demonstration in store to qualify and provide a link http://www.panasonic.co.uk/vierawarranty to search for nearby participating stores. Comet is one of the stores that comes up when you search. Does anyone else feel you should be able to get a 5yr warranty at this price, by reserving at store?
#24
Hot.

I noticed there are B and BA models of this set with 6 months difference judging by manual uploads.

Anyone knows if anything crucial was fixed/any reason to avoid an earlier model?

TIA.

I was confused by that. When you click the link it takes you to the 3D demo and Free Avatar disc which Comet do indeed come up as a dealer.
If you go to the warranty page and do a search sadly it only brings back Panasonic main dealers. See here
Comet knew nothing about this and no claim forms either.

obscene price for this tv lol i own one its superb

Do you prefer bright over contrasted LED pictures or softer more natural Plasma images?
Generally people that watch a lot of movies tend to prefer the Plasma and this is regarded as being a very capable contender - especially at this price.

I would urge everyone to contact John Lewis to price match it, it doesn't matter about it not offering Warranty. That is how the last one got reduced to £629.95 on JL, some reported to JL that Comet were selling it for £629.99 and they reduced it on the same day, likewise when the Comet deal finished so did the JL one last week.
#30
If john Lewis don't price match because terms say same warranty then there warranty is not free. Should be reported to trading standards because they can't have it both ways.
#31
I don't think JL will price match as it is an online deal only.Still £699 in store.
#32
No it's not, i was in my local Comet today and this was on for the same £599.
#33
Was £699 in my local Comet yesterday. So tempted to order & collect instore, great price. Would be nice if could be price matched with 5 year guarantee though

Mine too!

The JL pricing policy doc here goes into more depth http://www.johnlewis.com/jl_assets/pdf/nku_2010_v2.pdf
As with many of these things, you may get a staff member having a good day and wants to spread some cheer.

"I bought one of these last Friday from John Lewis for £699 then found that Comet was doing it for £629.99. Phoned JL and they immediately refunded the difference and reduced their price to £629.95. Waiting for it to be delivered this Friday. "

http://www.avforums.com/forums/plasma-tvs/1350708-panasonic-tx-p42g20b-currys-price-match-policy.html

This is supposedly how they reduced the price in the first place. The last comet deal didn't have a 5 year warranty!

I may just bite the bullet and forget the 5 year warranty if it means getting the G20 for around 550 (after quidco), i really can't imagine such a good tv being THAT much cheaper. Hell its already half the release price!
#36
I bought this yesterday after debating for a little while recently - the extra 130 quid off was the decider! I reserved online on my way to the shop and then collected instore - the girl serving was quite surprised by how much I saved on the sticker price :D Absolutely loving it so far - got it hooked up for freesat and am enjoying the HD content - especially Bladerunner last night! Plugged in my old 500gb hdd and it recognised it straight away - all of the .avi movies on there were playable on the telly. You can also record to hdd too - although you'll need to re-format it through the tv. If anybody has any questions about it give me a shout and I'll do my best to answer.

I would buy it right now but am worried that either the price will drop further (lets face it though, it cant drop much further) and also cos it doesn't include a 5 year warranty, basically if the TV set explodes after one year, then you are screwed :-S..... I don't know how common problems are with Plasma to be honest, but that is what I'm worried about. Spending 90 quid on warranty from Panny is silly as that would make the price almost 650..

That's a good point that no-one is picking up on. I read a review in one of the TV mags and it says that the old version of NeoPDP did not work & that the new release does. Apparently picture quality is much better with the later version and it could be that these are not the latest. Looking for review now and will post.

I've just spoken with JL

To get a price match pre-purchase you must fill in this form

At the moment they are "inundated" with price matches and it will take a few days to get back. She also said the warranty must match.

You could of course but from JL and then risk a post purchase claim.

Personally I just picked mine up from Comet at this deal with QuidCo and am very chuffed at having found a bargain.

Not to check out the model number. :{

So tempting to go and buy it right now for £550ish but only thing is i have read a lot stories of power circuit boards etc going just by doing a google search with panasonic tvs in general. So i think its wise to wait for the price to fall £600 ish or below with the 5 year warranty. So i'm holding out. Should have bought it from JL when it was £630 with 5 years. Never mind.
