PANASONIC TXP37X10B PLASMA TV £439.00 @ John Lewis

Just bought one of these from the Cambridge John Lewis. An excellent price considering the included 5 year waranty & free delivery.

Their online price is £499, so it might be a mistake, but they had in-store signage with the price & their till rang up £439 from the product code. I'm not sure if this price is only for Cambridge or across all their stores.

Plasma is less intense than LCD.. I have a 42 inch panasonic plasma which is awesome.

Always worth checking John Lewis shops against their online
prices. They are often cheaper.

good advice, will pop over during the week. Am after a panny G10 LCD in 37 or 40

I have just bought one of these from Richer Sounds in York for £439 (searched high and low and RS was the cheapest). A stock search showed that aside from the one in York, there were only 4 others left in the country - all at the Cambridge branch, so I would suggest that someone has got the Cambridge JL to price match.

I did start the price match process in York, but lost patience after several days and didn't want to miss out on purchasing the only one for 100's of miles. If you are in the Cambridge area I would snap this up - great TV and with the 5 year warranty you can't go wrong!

Can anyone tell me what the difference between the panasonic X10 range and the G10 range is. Which one would be better to buy. x
#10
G10 is better & more expensive than X10 - but there isn't a 37" G10.

The 37 G10 is LCD, 42" G10 is Plasma and £669 from M&S with 5 year warranty.

Panasonic also sell 37" LCD - at JLP - see their website.

I also prefer plasma and have a 42" Panasonic which IMO has a better picture than any LCD TV, and at £653 from M&S with a 5 year guarantee TX-P42G10 its a bargain too

G10 has better panel, freesat, anti reflective screen and a few other minor differences.

Because, at the time, i only had SD stuff, plasma is much better for SD

Other JL solihull selling at £499, but cambridge is on for £439.
Confirmed and ones on order.
Cheers OP.

Not true......... the new range is LCD upto 37 inch, so this is one of the last 37 plasmas they'll make.

There is a 37 G10 its an LCD tv.

The stuff on here is sometimes so inaccurate !! I know the 37 G10 exists my dad has one in his lounge ! Decent TV it has good reviews, but if you can go for the 42 G10 thats the Plasma panel and is an award winning set.

your right, but after reading this deal, went into JL this morning but couldn't remember the store name to quote to price match, the SA told me to get the store name phone them direct, order one and it'll get sent out from the same distribution point.

so thats what i did.

So you think a 37 G10 is LCD and 42 G10 is plasma? 37/42 is just the size, G10 is LCD, X10 is plasma

No, you're wrong.

You may like to check your facts.

37 G10 = LCD
42 G10 = Plasma

37 X10 = Plasma
42 X10 = Plasma

As the poster above notes, there are both Plasma and LCD G10s. There isn't a 37" Plasma G10, only LCD. The LCD range is TX-L, the Plasma range is TX-P e.g.

37" Plasma = TX-P37X10B
37" LCD = TX-L37G10B (another 37" LCD is TX-L37S10B)
42" Plasma = TX-P42G10B
42" Plasma = TX-P42X10B
42" LCD = TX-L42S10B
Up to 37" the G10 is LCD (e.g. 32" and 37") and the X10 isn't always Plasma either (as there are 19" and 26" models for example). Basically it doesn't depend on the 'g10' or 'x10', the full model name indicates the panel type e.g. whether a 'P' (plasma) or 'L' (LCD) appears before the screen size indicator (37, 42 etc.).

Generally you don't get plasmas at 37" and under - I think they can't make the plasma panels small enough but that's not a problem with LCD panels.

Just managed same with JL Southampton. Was originally matching with local Richer Soundsbut they only had one left in stock and JL were taking their time. This Cambridge info certainly speeded it up so thanks for the info also.

Deal for price match with 40" Samsung at Jown Lewis didn't work out so I asked about this - wanted a Panny and a 37" anyway and many pros to this over a larger LCD for my own use, so this is ideal especially at this price point with the 5 year guarantee. Got one on order from JL Solihull, so fingers crossed (again!) Thanks OP, have some heat.

Hi Kipper,

Did the CS Rep give you any idea when to expect the Panny? I've ordered one via JL Solihill on price match, hope my "reservation" won't expire after 5 days like the last one did(! - separate set).

When I ordered this afternoon with Southampton they said the earliest delivery date was Sat 23rd so I've taken that (though I guess delivery is down to the inidvidual stores so stocks may well be in earlier than that), I'm also not in Southampton so they may split delivery days by area down here

Thanks Woby :) - plenty of time to prepare the spare room/entertainment room for its impending arrival. Can't wait!

Tried JL Reading yesterday with no luck but they informed me they had stock in High Wycombe and Southampton. Phoned Southampton and confirmed stock, got them to price match their Cambridge store price and went and picked one up from the West Quay Customer Pickup Point yesterday at 3 o'clock!
Thanks and rep to OP

Ooh! Good for you. No contact from JL as yet for me, hopefully today then.

EDIT: Rang 'em up to check, no luck for me - looks like they're coming in but they've obviously got quite a few allocated, so I guess it'll be by order date etc.

good point - and a fairly major omission - I must try harder !!

I got my 37Px10 from JL Cambridge end of November and they do seem to be the one JL that has them in stock, I got one when they were out every where else.
I got them to price match RS after I got it, went from £499 to £439......so maybe I started this deal!
:-D

By the way - good TV.
#38
Well JL left a message yesterday saying they'd had to cancel the order for my TV as they couldn't fulfil it. So disappointed as the same thing had happened with the 40" Samsung B350xxx and the Panny was the one I really wanted.

I think I'll give up on JL, I just can't be bothered chasing these things anymore (ringing up, waiting to hear, feeling like I've got in there fairly early only to lose out). Doubt this Panny will come up with an extended warranty or guarantee close to this price, but I might try holding out for it to come on offer from soneone else rather than settling on a different TV - would prefer not to have an LCD, this TV is a perfect all-rounder for my needs (37", SD TV, occasional Blu-Ray, gaming).

At least some people have benefited.

:?If I were you i'd give Cambridge a ring - your order from them, it's despatched from central warehouse in milton kenyes sent to solihull and despatched out to customer. (thats the route mine took).
