[Edited in a few places below] I have edited the price up to £638 as the £50 off £500 code has now expired but they have replaced it with a £30 off code (TAKE30) and the starting price has reduced to £668

This is the current Panasonic 40" 4K HDR (high dynamic range) TV plus 4K Bluray player. The TV on it's own is £570 in most places and the Bluray £300 odd. The TV qualifies for the Panasonic 5yr guarantee promotion (claimed by link)

5yr guarantee link

Also 3% cashback with TCB who allow use of the voucher code.

John Lewis do the same package for £698 delivered (They will not price match and have sent me a series of inaccurate excuses until I got bored with arguing with them - they are knowingly undersold here regardless of their motto)

Richer Sounds do the package for £668 - I also asked them to price match but ended up accepting £10 off as it was much more convenient than driving to Rochester for Hughes. They cited their 6 year guarantee as the reason the Hughes deal was not comparable. I pointed out that a 6 year guarantee seems to be a way to get them out of any price match because who else does 6 years? In reality, the Richer Sounds guarantee is just an extension to the Panasonic one that you get anyway to make up the 6th year. The claim form states this.

There is a new 40" TV due out from Panasonic (TX40EX700) which will replace this one but it looks like it will be over £700 at launch.

I'm after a 40" 4K TV (tiny front room before the 'too small for 4K' lectures begin) to compliment the Sky Q 2TB box I've ordered so I've been shopping about and narrowed it down to between this and the Samsung UE40KU6400. But the Panasonic Bluray looks better than the Samsung equivalent in their package offering.

The downside is they aren't delivering this package from Hughes - no idea why. And it seems that Hughes stores are only open Mon-Fri until 17.30 which seems very bizarre. So there it is.

AND (wait for it) you get a free copy of Ghostbusters 2016 4K Bluray with the player! You lucky purchasers.

Depending on your location there is a few larger Hughes stores which do open for longer hours. It's the high street ones that open for 'standard' trading hours.

The one I'm nearest to is Rochester trading estate and it doesn't open at the weekend at all?

I'm one step ahead and already checked. Crawley and Eastbourne stores are no longer open. Nearest one is Colchester and that is almost in Belgium from where I am. Going with Richer Sounds. Still arguing with JL!

TX40EX700 is £799 ...a bit steep

Bluray player is £399 on it's own and TV is around £650 elsewhere. Hot!

I have these now and they're very good. But they need good HDMI leads too. My old ones weren't up to the job.
