wot grates me is that just over 12 mths ago i got the older model of the pana 32" and paid £600...

I'd be tempted to look around for a 100Hz model (eg like the Panasonic TX32LXD85) as this genuinely does make a big difference for the standard and high definition motion programmes.

Generally speaking, the review sites like www.hdtvorg.co.uk are great for really knowing the comparisons on tv's, and there's a lot to be said for quality over quantity with flat screens. If you're not careful you'll upgrade a perfectly good CRT for a relatively expensive LCD/plasma and no matter how much you tell yourself it's an 'upgrade', you'll be getting headaches from swirling patterns of pixels and ghosted edges!

£342 @ Argos, don't know if that has been posted or if anycash backs apply

Hopefully you got the rotating plinth stand then, all the new ones seem to have a fixed stand which is a real step back.

Exactly the model i am waiting to come down a bit more... Don't think you can beat the Pannys for SD picture for the money.

Cheapest i ahve seen the Panasonic TX32LXD85 is Amazon, will wait it out and resist the temptation for now:whistling:

you gotta be kidding, right?! you can't rotate new panasonics now?
#15
Only buy from Bennetts if you want hassle with their appalling customer service.

Yeah, I have the same problem - Amazon price for the TX32LXD85 you mention above is 434, which at 110 quid more than the LXD80 seems to me not worth it to basically get 100hz version... or are there other spec variations? Maybe I need to see them running next to each other...
#17
Decided to order one of these today as it has come back in stock. Was tempted by the LXD85 but really couldn't warrant the extra £90. Little disappointed that it doesn't have a swivel stand though, seems to be the only one in the current range which doesn't.

Hi all i have purchased the panasonic 32 tx32lxd8 yesterday from argos for £342 pounds. I won't be using it until i get my garage converted.
Just want to check with you guys that it is the same as the tv listed on here as mine has just the 8 on the end and not 80?
Is this a euro spec tv i have brought and should i be worried?

From what i have read it is the same panel with fewer connections on the back, lower quality sound (apparently) and a Matte finish to the frame instead of glossy. same quality picture though :)

i wouldn't be too worried, however i would take it out of the box, set it up and see if you like it, if you don't like it and its not good enough for you take it back :) best do it sooner than later IMHO.

hope this helps :)

It's matte!? Might have swayed me to get the lxd8 if I had known this before order of lxd80, I'm not a big fan of the glossy black brigade.

Me the same. Just rang them and they said it was being delivered a week tomorrow.
#24
A few people over on avforums have had their set delivered today. A few have also rang them up and they said that they are getting in 125 units this week direct from Panasonic and that most people should recieve the set by Friday.

Guess only time will tell though.

#30
Just to let you know I recieved mine today (ordered on saturday), was lucky though because I was at the dentist on original delivery but the van came back :).

Not managed to set it up yet as the room where it is going to be is being decorated.
#31
Mine arrived too, but the bennetts page still says awaiting despatch, so yours may be on its way to you if you havent got it already!

it looks great aswell!

I have this TV and I am more than happy with it. However, I cannot say the same for Bennettsonline. They must have the worst customer service department in the country....if you phone them they keep you waiting for ages in a queue before cutting you off, they take days to answer emails(if they answer at all.) your money will come out of your account but you will have no chance of getting any information about your purchase until it arrives days after the published time (automated email) says it will.
I judge a company on how well they treat their customers, they might well be cheap but I personally wouldn't trust them again.

Jim
