Whilst visiting my local Asda store to do some top up shopping and looking out for some Yellow Label deals, I came across the Panasonic TX26LMD70 with a £100 discount. That's incredible value as this TV gets a great review.

I found this at the Greenhithe store (2 or 3 boxes on the shelf), so not sure if it's a nationwide deal but worth checking at an Asda near you! Looking online, it is priced at £449.89.

voted hot! thanks.

Thanks! I hope someone manages to benefit from this posting and bag a bargain. I'm looking for a 32" set, the Panasonic TX32LXD70, otherwise I would have got this one myself. But at this price I'm very tempted!

However I did manage to pick up a 24p Egg Sarnie!

Just contacted 2 nearest Asda, 1 stocks the LXD69 at £349, cant find anything on this model. The other has the LXD70 @ £449. Does anyone know the difference?? HELP I WANT ONE!
#5
according to this its the same tv as a model LXD70? but has all black surround rather than black-silver of the LXD70, might be worth checking panasonic site as well to see the diff between LXD70/69 AND LMD70

This is the LXD70, cant see LXD69 on their site, the LXD70 has 100hz processing and highly rated

http://www.panasonic.co.uk/lcd-tv/tx-26lxd70/index.htm

couple of review from the same site one gives it 4 stars the other 5 stars! Sound seems to be the only slight let down, otherwise one of the best on the market -if the LXD69 IS what asda are selling its a SUPERB price

Thanks for the help Riker, couldnt find it on Panasonic site.

Just checked with [email protected] Chesterfield. If you see the LXD69 at Asda, it is not the same as the LXD70. It is the same spec as the LXD7, just an updated version.
#9
I second that too - LXD69 is NOT the same as LXD70. It's better than the LMD70 but not as good as the LXD70.

See this thread for similar discussion although it's for the 32" version but the same logic applies with regards the model numbering.

Is this a Plasma or LCD

Don't answer that - I just read the header - LCD

OP does state he saw LMD70 so its a case of checking at your local store ....
#12
My local asda has the 26lxd7 reduced to 349.99
#13
Obviously it would appear to be a bit of a lottery for which stores have these TVs and at what price but if you are able to get the TX26LMD70 or the TX26LXD69 at £349 then I would say this is a very hot deal.
Guess you have to balance how tight your budget is with how fussy about TVs you are though as the LXD70 is obviously the better set. My sister is happy with her LMD but I'm a little torn on the subject.
Best price online for anywhere with the TX26LMD70 instock seems to be around £415 delivered so £349 is a great price. Thanks to the op. Shame I'm 20 miles from the nearest Asda and I seem to get someone fairly clueless whenever I phone them!
#14
Just been down local. They seem to have the 70, 70A and 69 in stock but selling out fast. Any1 know of any major differences ?
#15
I work at Asda. I keep a close watch on the electronical products there, and this TV cost £449 just over a week ago. It dropped in price a few days ago, I was pretty amazed! Great deal with excellent picture quality!
#16
PS just price matched this with John Lewis for the free 5 year warranty ;-)

Makes sense !

Did you get one from John Lewis?
#18
my local asda only has the LD7 for £349 is this worth it?

I cant find any reviews for that model but unlike the LD70 it doesnt have the 100hz and only has 1x HDMI.

Reserved for pick tomorrow :-)

Also the superior LXD 100hz version will never be at £349... more like £549 to £649.
Yes its better... but on a 26inch would you really notice the difference when weighing up to over a £300 saving ?? TBH at this price its a bargain and id go for this one. The only other tv to come close to this at this price was the Sony s3000 in argos for £399... but theyve totally sold out instore.
#20
typical after eventually deciding to go for the LXD7 i rang up and they had sold out. They said to ring tomorrow to see if they get any on the delivery tonight.
#21
just went to our local asda to have a look. they had four in stock. not a pretty looking tv though. think we will stick with the sony.
#22
Look and aesthetics do come into it somewhat but ultimately it's the screen you'll be looking at so picture quality is more of a priority to me. At least it doesn't look like a Goodmans or Hannspree TV. Maybe the styling is too far ahead and you'll like it better in a couple of years time!

Must admit ive been looking at tvs for a while now for my kitchen. This model has one of the best pics out of any i have seen in the way of viewing angles and clarity of freeview, easily on par and for a while ultimately better than the Sonys. If looking at the tv from below the goodmans, onns, hannspree, etc all get washed out... this one stays perfect which is why ive finally settled for it. Id say that its only the LXD and the new Sony T3000 that are better. Couldnt afford it before but now i can. Highly recommended for the quality of picture, oh and if you can get one get the 70A coz its styled better and has a nice curve where the speaker is. The standard 70 is not as nice imo and is quite flat and chunky.

Hi there seems to be some confusion over which Panny Asda are selling for £349.00. Can any one confirm which it is ? Is it the TXLMD70 as in the very first post. Or is it the 100Hz one thats availbale at £349.00? 26LXD70 ? Squelds which one did John Lewis price match for you? Thanks:)
#25
This is the LMD NOT the LXD (100hz one).

May be wishful thinking peeps, but please check your model numbers. Even Asda wont be flogging a £600 LXD 100hz for £349. This is DEFINATELY only the LMD, which is still a great telly !!

PS Asda never ever sold the superior 26LXD70 in the first place.
#26
Lovely price. Must be taking quite a big loss on that one.

If you see the LXD70 @£449 in stock, go to John Lewis immediately and get them to price match it for the 5year guarantee. That'll get them peeved! ;-)

I've just telephoned every superstore within a 60 mile radius of where I live and none have any.... If anyone know of either models available at an ASDA store in the North West I'd be very grateful to hear. Thanks.
#32
Went to several Asda's today and all had sold out of the 26LMD70 but the one on display was a TX-26LXD7 and the also had none of these but I was told they may be due in this week. Does any one know the differences between these 2 LCD's. Is one a newer type? :)

Squelds,

How did you manage to get a price match so quickly?

Which John Lewis store did you use for the price match?

:-D
i picked a lxd69a today (£349) from asda in newton abbot, it was the last one of that model but they did have at least 5 others, all lmd70 for £349, i dont know what the difference is apart from the frame (casing) is slighty different, i actually prefer the lxd69a, it makes the tv look less of a square lump IMO. i hope all internals are same, anyone know?
#36
just checked,
and the lxd69a only has 1 hdmi input, apart from that i think the 2 are the same
#37
If you really did get the PANASONIC TX32LXD69A at £349 you got an amazing deal - it is a similar tv but 32" and normally about £550!!!

I have a lot to say on this

first asda are misdescribing the product in store as they have at my local store the PANASONIC TX26LMD70 - but they are displaying it on the ticket as the PANASONIC TX26LXD70

the X is a top of the range 100hz model, costing about £500 or more - which from going on the website they dont even stock

i was told wrong info today instore and got really annoyed - anyway they were out of stock and promised to reserve one when they got more in,

where do they stand legally? - can they be taken to trading standards?!

Might be worth a try to call up John Lewis and tell them you've seen the LXD70 for that price in Asda, and ask them to price-match (you'll obviously have to be quick, because these aren't going to last long whichever model they are).

If JL see the price and give you the match without noticing that it's actually the wrong model being sold then you'll then get the right model from them and have saved over £100.
#39
sorry if i caused any confusion, i got the tx 26lxd69a for 349, i think i got a good deal:thumbsup:
#40
good thinking Richyyy, that did cross my mind earlier but i forgot , i will call JL tomorrow and see if they will reserve it as i cant get there during work time!
