Don't forget you could get 5% with the RAC [I have 5% off with my V-Card so it makes it all the more easier] That brings it down to £807.49 plus you can get 0.5% quidco... which by my calculations knocks another £4.04 off (if it is off the amount inc. VAT)

Tempted, just a shame it's out of my price range...

REMEBER THIS IS THE PZ70 and not the PZ80
PZ70 only has 2 x HDMI 1.2 sockets
PZ80 has 3 x 1.3a (plus better specs... contrast etc)

EDIT: the PZ70 is an old model so it just seems Play are trying to clear their inventory, still a 1080P 50 inch plasma deal this cheap can't be sniffed at

blimey. where have they managed to dig these up from. they're well old
#5
Aye, good price for the older model [I paid nearly twice that for mine when they first came out!]

Excellent TV and well worth the money, though I think now that the prices are dropping on the later PZ80 model, it too would be worth the extra £150 odd if you can afford it. e.g. http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0015LV962/300002028-21/?m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE or just £50 more if a refurbished one is your bag http://www.bargainstock.co.uk/Product.asp?pid=1124 [collection only]

BTW the extra HDMI socket on the later model is front mounted if that matters to some [like me]

H&R added

Getting close to the ideal TV now. It's big enough that you can sit a reasonable distance away and still see the benefits of 1080p (7 feet for 20/20 eyesight, 9 feet for 20/13), fantastic contrast (and real, not dynamic), 24hz mode for judder-free bluray, and under a grand. Yes, you can get better, but you have to pay a lot more for minimal improvements.

Is this TV any good?
#8
Yes, it's fantastic - beats most newer tellies (excepting of course Pioneers and the newer model of Panasonic).
Would love to get this, if I had the cash spare.

might be last years model but its a cracking set, bloody bargain for a 50". cant recommend the panasonics enough

dont forget 5% "RAC discount" ;)
#10
I wont be voting as you can get the 50pz80 for about a grand and I think its probably a better tv for the money.

Plus with the new models that have just come out I would expect the price to drop even more.

But decent price if you want a older model.

i have one of these TVs paid about £1300 for it just over 12 months ago!

Im still amazed by the picture quality, knocks the socks off most sets!

This is a v good deal!

But if you can get the newer version for about a grand the extra HDMI input would be useful, 2 defo isn't enough!

I have the PX model (720p) which I paid over £1K for 2 years ago
I am still extremely pleased with it and I thoroughly recommend Panasonic technology.
I also rate plasma way above LCD for anything over 40" - far more more natural picture.

The OP's deal of this full HD model for £850 is a fantastic deal
2x HDMI sockets is enough for most (satellite/DVD, and the X-box can be fed into the component input at HD so no real problems there).
YEs - this model has bee superseded by the 80 range - but whatever you buy - it will not be the latest for long so just snap this up at this great price - you will be enormously pleased.

I am nearly tempted to upgrade from my PX to this PZ model at this price - except that would be irresponsible and 'un-green' and wouldn't be justified (ah - that's my wife talking ;-) )

Seriously tempted to upgrade from my 32"D3000. Killzone would look so kewl on this set.

Picture quality is exactly the same, just has a bit better contrast with the newer ones.

My PZ70 broke and i had it replaced with a PZ80, thats the only thing i noticed.

I would never buy such a high value item from play.com as they only offer a 28 day warranty and then say any problems are between you and the manufacturer!

Couldn't agree more.

"Our returns policy is valid for 28 days from receipt of an item." - and they stick to that. If your expensive TV fails 5 weeks after you've received it, you'll be dealing with the manufacturer on their terms!

A UK retailer wouldn't be able to get away with this because of the Sale of Goods legislation which protects consumers. Jersey doesn't - yet - have one in place.

Buy from Play at your own risk.

Yep, will never purchase anything above £30-£40 from play.com again. Items even disappear from your order history after 28 days when you try to return them as faulty

Most people are unaware of these T&Cs so worth posting this info every now and then IMHO

Think I would want a warranty with a plasma - not without their problems.

This is pretty much the TV I was looking for unfortuntely I am past my 3 month retutn on my LG set (which I am actually very happy with)

no longer in stock at that price

Nice TV and price. Killzone (and most console games) is 720p so could it look better on a 720p Panasonic, than on this 1080p set?
