8/10 from AVFORUMS, if it matters!

Old unreliable technology, and power hungry, loads of plasma tvs for spares repairs for sale when you consider the amount that have been sold compared to other types of tvs

Yawn

The obligatory " I don't have a clue what I'm talking about " answer.

Every plasma TV thread now seems to bring out the experts.

The world is now full of sad Facebook addicted sheep who are uneducated and just well buy what their celebrity god has posted on Facebook.

So you end up with all these idiots just buying beets headphones, Samsung's over saturated LCD screens, the iphone 6 plus with massive bezels, the onesie... list goes on..

But this does leave quality technology at a disadvantage, as they demand genuine higher price but also sales numbers that is sustainable.

But due to the world being taken over my morons we all just have to do with just mediocre technology!

Did you see the Samsung washing machine getting over 2000c in here this week? why? since when has Samsung made quality Washers?

I've seen plenty of 720p 42 inch Panasonic's..
unless you have specific 1080p requirements. like a Xbox or PlayStation they are amazing for TV or movies..
I can't stand the picture from a modern led.. too harsh..
I would rather have a plasma over a LED anytime.

£249 seems a little harsh on the price , this tv has been between £200 and £250 now for months , surely there must be huge clearance price on its way .
Iike most of the above comments this will be tough to beat picture wise for a 42 tv.Despite its short falls in some areas.

everywhere else has already got rid of theirs. I think here and very are the last? I ordered my from argos christmas day when the price reduced from 350 after missing out on sainsburys. I thought about waiting longer for more of a drop but risk on missing out on getting one forever

I grabbed the tesco one which was 50 inch 25 quid cheaper free delivery and 5th guarantee. brilliant picture tbh!

I got this last year (Amazon) during the new year price drop. I'm glad I did too, it has a fantastic picture.

Hardly "unreliable". My Panny 42PX80 is still a cracking TV. Power hungry yes and lacking features by today's standards but both SD and HD look amazing on it. It'll be going in my son's room soon but I don't expect a 1080 LED to be any better in terms of HD or SD picture.

This TV has a fantastic image, will be far better than some of the other "cheap" offerings.
I paid £705 for mine on release albeit the 80B version, and it's still going strong, just looking for a larger screen now.

as for your Smart features, add a Now TV box, cracking little bits of kit, install plex and away you go :)

Great set but price has been better. However surely plasma's are running low in stock now so there is a risk to waiting if you want the fantastic SD performance, natural colour and fluid motion of plasma. Voting hot so its more likely to be seen by those looking for a plasma.

Assuming it actually gets to market en masse at affordable prices.

Agreed potentially, the current LG OLEDs don't have great processing so for instance with shots of stars in movies (Gravity?) the dimmer stars are shown as black, where they're clearly visible on other displays. Anyway, bit of a moot point since the current best price for an OLED is literally 10x this :P

If a container ship full of Panasonic GT60 screens was somehow discovered that would be plasma nirvana for many.

These Panasonic plasmas are prone to blowing their power card if you have a power cut etc when they are on standby.
Google the info if you want the full story.

True, for business reasons though, not technological.

Easily remedied, buy an anti surge socket or extension lead for less than £10.

This can happen to any electronic component, not just Panasonic plasmas or any other LED LCD TV for that matter.

Paid £350 nearly a year ago from John Lewis with 5yr guarantee, excellent picture for the money. Ideal with something like the NOW TV box, side load PLEX job done. Got a couple of Bravias including 2014 W8 and prefer this for a natural picture although lacking in other areas.

What a load of dross.

Samsung is the largest electronics company in the World - I'm sure if Beko can manage to screw a washing machine together, Samsung's effort will be pretty decent.

Oh, and please could you advise which celeb has recently announced they have bought a Samsung washer on Facebook, I missed it. Cheers :)

Like say, 'HD Ready' TV's in 2015?

How's the Motorola Xoom working out by the way?

Haha, sorry ;)

Hd ready? Ewww

Got this from JL too...price matched @ £280 with 5yr guarantee. Got 2 in the end! The internal speakers aren't the best if you crank up the volume.... But I use sennheiser headphones most of the time so not an issue. Picture is better than my 40" sony Bravia LCD 1080p although that is knocking on for 8 yrs old now! To be fair I didn't understand these idiots on Black Friday with their Blaupunkt TV's frenzy!!! Idiots!! If you use HUKD you'll find a quality bargain without squaring up to some illiterate ****!

Not sure what you are finding funny?
but anyway..

Samsung have countless celebrities as brand ambassadors, that's their business model. Not on innovation.

HD ready in 2015 is much better than most of the idiots who will have their oversaturate 4K Samsung panels connected up to SD channels.. ha ha on that.

Also for the Motorola Zoom from 2013?? it was a perfectly good tablet them for £180!

Please don't feel bad if you bought house full of Samsung tat, we all make mistakes.

I would bother Argos will just say it is a miss print when you go to pick it up

Paid £500 for my 37" Panny plasma 5 years ago and it is still the best tv i have ever owned. Got a 40" Sony Bravia which is good but not as good as the Panasonic picture wise.

I have been looking to buy another before they become obsolete and this will do nicely. Thanks.
#34
The only Samsung thing that I own is a Tab S 8.4" tablet - hope you can't find too much wrong with that?

My primary TV's are both LG, a 60" Smart LED in my lounge, and a 42" Smart LED in my bedroom (I've got a couple of cheapies around the house too, a little 22" Tesco thing in the kitchen for example).

I have an HP Windows PC, a 2013 Apple iMac 27", and a 2014 MacBook Pro Retina.

My phone is an HTC One M8, which I feel is the best in the business.

I have a Yamaha 'sound bar' with my 60" LG, which does a great job.

Hope I'm not seen as one of your sheep with all that, I feel that I buy good stuff, regardless of any brand image or outside influence. If I'm totally honest, my 27" iMac is a bit of an 'ornament' in my lounge, don't use it much but I'm fortunate enough to be able to afford such follies.
#35
p.s. both my LG's are 1080p, not 4k. At the moment, I see 4k in the same light as an unbranded '50 megapixel' camera...
#36
Voted hot - in terms of "bang for bucks" it is a good deal - but people who are saying any plasma is better than led-lcd clearly don't know what they are talking about. Plasmas are good and better in many respects than LCD, but not without flaws like poor resolution, contrast and brightness.

Plasma could have carried on but European regulations regarding energy efficiency killed the format, not the lack of technological advancement.

Will this be better pic quality than my old 32 " LCD panasonic for freesat TV (no aerial so use a Humax HD)
I currently have a panasonic 32" TX-32LXD70 which has a lovely picture so dont want anything worse
Thanks

Oled will become the best, right now though they have real issues, too much to expect at the current cost.

True.. I might take a look at 4k when there is some proper content for it.
