Cheapest I've seen, with free delivery and 5 year guarantee.
Not sure if this is nationwide or just at the Norwich branch.

plasma is being faded out, due to the environmentalists saying it is very un-environementally friendly, the governement will soon put a ban on them, LCD's TV's would be the best choice to buy and picture quality is better than plasma's!!
#2
Very untrue.... plasma has a superior picture quality over lcd

I have a similar size panny plasma and can say any lcd would have a tough job matching it

Hot from me

is this true? can you provide a link for this as I would like to read up on it.

about picture quality, i was in costco yesterday and they had two tvs side by side, same brand and same size, resolution etc was the same, only difference was plasma and LCD. the plasma looked the better of the two. And costco were feeding a HD source into the tv too, it was really clear. I think for larger tvs, plasma seem better quality.

Says the man who obviously knows nothing about Plasma's and LCDs :D

LCD have a long long way to go before they get close to the quality of Plasma's (and I cant be bothered to explain, check avforums or something) and by then both would have been eclipsed by SED or OLED technology (or anything else thats in the pipeline).

Not a bad deal actually, warm. :)

ps it's unfortunate that Pioneer are ending production of the plasma as profit margins for LCD are sky high though rumours abound that they may take a change of heart. Here's hoping.

yes plasma produce more vibrant colours , deeper blacks, less motion blur and the only real downside is that it as slighly more power consumption

Apart that they seem to be virtually identical

sorry but based on my experience of plasma's vs LCD's, must of seen some which were of poor quality.

Oh dear, very informed reading there (the sun,,lmao) yes m8 you can express opinions all you like, those as i'm sure many will agree, gave us all a giggle

Best ever quote from the last link
"Researchers in Australia who study such things as green house omissions from our household appliances found that the gases from these new popular plasma televisions guzzle more energy then refrigerators"

Oh dear perhaps everybody who uses a car with an engine bigger than the "energy efficient" 900cc models should have their cars crushed

all i can say is this TV really is getting the heat, considering how good it is!

the reason its cold is because, from memory, an almost identical model was posted yester day at approx half the price from richer sounds.
its not an indication of the tv and if you had pointed that "fact" out then you would have been correct. plus the price of 1920*1080p plasmas are approaching this now

That was a PX7 not a PZ70. Lower resolution & fewer connections.

This IS 1920 x 1080....

Hmmm, so you were saying that LCDs were a better picture quality than plasmas, then you post a random link to an article which actually says that plasmas have a better picture!

You couldn't make it up.

Thats because idiots just read the first few posts and make a heat/cold rating based on that. The problem with this forum is that its starting to become a victim of its own success where there is that many people have signed up not being aware of the true meaning of a hot or cold deal.

That is, irrespective if its something they would buy or not buy - is the deal a good one compared to everyone else selling the same product? Really people should be forced to leave a post if they click the 'cold' button.

Here endeth the rant. ;)

Well I have this tv in my lounge now and the picture quality is fantastic, I would recommend it to anyone.

apologies on that one, i did say "from memory" and i am old and senile lol, but the point was that the temperature of the deal had nothing to do with his objections to it
#24
What people are saying here is that plasma is generally better for TV viewing than LCD. That does not necessarily translate into everybody voting "hot" for this particular model and price. How many people are likely to spend £1200 on a whim on the basis that a plasma is on offer? Not many.
However, for those looking at a top end plasma, they will surely buy this.

They will not ban plasmas..and if they did.. they cant ban the old ones already in your house.
Furthermore, the difference in energy consumption compared to LCD is not what you would think.

And yes, 1 John Lewis store should price match another. They may not have it on the shelf price, but they will match it. You need to mention the “never knowingly undersold” slogan, and also ask them to speak to their undersales team if they will not budge.
#25
Well thanks so much, I have just rang John Lewis and I am going to get a refund of £302. I was told that I would hear from the 'undersales team' so hopefully it comes off, Thanks again for this post and I have repped. :):)
