why are people voted cold? if they can find it cheaper they should post up links. also looks like you get a 2gb sd card with it. hot from me, cheapest i've ever seen it. and dont forget topcashback.

EDIT: no free sd card... my bad.

I don't know why people vote cold either, this is the best price I have seen, it's a very good camera, and can record movies in HD as well, I want one!:p

Just watch the pricing - panasonic seem to be playing around with the prices for this camera (I see Canon were doing something similar as well with some of their compact cameras) - around one 1 month ago the standard price was £220 - £230 (I was looking to buy a a compact camrea and so was keeping a close eye on prices) then the prices go up to almost £300 ; now they seem to dropping back to near where they were.....

the specs on this camera are brilliant (I want one!)...........but after a quick google product search, £249 is not really that hot a deal, imo

What's the difference between this and the TZ6 which seems to be much cheaper?

The tz6 doesn't have 720p HD video, apart from that they are identical I think
#11
Mostly the TZ6 doesn't do the Hi Def movie mode.

As has been said the TZ6 doesn't do the HD video - it also has a slightly lower spec rear display - some reviews complain about the zoom speed and poor AF in video mode on the TZ7(I can't say as I've not tested either camera).
If you don't need the HD movie mode and can pick one up considerably cheaper then it's probably worth going for a TZ6 - but you might always regret it wondering what you missed out on....

Price wise it hasn't moved. And never been to £220-230 anywhere (reputable). Alot of online places been about £270-280

TZ6 on the other hand the prices u quoted are in the ball park
#14
Dixons- shame will wait till a reputable retailer have it at this price.

Thanks.
#15
Seems like a really good price to me.
Comprehensive review here (it's called the ZS3 in the US)

Think you may have been confusing with TZ6 (looks the same). This is a really hot deal - cheapest I've seen and beats my deal of a few days ago by lots! Still £299 at Jessops.

Check Panasonic site for detail comparion, but this has a larger screen and I think the HD video facility is only on this one. Both really great cameras (as were TZ4 and TZ5 predecessors).
#20
i am tempted with one of these but just a little bit more than I want to spend on a compact :(

They're 'reputable'in the sense that you won't get scammed, just that as part of DSG they're probably fairly useless at customer service. Does that really matter if you get a great camera at what seems to be the cheapest price out there?
#22
The TZ6 has a smaller screen. The person who said they saw the TZ7 for £220 must have been looking at the TZ6 because it's never been £220. I've been looking at it for ages.
#23
This post needs more heat. It's the best price out there for one of the best compact cameras made!

I got this 3 weeks ago £280 it doesnt have a memory card so internal memory if really really bad. Its a good camera but to my mind not worth the extra £160 that u can get compact cameras for ie £120. But this is a great price so marked hot.
#30
Price has gone up now and no stock :-(

This is a very good camera, you do not get features that this camera has to offer for the price it is being sold for. Canon's G10 is going for 350+ and it can't do 12x zoom, can't do HD movie recording etc. This is a camera worth its money, I happily paid 280 a month ago for it and I am proud to report that it did not disappoint me. Hot if you can get it :)
#32
Why is this not expired yet?. Its £271 and out of stock
#33
Can't fault this camera. Too bad most of you would have missed the TZ5 offer from Argos a few months back. Similar features, inc HD video, but slightly lower MP count, and "only" 10xzoom. BUt that was under £150 and most peeps wont use the full zoom or MP anyway. I know I stick to 3 MPs only.

HD videos are brill, especially as you can put it on your xbox, pch, ps3, wdtv and watch on your HDTV. AF is an issue if you constantly zoom but at least you have the zoom option for videos which many digicams dont.

Also, you will need a large SD card if you want to take videos. We filled up 4gb card in 1 day when on hols. Get the 16gb PNY Nat Geog card from play.com for £18. Class 4 but more than fast enough.

.....and most peeps wont use the full zoom or MP anyway....,

I'm not sure that's true. I've got a TZ1 and find myself using the full zoom all the time, and I'd have though most people would too. The trouble is, once having had such a big zoom, it would be very difficult to go back to anything less!
#35
I was going to buy a Lumix and was just waiting for the right price as the models I wanted were £300+

Now Saumsung released their excellent WB500 and it's nearly £200 so I'm going for that. Make sure you have a look at it before you buy anything else.

Is it just me or does zooming actually make the pictures really grainy? Its the same for the last few cameras I have had, hence I avoid zooming whenever possible.
#37
Was reading that the video has a 15 minute recording limit on it, is that true? And is that only for the european market? thanks....

Optical zooming shouldn't. Digital zooming will though, so is best avoided.

Yes 15min Max length for 1 recording. Obviously you can just press record again to continue another until you fill your memory card.

I've read that the battery life of this camera is shockingly bad. Only around 50-100 shots per charge.
