    It is HD.

Awaits all the 'you can see the pixels from space' comments.

Some of the comments on here crack me up. The lack of basic knowledge on HD years after its release is shocking.....

There is a simple fact of life, plasma even at 720P still looks superb for films & better than most LCDs.....

What they lack in sharpness, they make up for in only blacks, and an overall cinematic look.

I've yet to see an LCD come anywhere near the Pioneer Kuro screens for films. No contest.

Fur £299 this is a great tv & the moron talking about its 'great for SD', needs to educate himself in the basics of HD. Yet another zombie waking in circles groaning 1080p. Yawn.

    Yes it really is though.
1366x768 is HD and that is what most 32/37" lcd screens had 5-10 years ago. 1024x768 is what this tv and older HD plasmas have because their pixels are rectangular.
I think the whole HD think is stupid anyway, but anything which is above 576 vertical pixels is HD.

Would rather pay an extra £100 and get a 50" Panasonic of similar spec PANASONICVIERA TXP50X50B if I was in the market for a new TV or plasma.

Either way - this is very cheap for a Panny of this size so hot.

With all the information overload on a lot of TVs nowadays I think it is only a matter of time until the DM reports of someones head exploding a la David Cronenberg's Scanners Scanners Trailer 1981

the tv is out of date before you buy it .

Yep, it's only a 2012 model so will be unusable come January...

Yep, I agree with your man there.... the HD picture is spot on.
I've had a Panny plasma 42PZ80 (Full HD panel) for about 5 years and find it really hard to tell the difference (if any!) when looking at a HD source.
John Lewis were good enough to price match.... so a lot of TV for the money people... in my humble opinion.
    Merry Christmas by the way.

Its actually very good news that there are so many Muppets out there that won't touch this TV (because it lacks 4 billions pixels)...........It will leave more stock available for those of us who appreciate a truly great viewing experience from any source you care to watch through it.

Have to say that as a technophope i just assumed the 1024x768 was a typo - how can such a big screen have so few pixels? Is that normal?

Well I think the latest review, 22 Dec kind of sums that up

"I just received my 42in set and I'm more than happy with it. Just found out it uses the same panel as my 2009 Pioneer (which cost over £2000 btw!) so the image quality is stunning."

With hindsight I should have gone for a Plasma. My dad has a 37" Panny LCD full HD - few years earlier than my Samsung and the pic is in a different league.

As far as I can see the "only" drawback with Plasma is power consumption - but as we watch so little it's negligble really.

    This is an absolute steal!!

    For a Panasonic?!!

Should definitely have more moderation on phantom Tesco and supermarket deals but this is a bargain in anyone with more than one brain cell!!

Panasonic are not consistently voted as the best TV brand for no reason....

That's why it's £300, if you want the newest model then spend £600.

This is a cracking tv for a good price. Much better than that tat from Asda that keeps getting ridiculously hot

TV viewing is better than my 1080p LG plasma. Freeview hd picture is so clear and sd is pretty good

If a deal was posted for a LCD TV with 1366 x 720 resolution than everyone would post that its out of date , poor resolution and has poor picture quality.

But because this is a Panasonic the loss of detail suddenly does not matter
So why did we bother going above 1024 x 768 resolution then ! ! On this panel even some of the detail of 720p material is lost.

Because Panasonic plasmas are the shizz.

An 8 year old top of the range Audi might not have a light in the boot like a brand new Kia, doesn't mean it's worse.

    massive FAIL

HD will always look good at 720P

u really wont notice hardly any difference, especially if sat 6' or more away

plus major bonus is u can watch lower res stuff of the net and it wont look dire

I managed to get one at John Lewis (Newbury) today and they price matched it against PC world so I got it for £288 (saving £40 off their £329 price) with their 5 year warranty. Totally chuffed with the deal and the TV is great.
  36. revolver31's avatar
Yep this is one of the very few good deals amazon are doing this year 95% of there sales items are easily beaten elsewhere they have just got to greedy this year imo esp with there tv's thay are all £50+ more than other big retailers oO if they dont change it fast people will run out of money before they do get around to it.

A good tv and good price here though i bet it wasn't a customer price match i've never had amazon price match anything i've asked for you give them every opportunity and say price match this and i will spend my money here and then they don't so you buy elsewhere

Anyways heat added for price and product thx op.
*Btw john lewis are providing the best deals by far imo and for sure they will be taking custom away from many retailers while making a mint in the process and it looks like thats where i'll be shopping this year.
