I bought this TV a few months back for £468.. i'ts a great TV..well worth the money.

no point in spending any more.. as you will probably be upgrading to 3D in 2-3 years anyway..

Can't rate this TV more highly - stonking value at this price.

Lol @ the idiots jumping on the 1080p bandwagon.

Definitely a brilliant price for a brilliant set. Have the 42PX80 (gen before this one) and its unbelievable. 360 games and blu-rays look 100% better on it than the 40" Samsung 1080p LCD i had before.

1080p matters when 1080p is being used, which is very rarely. SkyHD, Virgin Media, Xbox 360, PS3 are all 720p or 1080i.

1080p is only needed for blu-ray and for PC use. When do you ever watch a blu-ray each night? I'd prefer to have a brilliant 720p set where SD will look great,100% more than on a 1080p set, as well as HD content.

Absolutely no point in having 1080p unless you want a 50"+ screen or sit closer than 4ft to the screen.

Again if you even read my post, i did have a 1080p LCD (Samsung LE40M86BD) which was great when it was first out. However, as with all LCD's, it suffered from bad motion blur and smearing. I sold it, got the 42" PX80 plasma (model before this one) and its better ten fold. Both were ISF configured professionally as well. The Samsung LCD can't touch the PX80.

So don't even bother coming into a thread and automatically bashing it because its not super duper 1080p. Do some research and think before you post.

just because 1080p is not broadcast today doesnt mean it wont be tomorrow and as you said 1080p is better. Blu rays will be watched maybe not each night but when you do they will look better and you are sorted for when broadcasts do come 1080p. So 1080p is better full stop and can be had at the same price as this i think you better do some of that research you were talking about !!!!

Show me a TV that has the same or better picture quality and build quality at the same price as this.

1080p will NOT be broadcast over satellite. It just cant cope with the bandwidth. It will be many MANY MANY years before that happens. By which stupid 3D will be around or super HD will be ready.

whatever it doesnt really matter it is useless carrying on 1080p is better FACT !!!

also glad to know you know the technology we are going to have in the many many years to come !

ive just gotta say theres one thing that lets the pannys down for me and that is the disgusting bezel, its just such an unattractive set, i simply would not consider it on those terms, each to their own th ive heard nothing but great things about the picture ever since they came out

The onl yadvantage 1080p has over 720p is on BluRay, like for like the 720p will be the same or better on Sky HD, Normal TV, PS3 (there are no 1080p games). The only advantage to 1080p is on BluRay and PC use, then you will not notice the difference in detail on 720p and 1080p sets onabove 42inches, many cant tell even the difference at 50inches, I have a 720p 50incher and a 46incher 1080p and its hard to see the difference in picture quality

In short HOT DEAL

Except most are upscaled to 1080 lines and not 1080p native. If you can notice the difference between 1080p and 720p over 1080p output anyway you'll have to sit pretty close

it was just with people saying there are no 1080p games on ps3 i had to let people know there is and surely futurewise there will be a lot to come.

When I bought my Panasonic 720p I was fortunate enough to be in a small local shop.

They had 2 42inch Pansonic's rigged up side by side. One was 720p the other 1080p. To my eye Sky HD looked better on the 720p. Normal Sky looked better on 720p. Bluray looked better on 1080p. However, again to my eye, the differences looked larger when looking at the Sky/Sky HD content. The cost was barely a factor for me at the time. I went with the 720p because it just ticked the most boxes with regard to hours being watched in the real world. i do have plenty of Bluray content and I just don't sit there thinking if only I have the 1080p. Films like Kill Bill, Ratatouille, Wall-E, Bakara are so well produced that watching Bluray on 720p is just stunning. On the other hand some 1080p productions are just plain rubbish. I really do think that the audio is the area that most people miss the trick on AV. To my mind a quality audio setup enhances the experience to a far greater degree.
