Panasonic Viera TX-L47E5B LED HD 1080p Smart TV, 47 inch £599.00 @ JohnLewis

avis1974avis1974

Good TV if you don't need 3D.
The usual 5yr warranty and free delivery @ John Lewis.
..and perhaps price match if you can find it cheaper elsewhere!

It went up to 250°c when priced at£699 from John Lewis about a month back.

Professional review of the 42" version - http://www.hdtvtest.co.uk/news/panasonic-tx-l42e5b-l32e5b-201207131935.htm

To summarise, excellent for movies, poor for games.

I've got the TXL42E5B, and I think it's outstanding. The quality is amazing, the features on it are really good as well especially if you use Netflix. Due to it being a Smart TV you can access YouTube, BBC iPlayer, and much more while streaming them from your internet.

I don't regret buying this TV, and I bought it from John Lewis with the 5 year warranty. I paid £470 for mine.

i would point out the smart features are pretty **** on panasonics compared to other makes. my 50 inch pasma has perfect picture quality etc but the vierra is outdated! if you can cope without that r have an alternative box for smart tv, this is a very tempting deal, otherwise consider something a little more expensive from lg, sony or samsung. they play media off external devices (hdd's or flash sticks) with a lot less hassle

I got the 37 version for a good price recently from Comet rem them ?
I agree the picture quality is pretty good but i have another samsung tv and the smart tv features are pretty good. Alshare and displaying external content dlna etc.

It does feel like Panasonic keep bolting more and more onto the menu system and it really needs to start afresh.
Agree with above the Panasonic Plasma tv are lovely, can't justify yet another bid item purchase but would love to get another Panny Plasma. :)

LG 47LM620T is for 699 in JohnLewis. It has superior smart tv features, amazing 3d and perfect for gaming too (dual play). Add a harddisk and it can pause, record etc.

I have the TX-P42UT50 (2012 Plasma), plays every video format (including MKV) with no issues via flash or hard drive.

Agree about the other Smart features though, Panasonic need to add more content to the marketplace.

Also £599 here and it's with a Panasonic 5 year warranty! (In-Store only tho)

Alot better than John Lewis's 1 year Panasonic warranty + 4 year 3rd party warranty!!

Frame rate is only 100HZ. Can get 200Hz for the same amount with 3D although slighty smaller.

I have this TV, paid £629 for it.

    Summary:

You will need to play with the picture settings to get the best out of this TV. There are also hidden advanced settings to change the gamma.

The Tivo box picture varies depending on what channel you watch even HD channels (for example BBC HD is better for football than ITV HD). Some channels you will see banding on white back grounds, again this is dependant on the channel.

Blu-ray really shines as this is true 1080p and 24 fps.

The xbox is really impressive too, i dont know much about the input lag but I can't see much (playing Forza 4 and COD7).

I would rate this TV overall as 8/10. People always say how great it looks.

ps. Remember it's a Panasonic with an LG screen :)

Just spend some time to do research on this TV as I am in the market to buy an LEDTV. Everyone agrees the black levels of the picture and the sound quality are not the best hence the general rating given is 4-star. No 3D either. But on the plus side, you don't need to buy an internet dongle, it is a Panasonic LED TV with 5 years warranty, it looks smashing and at £599 you cannot buy a better, quality, 47" LED TV. I hope I can buy it cheaper in the sales.

Why not wait until the New Year when they'll have to sell off the old stock cheap as they'll no longer be able to use the "New for 2012" tag anymore. :D

..and perhaps price match if you can find it cheaper elsewhere! LOL NO CHANCE. Price match is just a scam!
JL won't match because they will say competitor doesn't offer 5 year warranty. Funny because I thought this was FREE with John Lewis BUT NO just added to avoid any matching. LOL they messed up with the FREE 2 yr warranty on tablets - Samsung offer 2yrs so currently having to sell lots (with a struggle mind!) of Tab2 @£195.00
JL partnership - CS maybe good once you get away from store but........................

I have this TV in 42", my experiences are that this is a fantastic TV, except for Lip Sync issues :( As for JL, I've found their customer services excellent (I am on TV no.3 now and not once have they argued about me changing it)
