I know you said £1000 Max but for £78 quid extra you can have a 4k 58" panel.

I don't see any point buying a 4k TV yet (for the majority of people). Unless you plan to keep it for a long time. My 11 year old 720p plasma displays a fantastic picture, particularly when fed with an HD source.
I'd buy a 1080 TV and save the cash while waiting on OLED.

First photo advert when I googled 58" 4k was a Philips unit at Argos for £1078. Google works 24 hours a day. :-)
