Looking for a new telly for a friend and came across this deal, John Lewis were previously offering the G10 for £799. The guy in the shop said that they had sold their entire stock of G10's and that Panasonic wouldn't be supplying them with any more so now they're pushing out the G15's at the same price. It's definitely the best price I've seen for this set with a 5 year guarantee and they apparently have over a 1000 in stock in their central warehouse.

I know when it comes to plasma's and lcd's there's a lot to consider, so if it helps 'What Video & Hi Def TV' gave it 5 out of 5*

And here's the spec sheet: (it's quite long, I copied it from play.com who are selling the set for £879 without the guarantee)

Thanks, I'd actually prefer the G10 for that price. Had a quick look on M&S web, couldn't see it. Could you give us a link?

Thanks Chekley, I'll give it a go. I think its a better deal to be honest, the DNLA isn't really needed, especially not for £130 more.

I'm reading that thread now and I feel a bit gutted that I might have missed out on something. Did you get one of the free blu ray players as well?
#14
If buying from JL you MAY want to buy from a store (by phone) as that way you'd get the never knowingly undersold cover that DOESNT apply on the website. Think it runs for 28 days from purchase but memory may be mistaken.

If buying ONLINE then JL havent had any £backs for ages but this week they appear on the iPoints website with a meagre £back but owts better than nowt :)

Panny 5 Year Warranty ended on 31st December 2009. Unless you paid for the TV on or before this date and submit your Warranty Registration by 31st Jan 2010, you will not benefit from the extended warranty.

You didn't had to collect, simply had visited the store to see the TV in action; you still could get it delivered. But most dealers didn't force you to come to the shop, so long as you called them and spoke to them, they would co-operate on the warranty ;-). Anyway the debate is superfluous as Panny's 5 year warranty offer ended on 31/12/2009.

P.S. To OP Brilliant price by the way. JL seems to be doing some fantastic prices on the Pannys at the moment; wish they would have done that for my TV of choice the 50 inch V10. I am sure JL knows something Pannys new range being announced tomorrow at Las Vegas CES, so might be shifting stock in order to make space for the new range in March etc.

I'm sorely tempted by the 42-g15 especially as the 42-g10 hasn't come back into stock

I reckon @tpol is right, panasonic are going to be announcing some interesting new products soon... ah yes, they're going to add a camera and offer Skype:
