Watching one now, bought one today... TV flickers... an apparent Panasonic phenomenon...witnessed by some(not all).. mines going back. sadly Good Deal and TV if you dont experience the flicker?

No probs.. but you shouldnt dismiss the TV on the basis of my eyes. Its a good Tv for sure, its just that some people(me and others) are more suscpetible to flicker than others....but as understood we are in the minority.. its something to do with refresh rate and the technology that drives plasma... but im no expert... google it, just hope comet dont rebuff my claim.. does anyone know if I have a "Right" to return this on the basis of my apparent sensitive eyes

Hi appparently this is the same as the txp42s20 and is produced for comet. the S20 telly gets rave reviews and the main difference ( i think) is one has a square base/stand and the other a round one.

this is a good price for this tv but it was slightly cheaper a few weeks ago due to a comet glitch - you might be able to find it somewhere on here!!

the txp42s20 is £699 at iohn lewis with 5 year guarantee and £599 at richer sounds £660 with a 5 year guarantee. Given that comets 5 year guarantee is over £ 200 these may be a better option if you want some peace of mind.

hope this helps phil.

G10 is about the same price. Any S20 v G10 experts here?

It could be the quality of the signal or interference or even a bad set thats escaped quality control.

The S20/21 has slight improvements over last years G10. The S20/21 shares most of the same internals and processing, but has an updated G13 panel (same as this years G20). The S20/21 has a Freeview HD,tuner versus standard freeview and freesat on the G10. Picture quality will be virtually identical.

Comparing both the S20 and G20 at Richer Sounds today there appeared absolutely no difference in picture quality. Avatar was looped on both sets and they looked equally STUNNING.

Agreed could be.. but was watching HD via Sky, not the be all and end all of sources I recognise but a good source? Funnily enough the flicker seemed worse on SKY HD than on normal SD Sky...? TVs gone back to Comet, good lady volunteered whilst I watch the footy on my LCD 32" Samsung LCD... no flicker:thumbsup:

TV returned. Fair play to Comet. The manager and a store assitant could also see it flicker... maybe its not my ninja eyes and is a faulty set? Put me off though....search continues.. wonder if I can find one that makes England play well?

Collected mine today and have spent the past few hours setting it up and watching Cameroon vs Denmark on Freview HD. I cannot believe how good the picture is. Absolutely no flickering on mine whatsoever.

Tomorrow I will put the Blu-Ray player on Ebay (should fetch ~£100) and give my mum the photo frame:). I am well chuffed.

Good news Orville, I went into Comet again today and the one in the store didnt flicker either, guess I just got unlucky, thing is its shook my confidence in the Panasonic Plasma brand and so good as it looks think I wont be able to summon the courage to buy another
